Adeva is a legend in house music. That powerful voice of hers is a gift. I saw her in the 90’s at GMHC’s AIDS benefit Red, Hot and Dance and she tore the Javits Center down!!!! I still remember that performance!
What a wonderfully honest, raw and open interview. This lady never got the RESPECT she was due. She literally DEFINED the sound of an entire genre - Vocal house! How upsetting to learn of the passing of her son and the way she was abused by her record label. She did not deserve any of that! She is a warrior and a queen. And to those that know, a musical legend too.
I love how Adeva said... "I am the Queen of House!" (music). That's right... sometimes we have to validate ourselves! 👏🏾👏🏾 I do believe though... that music industry insiders (Record labels, Producers, DJ's, etc.) are aware of her "imprint" and contributions to this specific music genre. Dedicated and true fans know for sure!
House Music is underrated and looked down upon and the only reason for it is the fact that it was made, welcomed and celebrated by gays!!!!! The black community is deeply homophobic and House music stars (and I mean international stars like Cece, Chrystal and Adeva) never got their flowers. Not only House music stars but also other icons like Jody Watley who supported and celebrated the gay community never got the acceptance and credit within the black community. This is only harmful to the community itself!!!!
@@firouz4296 I agree with you 100%, also Disco (even though more mainstream) in the end was the same thing in being somewhat related to “gays”, so sad, but true and these music genres died out to a lot, but still will live on to its true fans.
Ok 😳 I didn't realise Adeva had gone through so much besides the management and record label shenanigans. She's a survivor and her music inspired and defined an era🙏🏼❤️
Loved this interview! Adiva is life! I appreciate her contribution to House Music, for setting the standard. I also appreciate her for being an educator. Many blessings to you Adina!💜
Adeva is a true Queen and I only wish I could meet her. We can never forget your music or video it was like watching salvation taking place in a musical sense truly uplifting.
I'm so glad to have found this video! Adeva is looking real good and her voice is still marvelous. I'm happy she's well, and this interview is a treasure. The queen indeed. RESPECT!
This is such a BEAUTIFUL interview! It truly touched my soul. NJ loves you Adeva! Thank you for your service to our children & for thst beautiful voice. May God continue to bless you.
Love this woman and everything about her. Thank the Lord for Adeva with that voice. She can bring it like the very best of them. She’s the wow factor and Xfactor times 10.😮❤
I love this woman. So strong and humble and her personality is everything. So funny and fun! Even when she’s bragging she’s doing it with a sense of humor. And I’ve listen to her stuff on UA-cam and she has a hell of a voice! Like you don’t even understand it until you go and see it for yourself her range is insane!
wow, so respect dropped in the uk on cooltempo records and so thats my first memory of adeva's music and then sometime later 'in and out of my life' became a huge club hit. but the golden moment for me was musical freedom with paul simpson, the opening bars of that record stick in my mind as something so ground breaking that it still sends shivers through me now.
Great interview. It was insightful. Sad to hear that she was swindled by her management. My favorite song by her is her collaboration with Frankie Knuckles on "Too Many Fish." I just listened to it yesterday before I saw this interview today.
Oh, the great Adeva, wonderful!!! I love your channel. Thank you for producing such high quality content. Would you consider interwiewing Kathleen Battle?
I remember going to Adeva's concert in London. It was an amazing night. she will always be my favorite '90s house music artist/vocalist. on a serious note, Adeva was treated with NO respect by the music industry. Disgusting 😥 You are an Amazing person keep strong ♥♥♥
This is my second video of his that I’ve watched (the first one was when he was wearing a “tank top” while he interviewed Martha Wash and his energy is soooooo low, I mean give us a little bit of personality and excitement when asking these celebrities questions. They deserve it.
j'ai toujours aimé cette femme ,ça musique passé tout les week end en discothèque au boys à Paris ; c'est très triste ce qu'il lui est arrivé ,je lui souhaite tout le meilleur
In America the type of house she sings is called Garage house powerful on the vocals, yes Garage House and House cause you to dance and in black music Gay men of all boards love to twitch their butt to house music because of the powerful house vocals and the heavy bass. Voice like Adeva are big voices, and they shake the walls. She did well with Paul Simpson with musical freedom, but this was not the producer for her, the perfect producers for her would have been Patrick Adams because Adeva was Underground House, NYC/New Jersey House type and mister Adams was the kind of underground house. I love his house productions; they would have had number ones if they had work together. This is who she should have been working with and create these new hit house songs. I did not like Love or Lust really, I think it missed the Underground part that Warning, Respect and I thank you had, this is what it did not wor, pople who like Adeva like Garage House. this is where she shined. She was up there with the big gun divas of House such as Barbara Roy who also worked with Paul Simpson, Loleatta Holloway, I wish they had done a tour called "Divas of House" I would put Adeva, Barbara Roy, Loleatta, Carolyn Harding, Jocelyn brown. I miss all their music!!!! too bad many people have used black american vocals and not pay them their fair share of royalty.

Great for acknowledging the Grace Jones influence on the cover of the 1st album
Grace Jones is Jamaican 🇯🇲
A beautiful, multitalented Black woman from Jamaica. Much respect 💗

House Divas are the best !!!
I LOVE her! Pleasingly confident and refreshingly humble. AND refreshingly sexually moral during her career.
Nice video. I am a huge fan of Adeva. The woman she's trying to remember from Training Day is Macy Gray. :-)
The confidence❤beautiful interview, I enjoyed it
QUEEN OF HOUSE!
THE QUEEN now and forever
Great interview. It was insightful.
Sad to hear that she was swindled by her management.
My favorite song by her is her collaboration with Frankie Knuckles on "Too Many Fish."

I love your channel. Thank you for producing such high quality content.
Would you consider interwiewing Kathleen Battle?
I’m not opposed. Sometimes it’s just a matter of finding these artists and she isn’t on social media!
Adeva girl you need to start a case and get your money that’s your legacy girllll ‼️
Adeva!!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love her
I always thought Adeva should have done a duet with Colonel Abrams.
I remember going to Adeva's concert in London. It was an amazing night. she will always be my favorite '90s house music artist/vocalist.

OMG so heartbreaking to see her breaking down like that. Those people who did her wrong will get cancer.
