Iowa State fan here... it would be fun to make road trips to Corvallis and Pullman... gotta feel bad for them.
I hope you're joking. Those are tough places for road games.
@@lv4utes they’re fun college towns for fans to visit though
Play them out of conference when they are in the MWC
I’m glad Arizona got into the big 12 a great conference before it’s too late, this creates great and competitive competition between great teams in basketball 🏀 and football
Arizona has never been to a Rose Bowl in the Century or so it has been played.
SDSU can't fill its football stadium for home games, don't travel for away games... thus no value for Big12.😢 I'm an Aztec fan
Add Creighton and UConn... or Clemson and Virginia...
Thanks for saying this Paul. Everyone keeps talking about “markets” like San Diego or Dallas (SMU), but no one actual talks about the fan interest.
No one available makes a lot of sense. They already have 8 new teams. They should at least wait until that date when teams have to give acc notice.
Absolutely, see what happens with the ACC.
why don't conferences just split football off, and then the other sports could be in different more regional conferences?
It truly is all about the brand!!! You'd rather wear Big 12 logos as the cross country team than WCC, from a university President, AD and fans' perspective!
Having to throw out a schedule to incorporate
Washington and Oregon is a good problem for the B1G
I can't get over the fact this is largely only happening because SEC swept in and added UT and OU
Ngl I think this started before with the 2010-2011 cycle. Texas and Oklahoma would still have probably left but Nebraska, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Colorado would have stayed.
The process started happening before the SEC swooped in. It kinda started with the longhorn network
If you want to be really technical, it actually started when the SEC added Arkansas and South Corolina in the 90s. Arkansas leaving the Southwest Conference was a major contributing factor to the collapse of that league.
I think this all started when byu won the championship in 1984. Conferences started excluding smaller schools and the rush to the big 5 to get $.
Waiting until espn needs a landing spot for acc schools. ....
On behalf of all WVU fans please Yormark oh please don’t leave us on an island with the weird spaghetti eaters 😭
Who the hell are they going to get thats worth anything once the sec and big 10 pick it apart
@@MasterChief806there's potential for Duke or Miami to get left behind. It depends how big the B1G and sec wasn't to get
Pitt, Louisville, best of the leftovers (Syracuse, Duke, NC State, Georgia Tech)
@@marcberman8503
NCSt going to the SEC, Syracuse best you listed, followed by GaTech. Duke may be AAC bound if UConn can't get in. UVA may be AAC bound as well. BC is a big question mark. Pitt would be a big pickup for Big12, but Big10 might grab Syracuse and Pitt, GaTech & Miami, if SEC is successful with FSU, Clemson, NCSt and UNC. VaTech likely is available for Big12, along with Louisville.
Big12 best case with high relative probability:
SYR
Pitt
Louisville
VaTech
+1 (Wake Forest, GaTech or MIA, or maybe BC).
BC & Wake did well in the media viewership numbers department in 2022. Wake did better, better than Louisville. So Wake is a possibility. BC ranked 1 spot below Colorado, so BC is likely under evaluation. UConn still seems the better play of the 2. A miss on SYR may lead to BC.
For now, I'm going with Wake Forest as the more likely 5th school to the Big12 out of the ACC. They would pair well with any of: ECU, App St or Marshall.
While waiting on ACC to grab 5, Big12 can finish out its 1st eastern POD of 5 by adding UConn plus 1, likely either: ECU, App St, or Marshall (but possibly USF, Temple or Coastal Carolina as well. Long shots: Ohio & Toledo.)
To create balance, if Big12 adds 2 in the east for a POD of 5, matching out west presently, Big12 will need to add 2 central region schools, with the 2 best being:
SMU
Tulane
(Next 2 would be Memphis (who could be an east add too) or Toledo.)
So, while waiting out ACC, add the following to go to 20:
UConn
SMU
Tulane
1 of: ECU, AppSt, Marshall (USF, Temple, Coastal Car., etc., etc)
Another alternative is to add 3 more Western schools (like Wash St & Oregon St, +1, and UConn, to complete the first POD of 4 in the east and the second POD of 4 out west.
Stop now, wait and see if the ACC falls apart. Possible to grab schools like Pitt, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, NC state, etc.
I hope the ACC stays together. 4 power conferences is a good balance for future College football playoff formats
Those schools you named as trash. Might as well snag oregon state.
Paul Catalina hit the nail on the head with we're done for now and we're done expanding from the west.
Wait now for the ACC to come apart.
Pitt
Louisville
Duke and
Whoever brings value.
