    I find mixing audio the most tedious part of the process, the people that work professionally with audio are amazing and I am grateful when I work with them.

      THANK YOU! OMG! You Sir are a life saver! I primarily produce music in Ableton and working in FCPX is like working in Logic which i'm not fully versed in. You've basically saved my life.
      If I were to do a YT video with just music only should i also keep the audio at about -6 or is it okay for it to be at unity at 0?
      Thanks in advance!!!

      @@nativitymusic UA-cam best practices is -14 LUFs to have the best dynamic range in the audio for the best listening experience. Below are two links, explaining LUFs and how to meter them in FCPX. I found for most instances -6db is ideal to keep the full dynamic range before YT starts to compress it more and cutting off the high end. That is my experience, many say -12db is better. But I like to boost the loudness a bit and have True Peak not pass -6db.

    Rafael ! Thank you so much ! I just recently jump into FCPX from Adobe due to client's need and the first guy that pop up in my mind that can help level up my FCPX skills is you ;D The tips on music equalizer is game changer , really ! I will do this for all my background music from now on

    • @FerryPrima
      @FerryPrima 3 роки тому +1

      One question here. Is there a way to keyframe the equalizer in FCPX?

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  3 роки тому

      Yes you can keyframe the EQ - Open up the Parameters drop down in the audio effects panel in the inspector. Set you first key from for the frequency you want to adjust over time. Then any adjustments you make over the duration of the clip will have key frames.
      May be I'll make a quick video to show that! Thanks for the question!

What happen in my work flow is when I import the clips the frequency is all over. Bridal dressing in between the dancing and the last clips are in the tropics and bottom. I use a Sony A7iv, canon R5C, GoPro and a drone for wedding shoots. Many thanks

    This has been Awesome. Thankyou. So many great tips in here! Is there an easy way to get rid of the tinny / echo sound in a hothouse?

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  3 роки тому +1

      Getting rid of tinny / echo sound in post is not something I know how to do well, for me it's more about trying to reduce it in the capture process, sound dampening, sound blankets etc. I know there are plugins that say they work for that, but I've had no success, or the audio ends up sounding muffled.

    iMovie has this "Lower volume of other clips" setting that acts like a nice sidechain. I guess Final Cut is missing this option?

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  3 роки тому

      iMovie has a bunch of nice little features that would be nice in FCP, not sure why they don't come bundled with it as well, FCP is lacking in the audio editing and mix tools, hopefully they will add a better workflow in the next major release. Thanks for watching and the comment!

    Hi can you color selected clips on a timeline (non audio) I used to be able to do this in Premier. I can color them by making them a title but that's not ideal.

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  4 роки тому

      yes you can, you can make new color coded roles for video and audio - and call it what you want with any color - ua-cam.com/video/KlBaCoU7kr4/v-deo.html here's a quick video on how to. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for the comment!

    Thank you! Great video and advices. Audio was always a pain in the neck for me. I bought the plugins because I have some reverb issues in some videos. And because your recommendation. Do you still use the “limiter” if you use the accusonus plugins? I think the enhance voice over is super useful. Thanks again for your videos!

      Hi Manuel I do use the limiter built into FCPX on my sound mixes. I too am really trying to enhance the overall quality of the audio. I just bought izotope nectar, and am testing it out to see if it can make the process easier. But just like anything, there are no short cuts, and I have to really learn the process and upgrade my skill with audio!

      @@RafaelLudwig Hi Rafael, I wached the video several times, it is one of the best that I've seen and now I edit sound as you teach us. I'm looking to improve the quality of the recording, do you recommend a zoom H5 or a Tascam recorder? I just seen the Tascam Dr 701-D and looks great. Do you use or recommend gear like that?
      Thanks again!

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  4 роки тому +1

      @@manuelgoicolea7770 I used to use the Zoom H4, but personally I use a good mic into the camera. With my EOSR I use the Rode VideoMixPLus. I found it a hassle to sync up all the footage with audio for every project. When I do client work I tend to have a pro audio engineer on set feeding the camera, and doing a second record.
      If you do want off camera audio, look into the Zoom F6 geni.us/NqzzH - it records 32bit float audio - no more clipping! It's like recording RAW video but with audio. Hope this helps. Thank you for the compliments, for watching and commenting Manuel!
