People don't realize how expensive veterinarian care has become until after they get a pet. Then the pet goes to the shelter.
It was cruel and beyond selfish to get a puppy only for their entertainment then when no longer useful these dogs get dumped like a piece of furniture. A pet is (should be viewed as a family member) for an its lifetime. Be kind first. Be responsible and make sure a pet fits your budget and lifestyle. They aren't cheap. NEVER support BREEDER. So many poor dogs dumped and desperately needs a home.
A pet is luxury that needs to be budgeted for. So worth it if one can afford it.
We have 900 dogs at the Phoenix County shelter. People will not spay or neuter. Breeders are now dumping mom/dad and huge litters - adoptions are at an all time low. Millions of dogs euthanized every year. Vet care and dog food is so expensive- the economy has hurt the rescue world 💔
This is horrible and people are horrible for not taking anything into consideration.
I really wish there was more legislation against breeding. We need to have tax benefits for rescuing. I will always adopt. 2 cats so far and one dog
I absolutely hate the fact that people would go out and purchase a purebred dog when they are literally millions of pets in this country that need a home, and you can get those dogs for a very little cost comparative to a purebred animal! And besides that when you take in a pet it's supposed to be for life!!! Not just because it's convenient for you at the time😢😢 those pets whether it's a cat or dog get attached to their family and when they are given up they go through a horrible grieving process. Sometimes it can't be avoided because someone is sick or they have to move and they can't take a pet but giving up a pet because of inconvenience is shameful!
🎉
That is what we do, old Abby RIP was 75% black lab, 25% Great Dane, she looked like a lab but was a big girl 100 pounds, tall, with a big head, lived 14.5 years
Good until her last week… furry friends network
Pippa is 7, a little Rot, about 50% yellow lab, 45% German Shepard
Got her for a song, great dog
More well-researched, sound advice from Clark. Thank you.
The best place to get a dog is the county animal shelter. Breed specific rescues and just glorified pet shops.
My dog passed away in 2023. She lived a great 18 years. I loved her but won't get another. Sooo many scams out there and annoys me so much!
Sorry for the recent loss of your dog. 💔
@Clark thanks! She was so sweet but dogs are financially draining no doubt about that. I love them but no more!
We rescued a dog, HOWEVER - The Cost to "Maintain" the dog using Vets is the Money-suck - - - Wife JUST asked me to go get a dental for our JRT, The Vet said she doesn't even need to see the dog and sent us a Estimate for $600 (more if extractions required) 😲😲😲who here remembers ever even PAYING $600 to purchase a dog?? or when dogs NEVER needed their teeth brushed/Dentist? Turst me - WE LOVE OUR DOG, but I'll be damed if I'm ever entertaining getting another one with the prices Vets are paying. (God forbid you need an ACL or major surgery- now you're talking upwards of $8k-$12k
DOGS ARE CHEAP HOME SECURITY. Most all of our family pets are from rescue shelters with a 'Teach me what you want from me' anticipation. In my experience, these dogs are not only fantastic when we take time and patience with them, they actually exude GRATITUDE. Feed them what you can afford, dry or wet food, table scraps, whatever. YOU DO YOU. Give them love and attention and you'll get it back ten-fold. I had one breeder dog in my 72 yrs. and it was a nightmare dog and returned. Ugh. Animal Shelters. Go.
Truth! A friend breeds golden doodles and wants $3500 a dog. Breeding is so wrong. She treats those dogs like dirt and I hate that for them...
We had several cats, and as they aged, the vet's bills went up. After 15+ years, they were part of the family, so we just took the good with the bad.
We have had four family dogs over a period of 30 years, our last one passed away last September at 18 years of age. No more pets for me, as I am now widowed, with both daughters married and out on their own. I am still working and my job requires frequent travel. The cost for boarding is also ridiculously expensive. One daughter has a dog which I get to dog sit often enough to remind me how much extra work having a pet entails, especially a puppy/young dog.
Sorry for your recent dog loss 💔
22:26 Clark, this is a brilliant solution to creating a temporary savings account for contributing later to a 401K. Love it! ❤❤
I had a fake call from Geek Squad. I realized something was wrong when the rep talked fast and was rude. The Geek Squad reps speak slow and are polite. The fake rep wanted me to spend $700 on a virus protector. I already had a virus protector.
A purebred "aussiedoodle". That made me chuckle.
#BonusTerm - "Eclipse elope" - Using an eclipse as a chance for an “event” or “destination wedding.” For some, a chance for an inexpensive but unique wedding.

