especially on used stuff.. truck especially.. 2018 ram diesel 3500, 55K miles trucks are at least 20K to sometime 30K TOO high when you figure normal depreciation from MSRP.. I like to do the OTD,, out the door, pricing on new and used. Right now if I was buying new with no trade, come in at 25K under MSRP OTD and say take or leave adn walk the F out.. had one dealer chase me out to the car and say ,, what can we do to make this deal.. I was like take the deal.. thats the deal.. they called back later that night and took the deal.. bought a 8 month old car with 12k miles for half of MSRP.. this was 2008 chev impala LTZ..

Thanks car edge. I saved almost a million dollars on my 2020 Bugatti last week. I just walked in and said Zach from car edge said I want the out the door price. The salesman brought me some caviar and champagne and said if Zach sent you we can do it for 1.8 million out the door. Handed him a briefcase and was on my way.

Insurance is up more than that from 2022 to 2023 My insurance went from a 160 to 290 With no accidents, no speeding tickjust went up almost double USAA.

USAA was over charging me too. I switched and now pay 80 a month. USAA is not what it used to be.
To be fair they raised me from 90 to 160 for no reason. I started looking to leave around 2021 and after checking quotes every 6 months it took 2 years before someone beat them. Progressive. I also moved my house over. But yeah 80 a month now.

I went to Honda of winter haven today… in Florida 14 APR 2024…. They wanted 48k for a CR-V… they had the little addendum sticker on them… 48k for a CRV …unbelievable… I drove away fast….. went to CDJR… the wanted 42k for the base grand Cherokee….. where are these lower prices.???

Bro, you have to negotiate. Basically just came back from honda. They gave me price 34k for honda civic sport at the beginning. I laughed out loud there. After 5 min of negotiations I got 26,5 k out of the door price. For what I said, that I will look what other dealers could offer to me. After what I got 25,5k final. And even after that I just walked away. I think I can push them for 1k more. Chicago,IL
I walked through a Carmax lot today and didn't even buy anything, but just looking at the prices they were charging made me feel violated.
Car Max gives a better trade, but their vehicles are usually 10 percent higher

@@lego4virgo I go there to drive a few cars to get a feel for them while I get my appraisal. I then find take the Appraisal for a dealer trying to offer less. It always works when they are trying to lowball you. I never tell them what they are offering until they come in with their BS offer-
I don’t understand Carmax high pricing. Customers these days know what cars are worth.
@@ayo9057 Their pricing is based on their passing the costs of paying more for a trade-in, having warranties, etc. to the consumer. And they also feel that since they don't do any negotiations, perhaps they feel that's a 'service' worthy of higher price, and people seem to want that.
Consumers should collectively pause all purchases from all brand dealers, for one week, or month, and see how the "market" would be forced to respond.
It would never happen.
This is like the calls to stop buying gas for a week.
it didn't work. During the covid, the price went batsht up. At first the demand was high and the supply was down so it justified the price. However, later the sales tanked but not the price. I hear stores with months without selling any car.
My neighbor sold his rotton Silverado. Frame wouldn't pass a safety. Thought the chap bought it for parts. The truck is still on the road with fake plates and certainly no insurance. The cost of living is at full crazy.
Peeling the onion back on anything will show nothing is as it seems. Its all up to you how many layers you can handle before the tears start flowing

Ford sales are “up” most likely with fleet customers, ie car rentals and ride share/hailing.
Those numbers don’t include private owner sales.
I bought a 2024 Ford Ranger three weeks ago. I love it so much. It was half the price of the F150 and it's a cool, little truck.
Fortunately for me, I drive a very nice Lexus RX 350 that's only a few years old and is paid off. I paid cash. I also have a very nice late model Tundra V8 that I paid cash for also. I did this before all he'll broke loose and things got out of hand. Additionally, since I'm in my 60's and both of my vehicles are low mileage, I don't plan on buying another vehicle in my lifetime since there's no need.
That's a great plan. I think there are probably several here who are doing the same or trying. We are. Intentional decision back in late 2018/early 2019 before the defecation hit the ventilation.
I too own my last Lexus, most likely. A 2015 GX460 CPO off lease in 2018. Cash. Love it. She's worth not much less than I paid and I am delighted every time I start up that lovely V8.

