Your son has a great vision for design. Thanks for making his creation come to life. What a "drug" watching. Am retired looking for a hobby... Thx for the momentum to get me churning!
You are a genius!!!!!! That’s beautiful. If anyone dug your lamp up in the far distant future they’d be totally baffled. A construction like no other with parts from different eras. One big mystery. Amazing! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The whole video from start to finish was total art ! Beautifully filmed , beautiful lamp , you are a true artist , I love the whole package a joy to watch! Thank you for sharing 😊

Tom, you are so gifted an artist! The lamp is truly a work of art--as is the lovely drawing by your son. I think perhaps he'll be as gifted as his dad! Thank you for an inspiring video!
You really do have some mad scientist skills with building steampunk Tom. That lamp was a beauty and it was so sweet that you allowed your son to draw up the plans for it. Will it hold a place of honour in his room? :)
Great project! If I may offer a couple suggestions, you could have washed the pulley first you might have salvaged more of the rough surface and I suggest liquid polishes for brass they work really nice. also get one of those table thingis to hold your solder, it can save you having to fine away bumps :) and last thing try boiled lineseed oil to coat the wood and make it darker, it takes multiple application over time but it makes the wood age really nicely, the burned look is a little plasticky for my taste.
Thanks Tom love the lamp, I bought it from you and looks great in our room. I will definatley keep an eye out for more of your incredible creations.
