These people that work for councils are bordering on professional time wasters. Millions wasted every single day.
Exactly and Orr had the gawl to say he was going to raise the OCR because rates and insurance have skyrocketed and its not like we can't pay those. And this is the reason why rates have blown out of proportion thanks to all these paper pushers
All these councils around the country have far to much say and power when it come’s to people’s private property, the government need’s to legislate against this sort of over reach.

Ha I went to Kaipara council for a meeting We had to wait in the corridor because the previous meeting had over run.
When the council staff members came out they were accompanied by a dog ! The size of a Great Dane It belonged to a staff member !!
My experience of Kaipara council is ; if you presented them with a white sphere & they declared it to be a black square, until u agree with them ur project will advance no further !

This is NOT bureaucracy. Stop blaming bureaucracy - it is BUREAUCRACY-CAPTURED, by Treaty Co-governance. It sets a precedent that Maori can determine what happens on anyone's privately owned land. Don't ever see this as something as innocuous as bureaucratic over-reach. This is activist politics of power - pure and simple.

@@olliemoose2020 You seem to be taking credit for something which many linguists agree originated from Africa. Everything you see has an origin which has been added to adopted and developed. The written language itself wasnt "invented" or created by europeans but developed and added to, just like words today have been adopted to fit the current era. Maori having a written language may have been possible if NZ was colonised by another nation.

Total nonsense. Streamline all the compliance requirements for property owners. Councils charge a fortune to do anything and run a mile if things go wrong.
And don’t forget about there statute of limitations of ten year’s, that means if they sign of on something like a code of compliance after ten year’s they just walk away and they are not responsible if thing’s turn to custard.

We did a small subdivision with a private road and our council tried the same thing. We simply refused and told them that we would not back down. Never heard back from them about it. Stay strong.

My father used to develop land in Wellington in the 1960's. He could name the streets and roads what ever he liked, as long as there wasn't one with an identical name in Wellington. The whole process took a minute for someone to check the list at the council. Now we are paying people to have meetings. She also never answered the question about how much the iwi where being paid for consultation, did you notice that?
That's so bad. That will be asking for rights and money if they give the drive a Maori name.

If it is HIS driveway, why can't he just put up his address and a mailbox like everyone else? I used to live on a back section with a very long driveway and no-one suggested it had to have a name - just a mailbox with the address.