Yep. I bought a cheap little Honda Fit in 2018. It averages 38-40 mpg. I'm 58, I'll drive that thing as long as humanly possible.
I bought a coworker's 2012 Fit for cheap, then it hailed and I basically paid nothing from the insurance claim. Will drive it forever. Use the money to buy a 2006 Tundra 😅😁
I've learned so much from you guys. I almost bit the hook 2 years ago. Didn't understand the different discounts, rebates, day availability, days on lot. Dealers are willing to deal. Personally, we're too far apart. But, I've developed a relationship now with a few. They're people too.

it is the start of summer, gas goes up this time of year, every year. More people are driving, demand determines supply cost.
@@batsonelectronics Yes, they say this and we all go sure. However the price just shot up overnight. Obviously the fuel in the large tanks didn’t just go up in price. Also, I was watching the price of crude about a year ago. The crude price went up and up and no change at the pump, actually it came down. I’m afraid the price is more controlled than us little people will ever fully understand.

Car insurance up since so many people "DUMPED" their insurance during Covid and never picked it back up. When mine went up last year Approx. 60% of the difference was in "uninsured Motorist"!!!
And we all know uninsured motorist is a scam!

I work for a supplier. For the first time in 7 years, we are not working mandatory overtime. I'm working a 40 hour work week. Unheard-of.
On a specific model I've been watching for 2 years. It has come down on the manufacturer's website. It's down $2/week financed. That drop happened in the last 30 days. You can get deals if you go into a dealership and dance. Like stocks, I'm waiting for the floor. My vehicle is older, but still runs.
$2000 for a 2 year extended warranty is not a savings.
I've never known anyone who successfully utilized an 'extended warranty/extended service contract'.
Maybe it's just me, but I avoid them.

Maybe it's just me, but as far as Stelantis goes, if online advertised price showed big enough discounts to bring people in, maybe they would sell more. When I see MSRP - $2500, it isn't enough to waste my time. Even if the dealer will get you to MSRP - $10k.
Called a Dodge dealership about a 1 of the 5 2023 Challengers they had on the lot. Salesperson didn't even want to talk price negotiation. Guess 6 months on the lot isn't motivating enough.

.I owned a Mini Cooper and loved it so much. It was so fun to drive I live in the foothills of northern CA. That car could really scoot around the winding roads. I had my car for three years. It caught on fire in the parking lot after I turned off the engine. I had no warning at all that something was wrong. I found out that there were car fires in the Minis from overheated auxiliary fans. I miss my Mini. Loved that car 😢
had it for 3 years. Unfortunately it caught on fire and went up in flames. I was devastated.

I don't mind paying a fair price for a vehicle or a fair price for repairs, but my dealership just charged me 190.00 to even look at the vehicle for diagnostic. When I'm 190.00 in the hole before it even gets repaired, and then their labor rate is 150.00 an hour to repair it plus parts I have only one thing to say.🖕
Yup. My insurance company raised our bill for 4 cars, between my wife and I and 2 kids, up 140.00 in one bill cycle. Been a customer of theirs since 1996 and have home insurance with them too. Was told cost of repairs and theft was the reason. BS! Read a couple months after that my insurance company claimed a 6.3 billion loss last year because of hurricanes etc... all I can say is dirty pool State Farm!🖕🖕

