I've never had much trouble with the middle register, perhaps because I play a lot of traditional Chinese folk music in which nearly all is written in low and middle registers. Third octave E is my bugbear, particularly when I need to slur into it, which is really sad because Bach's Partita in A min. is my favorite and my ultimate goal.
Fantastic, in-depth video on the subject. I have been playing for two weeks, and only just starting to be able to hit the middle register semi consistently. It does feel like I have to blow too hard sometimes. Cannot manage to play it piano, only forte.

Happy to help Bill. Let me think, I would try to add items like carpets on the floor, heavy drapes. Any empty room is a loud boomy room so keep that in mind for DIY things you can do to soundproof a bit. Acoustic panels that you see we have on our walls will require quite a bit of them. You would need to cover your whole room with them.

Hello Mam', I have a question, I am a left handed Indian bamboo flute player, and from years i want to get my hands of this steel flute, but not able to find any , whose keys are aligned for lefty people, so, steel flute for lefty people really exist? if yes, then from where i can buy it, Regards Jeevan Dhami
There are no left handed flutes, the only ones exists are custom made and quite expensive. I would try a regular version flute. There are no "steel" flutes. Most are made in silver or silver plated. Hope this helps Jeevan
Quick reply -- Viento makes a left-handed nickel-silver flute. I have one. They also make left-handed silver flutes as well, with C and B foot, and with open and closed hole keys. The nickel/silver ones -- model Viento 208L -- cost $700 and work beautifully. If you google "viento 208L" it's the first result you'll get. If you are interested in playing what's called a "simple system" flute, fully keyed lefties are even easier to get since they were absorbed into Irish folk music, and folk music never minds people playing left-handed. They are fully chromatic and you can play anything on them, not just Irish folk music.
The middle register is one of the most covered topic I get with beginners and even advanced students. I do hope this helps. Happy practicing!