Syracuse if going for Basketball
Personally I think NC state/Wake would be far more obtainable then Duke yes their football programs are better but Duke basketball is a monster both on the court and in the profit margins they’ve also had decent enough runs in football in the past along with their excellent academics Id be surprised if the big ten dosent pick them up assuming they try to expand south
Cant keep just recruiting basketball while not even improving football at all.
@@MasterChief806very true at least we got Utah I guess.
@@MasterChief806 Pitt and Louisville both have had a lot of success in football in the past them combined with WVU(post Neal brown)Cincy UCF would make a very solid east coast pod for the conference maybe you could add one of the North Carolina or Virginia schools (prob not wake lol) to give UCF a closer team in the south
Eight new schools. How many more slices to the pie would they expect Baylor, K-State, Texas Tech, etc. to tolerate? 16 is fine but adding more now is too much. Digest what you have for a few years. I suspect that SDSU and Oregon State will still be there when their media deal is up for renewal.
Baylor’s not “tolerating” anything….they are lucky to be in a decent conference
The nice thing is that the pie itself is growing bigger and all of the pieces for each school are still the same size.
@@bryanjones8778 it is and it isn’t. You’re starting to see trouble with the RSNs on the pro side of things. It’s only a matter of time before the cost savings end up affecting TV deals on the college sports side of things.
@@bryanjones8778not for this year or next year but does become equivalent share in 2025 when the new contract kicks in. Just FYI. That is what he (the original poster) was talking about. The 4-PAC schools added will get a bit more than 4-G5 schools (Pagan BYU is G5) will this year and next year but not a lot more. But in 2025 all 16 teams will receive equal value and equal revenue from networks, and Big12 are blocked from going beyond 16 full financial value for the remainder of the contract period most likely but not definitely. There is always wiggle room.
I say B12 add Pitt and Louisville for the B12 East
Oregon State and Wazuu would be a great fit for the Big XII, Stanford and Cal not so much, if at all. The Bay area schools should get gobbled by the B1G and do the PAC in for good!
Until the B1G pits out a revised schedule the door is still open for Stanford and Cal
As an Alum of WSU, we would not be a great fit into the BIG 12. Too many teams dilute your product. Location makes a difference and the Big 10 will show for both. Maybe look at viewership over the past decade. AZ, AZ State, and Colorado are some of the worst from the Pac-12. Utah was behind WSU until the last two years with them having SLC right there. Don't think you are going to get what you paid for.
@@seanj2370As an Alumni of WSU we would be a great fit in the Big 12. Culturally we’re closer to the former Big 8 schools than we were to the Bay Area and LA schools.
The PAC is dead, it’s time to move on. The Big 12 is the goal now, but that’s very unlikely. All we can do is pick up the pieces and hope for the best.
@@seanj2370 Oh Hell, I'm a Trojan and from what I've heard, two schools from smaller towns with good athletics programs would be right at home with the types of schools already in the Big XII. Sort of an Aggie vibe with a strong fan following. I think the cougs, beavs and Utes would dominate in football, rather than getting stuck with the Ohio St. Mich. USC, Penn ST. blue bloods and Midwestern also-rans in the B1G. Just sayin'
@@traxiii You guys don't look at the student athletes. It's location. It's the traveling across the country. That's not good for them. Go look at the comment from the Mizzou head coach, it's great. Going from Pullman to Texas, WV, Oklahoma, Kansas consistently isn't good. USC got the money but they screwed their student athletes with the travel.
Leaves room for 4 east teams in the future. Sounds perfect.
Yep, it is likely that any combination of four "leftover" teams from the ACC would be better than adding more west coast programs.
BIG12-Add Pitt, VTech, NC State & GTech?! Thoughts?
I like that ,the sooner the better
B12 will go east next.
I wonder how fast this will all happen. Everyone thought it would be after 2030 before things started happening in the ACC, but they could be happening MUCH sooner.
@@bryanjones8778 It probably depends on FSU and Clemson. If they jump ship the ACC may collapse within the next year as the top half of the conference scrambles to find a "Power 2" landing spot before all the openings get filled. That would trigger a mad dash for the exits by the remaining schools to get into the Big 12 as the only remaining life raft.
To me I think if the acc loses FSU and Clemson they should propose a merger with the big 12 and get a head start on the whole super conference craze would be a fairly solid top to bottom conference in football and the basketball would be insane including Kansas NC duke Baylor etc etc
@@Professional_street_hustler That's a nice idea, but it is doubtful that schools like North Carolina and Virginia will stay in the league when they can get into the SEC or Big Ten and make more money.
It has to!
Love this channel. We need more voices for the big 12!
Hmm!!! A former Arizona citizen that is a Utah favorite after many years with the Utah Jazz was a West Virginia favorite son and graduate. Love Hot Rod Hundley.