1 in 2 drivers in New Mexico do not have insurance, as well as no registration. Albuquerque has THE highest auto theft in the nation - if you pass through (via I40 or I25) - keep on going. If you stop the night, your vehicle will get stolen.
“Newcomers” aren’t allowed to get insurance.
Michigan pays the highest car insurance in the nation.
Car dealers had plenty of opportunities to decline these overpriced vehicles all along knowing that they were severely priced above what most buyers are willing to pay. The automakers would have listened because they have no other way to sell vehicles. Bottom line - dealers got greedy and went along with the plan. Problem is - the buyer stopped the music unexpectedly. The next few years will be all kinds of tomfoolery to hide the truth - cars are overpriced, quality is down, EVs were a massive miscalculation and probably won’t be sellable en masse for another 10 years, and the entire auto making and selling model only failed hard now because the deeper design all along has been for ALL makers to have to make fewer to sell and price higher more so people can’t afford them. A grand scheme to re-introduce subscription car sales so not so many people actually own the cars. The only stop to that plan is buyers holding out long enough for automakers and dealers to run out of money so they have to return to selling in volume at lower prices. Buyers shouldn’t blink. This is a multi-year battle for how things are going to go in the long run.
GREAT explination. I just got off the phone with a chevy dealer. He said that the prices were already under MSRP. I was like, "Ill wait you out, you have 18 2500s sitting there and the one I was is on day 71." He had no response and I told him to call me when the next price drop hits. It has had 6 drops so far. I went to Toyota Direct in Columbus, Ohio, today to test drive a couple of vehicles, and inventory is way down. There's not much to pick from at all, in my opinion.

I work in the automotive industry. I see shifts cut all the time. We have had multiple volume up projects canceled due to lack of ev sales.
They are running plants wide open. In the KC area, there are F150 and Transits sitting everywhere. I drove by a closed auto auction filled, a drive in theater filled and no less than three lots that are fenced in and stacked in a 30 mile drive yesterday. The Kansas Speedway was loaded along with the theme park here. I have been in the car world my entire career along with working in 2 auto plants. I don't get what they are doing.
Likely the vehicles waiting fpr upgrade and inspection were classified as WIP (work in process), not finished to the point of releasing to official stock.
2 months. In the next 2 months Dealerships will start to miss floorplans. When the banks take new cars off the lot and sell them at use car auctions for half value, the end begins. One dealership is not a big deal. 5 dealerships is a huge deal. Once they start failing, the dominoes fall.
To be fair, I hope I am wrong. I want dealerships to go out of business, but this could turn into a full meltdown.
Today (Sunday 4/14) I went to a Ford dealer in Waterford (Michigan) to look for a pre-owned car I was interested. The parking lot was huge and there wasn't any room to drive around. This tells me the inventory data is correct.

I thought you’d find this interesting: Planet Ford in Houston is offering me a new 2023 Lightning XLT for $47k drive out! They also have a used one with 2k miles for $44k drive out.
You’d probably be better off buying the new lightning with 0 miles and a better APR rate like 1.9 for 72 months compared to the used lightning.
I read an article from Kiro 7 news in Seattle WA and they said that Onstar (?) was selling their drivers habits to 3rd parties and that was why her insurance had increased so much. They had a link to Nissan”s data that they share with 3rd parties and Nissan would sell your pretty much everything and anything they know about you .

I've been watching your channel for a few weeks now. Since watching and enjoying. I've been driving into my local dealerships to see all the 2023 inventory. Ford was one of the dealers that had the most inventory of F150s with a price range well over $50K .
Now, somehow, literally overnight, all the 23s have vanished .The lots are now suddenly filled with 2024s. I call BS . How did they magically get rid of all that inventory overnight? Honda now has 2025 Pilots in lots.So that type of inventory will change things for sure. Good luck shoppers!

Already seeing 0% which means they’re not gonna take any of the price. I’m surprised they’re still sales people still around. Have a couple of folks handling the purchases. Keep inventory up, upfront no haggling set price (like Saturn did) and no finance charges. If it doesn’t move, mark it down like clothing.

