This video pretty much explains Drop D(or the Drop tuning in general) in a way that no other video on UA-cam does. Thank you for this awesome video. I also subbed Cheers!!!
Great guitar lesson. Most people understand the top 3 Low strings but nobody ever talks about how other chords translate. Good luck to you, I'm loving your guitar lessons.
This is one the finest instructional vids I’ve seen on an alt tuning. The way you progress through chord scaling and the relation of the other strings (as opposed to just lower register barres) is very helpful. Thank you and I definitely subbed.
I'm 53 years old and have been playing on and off for most of that time. I recently got motivated to play again and I've messed around with drop d . I can play Everlong but I really want to do my own thing and you have helped me out. Just subbed. Peace from Stan the Alaskan.

drop D is my favorite tuning. at 8:23 what happens if you put your finger to the 4th string in the middle? I need to know. There's a lot of songs that has the same drop tuning tuning specially Linkin Park: "Given up" and "What I've done" from Minutes to midnight. My request: tuning drop C# or drop B on six string electric/Acoustic guitar.
Watching you drop tune this floyd, while the locking nut is not had me panicking. Logic tells me you have the trem blocked and the locking nut loosened, buuuuuuut my immediate reaction was concern. haha
I have a bit of a strange request, do you think you would be able to show us how to play ebb and flow by Joe Robinson? But specifically the version in the video "RC-1 Loop Station performed by Joe Robinson"
Some quick critique: You might want to cut your video down into smaller bits so it's easier to find what you're gonna teach, alternatively put timestamps or something in that style. Otherwise, great video! I really like your instagram, that's actually where i found you!
Thanks for the feedback Fredrik. I'm just experimenting at the moment with a longer video format. If you check out the supporting tab on my website you'll see there are timings on there which might help you.
When you play a song what does it mean this kind of instruction: Tuning: DADGBE (Drop D), capo on the 3rd fret, recording full step down? I think it means change 6 string from E to D and then put a capo on the 3 fret? Why after putting the capo you say that it is like play CGCFAD??? I do not get it. Thank you :)
That is an Open D6sus(9) Tuning 6 String Guitar D A D G B E (Regular) A D A G B E (Treble + Bass) 7 String: A D A D G B E 8 String: D B E A D G B E, D A E A D G B E D A D A D G B E (Metal)
How did you manage to tune from E to D on the Floyd? For the life of me, I've never been able to do that without all the other strings going out of tune! :(
What I do is set my tremelo up and mess with the truss rod and those 2 Big Screws on the back of the Guitar to be set for Drop D. Then I'm able to go from Drop D to E standard without the strings going out of tune. So I would set your guitar up to be drop Drop D. It makes it easier when tuning to E. The only thing is you may need to somewhat retune the other strings but you can use the bridge tuners for that

Best animated tab synched with playing I've seen. Excellent job
Plenty more like this on the channel 🙏🏻

Thanks so much. You really articulately simplified my whole life when it comes to heavy punk/metal. Strike the right chords with intent!

You're very welcome dude. Thanks for watching.
Hey most guitar demos and teachers on UA-cam are terrible but this is really good and this guy can teach
Those inlays are cool

Hey! If you're referring to 7-7-9-X-X-X, it's a sus2 chord
@@Rynaylorguitar ok, what about middle on a 5th string while the 4th string is in 11 fret?

what's the third song you play in the intro
Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana
Such a hack. We all love playing open chords in standard tuning on cranked up - distorted humbuckers. Jeez. :p
What is the song you played on second 50?
'Everlong' by Foo Fighters.
thx
How did you manage to tune from E to D on the Floyd? For the life of me, I've never been able to do that without all the other strings going out of tune! :(
I feel your pain. I ended up blocking the bridge with a piece of wood so I could easily retune.

Drop D, yes. Whole step down from Drop D is the CGCFAD. Capo 3rd fret on that. Do you have an example?
