He wants "diversity" as long as its not diversity of opinion. Doesn't sound like much inclusion going on either. It's a public Council building so he can't exclude speakers just because they have contrary views to himself. They will of course try to stop it under the rubric of "threat to public safety" or "possibility of violence".

Councillors arent meant to bring religious, racial or gender ideologies into the mix. Rainbows were never persecuted because they werent parading down the street or impressing their shite on everyone, which we loathe and have every right to be concerned.

You're right. And these people are not even "a community". They are several groups of people who are conveniently bundled together in order that it sounds like there are more of them than there actually are. And unlike the Ls, the Gs or the Bs, the big troublemakers are the Ts. From my own experience, the average Ls, Bs and Gs are not that impressed with the Ts. So it is by no means a community. The activists make it sound like they're all of a like mind, and they are most certainly not.

They're talking about violence but any violence there may be will be from those on the oposition just like the let women speak event. Police should arrest those engaging in violence, not prevent the peaceful speakers from expressing themselves.

The real question should have been why does the Council give itself the right to censor free speech, to favour and preference one group of people on the basis of race, sex, gender, religion etc., over all others? Being inclusive does not allow for the exclusion of others by voluntary association. Banning the event would be an abuse of the councils powers to enable decorum and protection of legal rights, and verges into political discourse, and they do not have the right to prevent or prohibit this. Those who claim to act on behalf of trans are so determined and ruthless to silence opposition and criticism. I don't know if these people are just stupid and don't understand human behavior, or the are actively malicious.

It's a pity this man is on the Wellington City Council. He is a Maori Ward councillor. The Maori Ward was created without the public being able to vote on the issue.
I was looking forwards to the interview. A bit disappointed in they way it was conducted and the way it ended. It's unnecessary to be so rude and to hang up on him in that way. Yes it is good to have different views and to debate, but courtesy and a level of mutual respect if not maturity should be maintained. The guest knew he was going into the liins den, there shoukd be some respect shown for that. Especially if you want to encourage others to front up. Don't want this show to become an empty echo chamber.