I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just small investment, thank you Stacey Macken.
YES! that's exactly her name (Stacey Macken) I watched her interview on CNN News and so many people recommended highly about her and her trading skills, she's an expert and I'm just starting with her....From Brisbane Australia ,
I realize that trading/ investment comes with a lot of benefits than it seems to be on the news. As a beginner I was scared of loosing my savings but I'm glad I took the bold step that is now favoring me.
My whole family living fine and am heading for retirement plan, thanks to Stacey Macken .
I don't want to put a figure to how much i've made doing that but let's just say it's more than enough to make trading worthwhile. And when i say worthwhile, i mean it.
Stacey started managing my investments now I make 10thousand weekly. God bless her for been a blessing to my family.
Thanks Clark & Team!
Fake. Fake😅
IRS/income topic: If the IRS is also going to question why the listener didn't report the $30K of 1099 money, they will do it on a CP2000. It's a 4 or 5 page letter they will send concerning PROPOSED assessment of tax. You will find you have 3 options (disagree, partially agree or fully agree). Please note the date of the letter and respond timely. Provide whatever you can to respond the best you can. Don't just check 'disagree'. I'd spend the couple of bucks to send it certified. Do not ignore this letter as the proposed assessment will be assessed by default if there's no response. One can get the assessment off once it's on, but it's more difficult. Stay on top of it and use the taxpayer advocate IF you don't get treated right.
Theft & kidnapping of dogs has become a big thing since their prices went so high.
I was behind a couple at the Vet's office they had a dog that was brought in for a broken leg, they was presented with a $900 bill upon release at time of pick-up, the color was lost on their faces as they handed them a credit card for payment, i felt bad for the young couple that had multiple kids they could have used that money for other things for the family I'm sure!
There's no guarantee that your supposedly pure bred and/or hypoallergenic dog is what the seller said it is. Plenty of stories of people who get a DNA test in their expensive dog and find out that it's not what they were promised.
Happened to me. Advertised as a Mi-ki, no barking, great therapy dog, under 10 lbs. Did a DNA test when the dog kept growing - 18 lbs and barks at everything. I wanted to train him to be a therapy dog but he is not suitable. He is a Maltese/shihtzu
Thank you Team Clark.
When one is attempting to adopt a human child, courts require the people adopting to go through considerable time to make sure they can afford child, will be a good match, along with much more. Yet when one desires to get a pet, they simply go out and pick one up. I believe that we should put the same requirements into pet adoption as we do into human adoption.
Good point! 💚
The Pope says no one can afford pets or children. 😂
Not true
As Earl Butz said about the Pope's Encyclical on birth control " He no playa da game, he no maka da rules".
a friend just came back from a vet for her chihuahua dental work, and the invoice was $5K........ughhhh
Great show 😊
Another fake post.
These "designer" dogs are nothing more than just mixed breeds. It's a shame for people to breed them and charge high prices for them. Beware, adopt from a rescue.
So basically, the pandemic pet adopters are two time jerks...once for bringing in a pet they couldn't afford, and then for buying them from breeders instead of rescuing. It causes me to see red.
My 10 year old puggle needs dental work done Vet quoted between $2,000 and $3000, have paid $700 over the last 2 weeks for his ear infection. He has had chronic ear problems that started these last few years. Not a good breed to own.
Clark, I disagree with you about the part about dogs. You don't trade in your kids when they become to much of a financial burden do you? Don't have kids or adopt a pet if you can't handle it and have not thought it through. What ever happen to financial responsibility and making responsible decisions. Buy a pet for a temporary companion. How selfish is that! On this one you STINK CLARK! Plus They SHOULD feel guilty for this type of behavior!
Not encouraging this behavior, just reporting what's going on. 💚
Give it time, taxpayers will be subsidizing pet care.
I closed my PayPal account. 😊
Clark, you are a big part of the problem with your breeder purchased dog. This encourages breeders to continue this money grab, and one more dog sat in a shelter. Yes, this is a guilt trip to hopefully stop others from doing what you have done. Shameful.
I think he’s talking about having a dog that doesn’t trigger his allergies- a special exception.
And yes there isn’t any pet more loyal to you than one that is grateful you rescued them from a shelter. ❤
Clark talked about this on a previous podcast. A shelter dog was preferred, and they searched all of the shelters for months for the breed they wanted to no avail. Purchasing was their last option. 💚
Clark is in denial. His massive ego wont let him be more honest. Or humble.
