    How do you practice your octaves? Let me know in the comments! Also be sure to like the video as well and maybe even hare it around with your other flute friends? Thanks for watching!

      The Flute Channel I like to practice the intervals in order of size starting with minor seconds up to compound intervals and in the middle of the ways the octaves are there... thanks for the video!

      Hey, this is a great video. I love it, really nice and clear explanation. I'll give it to my students this week! An important thing I found out was that I was constricting or tightening my throat. It actually ended up causing me problems in normal life! Just a thought as you're so good you've probably forgotten all about that bad habit :) !! Thanks for this channel its a fantastic resource

    Thanx so much. I was having problems going from one register to another when playing songs and having that problem of not staying in one octave when noted.

    Thanks for this excercise, I haven’t played in several years and the first thing I noticed was that I couldn’t play any notes higher than G. This excercise really helped.

    Great advice!. The only thing I would change is Air Speed for Air Pressure but I got the point. Thanks!

    Very helpful. I have been finding etudes and flute exercises that focus specifically on octave changes. Octave changes for F# and G are a doosey though. My F# and G sound so sharp, like I am screeching. I am really trying to focus on improving my upper register. So frustrating going back to playing the flute, when it was so easy in highschool 😢

    It's not as hard as it looks, but I can still tell this is going to take a lot of practice to do well. At least now I know how. Extremely helpful video.

    Another wonderful lesson! Thank you I learn so much from you:) question: how do you play long clear high notes? I have alot of difficulty keeping the sound even without it dipping back down into the lower register.

    I like this exercise. Do you know where i might find it printed. I Have to see it printed to play it. Im kind of weird that way. By the way, I am still working on that Kohler Op 33 no 1 Etude that you played and i fell in love with :)

      thats awesome. I would use a program like muse score (its free) and just copy what is on the screen. I also think these octaves are in our "5 minute warm up for flutists in a hurry" try that out. But maybe this week Ill make it and put it on the website and a link in this videos description so keep an eye out for that!

      but In terms of books the Simple Flute by Michel Debost might be the best. I can't think of any others.

    Hi! I just recently received a flute I purchased and then had it shipped too me, it’s a nice looking flute with a b foot and split e mechanism but the pads on the b foot joint don’t seal, open or close fully and all the pads are sticky and uneven. Should I just get a refund for it or send it back and get a new one if the same flute that will theoretically be in good condition?

    • @diragusa

      Is it a used flute?

    • @flutechannel
      @flutechannel  6 років тому +2

      depends where you got it. But start a dialogue with who you dealt with if you can. Most offer a exchange or a repair. Most US companies do a check before thy ship off. But some don’t.

    • @princekatchafire9104
      @princekatchafire9104 6 років тому +2

      Sugarless No, it’s completely brand new. But yes delivery guy did throw the package at my door and drove off sooo that could be a slight cause, I think I’ll do an exchange and if nothing good comes out of it then I’ll try a refund if possible but only because the flutes style suits my hands best.

    Is removing flute
    tarnish ok with Q-Tips?

    • @flutechannel
      @flutechannel  6 років тому

      not really, i wouldn't use q-tips for anything on the flute. I would find a music shop and ask for a yamaha flute cleaning kit i think its 10$. Or you can buy it online. It will do far better than a qtip. Hope that helps.