I just got a great deal on a used Lexus at a Lexus dealership and traded my garbage, nothing but problem's 2021 Dodge Durango
R/T and got the full balance from them to pay off the lease. No.negative equity to carry over. I tried so many other dealers, and nobody would give me anywhere near the payoff amount. This dealership was very busy. Maybe Lexus is a different animal compared to the US domestic auto market. I'm glad to be rid of that gas hog and high payment.
Sales can be up while inventory increases IF shipments to dealers increase faster than sales.
Wouldn’t it make sense that cars produced in the US would reach dealers faster than imports and increasing supply.
And you would think the handling / delivery fees would be cheaper.
I believe that the disconnect is that Ford counts the vehicle as sold when it is pushed to the dealer. You are measuring the sales to the consumer. You have the real numbers.
Than why aren’t prices dropping fast. Looking at used Chevy pickups and the just aren’t dropping fast enough

So I feel like that these factory deals and dealership incentives don't actually help that much. They look nice until you, as you stated, peel back that onion layer.

Yes, per CNBC (and others).

I've owned two EVs and it wasn't any higher than for the ICE vehicles I've owned, but can't speak for specific models and locations and driving history, etc. What I did before purchasing mine was to start the process of replacing the car on my policy and the prospective EV and it then showed the price adjustment (for one of mine it was $23 per 6 months and the other was $2 per 6 months) and then canx the transaction before finalizing to leave things as-is (and then if you do go through with purchasing that given EV you'd then carry through the transaction for real).
Y'all missed something with insurance. Insurance prices have soared because the nature of traffic flows have changed (which has also greatly increased road fatalities, now comparable to 1963 levels). Prior to the pandemic, roads were fairly empty most of the day in most places outside of rush hour, when everyone was nose to tail and totally jammed. Outside of certain places, this is changing. We now see that rush hour is far more diffused and much longer, meaning that busy but smoothly flowing and fast moving traffic is the norm throughout much of the day, leading to a shift from mostly fender benders to big, expensive wrecks, of the type that often kill or maim people, unfortunately, but also smash up the cars far more severely.
Car insurance is not soaring in profit because insurance is regulated in the maximum price because insurance is a weird industry where economies of scale essentially go to infinity, meaning that it breaks the normal rules of competition.

Stellantis got sued a few years ago for booking sales when they transferred the vehicle to the dealer and it moved on paper to their credit arm. They are not doing that anymore. I'm pretty sure GM has been doing same thing for decades but not to the same extreme as Stellantis and has not been sued so they keep doing. I'm guessing Ford is same

Repair costs are way up. EVs in a fender bender often get totaled.

OMG! I keep seeing videos about pretty much every car manufacturer going broke and out of business, YET, none of them have gone broke and out of business OR slashed prices. WHY do I keep seeing these videos...weird.
The used car prices are going down, but new cars are already in the mid $30K's to the high $40's for mainstream vehicles. I ended up buying a loaded 21 Honda Passport with 18K miles for $28K. But a new one would have been in the low $40's. to mid $40's Practically, the same car. Did I steal it? No. Howevver, it is much easier for a $50K purchase to go down to what would be worth $30K in less than two years than a $30K purchase to be worth $10K in the same amount of time and this is for a Honda. Imagine buying a brand new BMW or Audi. This could happen in no time.

I'm using all I've learned from Car Edge to get my best deal. It's fun to have these dealers try to out-do each other.
So you are looking at a Ram Limited or a loaded GMC or a Ford Raptor all three will be in the $70,000 to over $100,000 price range and you are trying to claim you will pay it off in three years, I call bull on this post. At $70,000 dollars you would have to pay right at $2,000 dollars a month and that is not adding in the interest of the loan so you are likely looking at $2,500 dollars a month for $70,000 dollars. Let's go to the high side which all three of the trucks you listed will likely cost you. Take $100,000 dollars divided by 36 again not including interest comes out to $2,777 a month you will have to pay but with interest you are likely sitting at $3,200 dollars a month for a freaking vehicle payment. Not smart.

The Raptor- $97K
The GMC - $94K
The RAM - $78K
All would exceedingly challenging to pay off in three years....
...if you weren't putting $60K or more down.
With my post tax income, IF I get the RAM, it'll be paid off in 18 to 24 months.
