Tokyo Lens this was a really great video. I love the Samurai culture and to be able to see the bloopers were great! 👍 I always love your videos. Well I love pretty much any video about Japan within reason. So when I get to see videos about Japan that are informative it’s a great day. I can’t wait till I go to Japan someday. I’m putting this place in a playlist of places to go in Japan. I’ll also be applying for the MEXT scholarship to study film or photography there so let’s hope and pray I pass all the screenings. I would totally love to be able to film like this and go to places not many people would go to and make like a mini documentary series starting from Kyushu and working my way through Japan.

Really great video and a very interesting subject. It's a very interesting period of Japanese history. Nearest I been to their is Inuyama (which has a lovely little castle) just the other side of Gifu and easily visitable from Nagoya too.
And love the bloopers at the end 😁

I just couldn't like this upload more. Maybe I am biased because this Nagoya area is my hometown (even though I have been here in Toronto for the past 12 years). I grew up near Nagoya and even visited the Battlefield (Sekigahara) when I was a cub scout (I just hated being a cub or boy scout when I was a kid) on its field trip. Nice to see you in a samurai armor (yoroi), and you actually look really cool in it! Also so glad to know that you went to a restaurant where locals go rather than a restaurant for tourists! One more thing that made me smile was that you bought "akafuku" from Mie on your way back. I totally enjoyed watching this vlog and am going to watch it again! Thanks, Norm.

The armor that you donned belongs to a samurai named Honda Tadakatsu. He was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Ieyasu. Legends say that he was never once wounded after engaging in more than 50 battles. Thus called "The Warrior Who Surpassed Death". Very interesting figure you may want to check out!

Another great start to my day. As a Japanese History major I really loved this one. Tokugawa history has been a major area of study for me and it was cool to get to see some of the battle areas at Sekigahara. And props to you for keeping your shoulders up in that armor.
Also, loved the little bloopers at the end, it's fun to see a bit of the process behind the finished product.

I really loved this entire video too, I am really interested in history in general and it's always exciting to learn a bit about other countries' history. It would be nice to have an opportunity to learn about Japanese history someway or another when/if I someday manage to travel to Japan, I love including bits and pieces of history in my travels (even here in my own country, I tend to be the "history organizer" for our trips).

Norm I've been reading amd learning about the samurai culture quite a bit over these past few months (you may remember the book I had that night - samurai related ww) and to have this video created was so awesome. Another great video, the jumping back and forth was a good way to keep multiple things all relevant and interesting. Loved the ending🤣

I love when your videos start with the word adventure. You proved your point that you keep saying in your videos. Jump out of your comfort zone, smile say hi and good things might happen. The mayor and the guy driving you around are awesome. Becarful mentioning birds in your video. We don't want another pigeon take over lol oh and by the way you looked amazing in the custome.

Really interesting! Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
It's so terrific to see how passionate the mayor is about his area's history.
Personal chauffeur-driven guided tour? You sure make the most of that Canadian charm! :-)
7:45 Battlefield memorial outside the middle school? Cool! When I was a kid the best we could do was an oilfield pumpjack across the street from the school playground.
You really rock the samurai armor, by the way. I think it's a good look for you (especially the horned helmet!). You should wear it more often '-)

Stay till the end for lolz!~ hahaha. This was an awesome video! How lucky are you! It seems to me that to live during the samurai period would be a terrifying lifetime. But I'm not japanese, so I cant even imagine. At the same time, it looks to have been very honorable and beautiful in a way.

@@TokyoLens That's true... History is History, anyways ^-^ However, I think it would be rewarding to be a history professor, or at least a tour guide, haha.