I hope there's no interest. Adding the first four was survival. Adding the PAC4Corners was seizing an opportunity. Half the conference is new in two years. Let's let that settle a bit.
So Colorado, Utah, U of A, ASU - 4 PAC12 schools didn't happen?
It did. Theyre talking about the 4 other Pac-12 schools
Will be interesting to see is any teams just fold the football programs.
Would be great if the big 12 could add UConn and Gonzaga for basketball
If you’re going to add anybody, add everything. Gonzaga goes without saying. But if you aren’t bringing in UConn football, leave it alone
Its the right move to hold at 16 . No value adding them.
I think the Big 12 should take all, at least 2, of the remaining PAC 4 to get into the Pacific time zone. That would make the Big 12 a true national conference before the next round of realignment, where it can focus entirely on the east.
Brett Yormark has been pretty public about having a Big 12 team in each time zone. I think it’s a move to light a fire under Oregon State and Washington State. Create panic like they did a week or two ago
All eyes on am ACC collapse. Imagine adding Duke and Syracuse along with UConn to Big 12 basketball, joining Arizona and Kansas.
Syracuse? Forget Syracuse. Add Virginia!
@KSFWG the SEC wants Virginia, they are not going to the Big 12.
North Carolina if they aren't invited to the Big Ten.
@alancrawford8749 SEC wants North Carolina, they are not going to the Big 12
Cuse fan here. Would love the B12 to add Syracuse Duke Pitt and Louisville. Expect VT and NC St in SEC and UVA UNC GT MIAMI to BIG when ACC collapses.
Hope B12 adds Gonzaga and UConn as basketball only later this month
This is crazy is the big 12 looking at acc schools 😅😅😅😅
They have a good chance to add some ACC schools next season if the ACC implodes next year which is likely.
Pitt Syracuse Virginia Tech Louisville to the Big 12
Would SDSU be a good fit for the AAC? Probably more nationwide recognition than staying in the MWC right?
Too much travel I think for a g5 school making g5 money. SDSU just needs to keep performing well and hope they get called up one day. The boats are getting full though.
SDSU is my favorite g5 team because I had friends that played on their teams when I was stationed at Miramar so I started watching them, I hope one day they get called up
If Stanford/Cal has a chance to go to the big 10 I would be happy. I got a feeling they we will go independent like Notre Dame with there NBC contract. I wouldn't mind it Apple TV mad a deal only with Stanford/CAL it would make sense.
Im still pissed off that Texas and Oklahoma are leaving. Its b.s that this will be the last season Texas plays other schools in the state of Texas. I wish that never happened, maybe then the PAC 12 would've survived. Due to convenience and the 12pm EST timeslot, the majority of CFB games I watched last season were Big 12 games. I really like how competitive it is but not worth seeing the PAC 12 collapse.
The guy in the hat likes to hear himself talk. Geez!
Dude wears his hat in the shower too
I like Craig.
@@BudFuddlacker he probably wears his hat while sleeping
Big 12 needs to add Florida State and Clemson for the long term!!!
Hahahaha have you seen the media deal big 10 has vs big 12?
Okay buddy let's just calm down. Oregon and Washington chose the B1G over the big 12 for half shares which actually comes out to slightly less than the big 12.
The big 12 will not get the premium brands unless Brett yormark is blackmailing their president
Not done
I Say add Cal and Stanford to the B12 for the academics
The pac 4 needs to add teams from the mountain west
Add, Boise St, San Diego, State, then who else?
Stanford will go Indy
They can't the mwc schools have to pay 35 million to leave right now
No, I don't believe any of these guys anymore. 2 weeks ago the pac was fine. Now it's over. The whole conference is just over. And I think the acc is next. If the acc starts to domino from the top down, the big 12 won't be done at all. I could easily see Pitt, louisville, Rutgers, Maryland being in the big 12, and soon.
No Maryland or Rutgers. Why take those from the B1G? Pitt and Louisville are perfect. Then you need to look south. Flesh out some teams near UCF.
Rutgers and Maryland? The B1G is going to kick them out?
@@orangehoof wouldn't surprise me a bit. Eventually the BIG is going to look around the room and realize they have to many mouths to feed. It doesn't matter how many you add, the money is going to max out.
Why would Maryland and Rutgers take a major pay cut and loss of exposure taking a step down
To the Big 12?
They are locked in to the new B1G tv deal and nobody is going anywhere for 6 years at least
I think the AAC takes them and they strengthen that conference. 🤷🏻♂️
They done but still talking to Gonzaga? I get that Gonzaga isn't football but???
No matter how you look the pac 12 is over and done with.piss poor management
