That looks so therapeutic bit like dried pva .. lovely stuffs.. see that is what I love when crafting, that what I make is limited edition because I don't make anything twice. Last year things you taught us, was great to make and this year is the same level of great tutorials. xx
I’m really intrigued to see how you use these Claire I’m finding the series very interesting the colours are really different from what we usually see these seem to be more flat and solid it gives a whole new dimension to things. Keep the vids coming 👌🏻 xx
Love watching you create these and so satisfying watching you break it all up, very pretty, I’ve just watching the coaster one which you used these and they turned out brilliant!! Love them!
My products finally got to me and I’m excited 💃🏽💃🏽! Please what’s the measurement for making terrazzo chips because I’m currently just testing and waiting for results. Please what’s best to pour the liquid on because I’m using a non stick baking paper. Thank you in advance
Heyyyyy lovely ... there are no measurements for Terrazzo chips. You just make as little or as much as you want with the 1:2.5 ratio still. Spread it out on some plastic. Cling film or a plastic bag will work xx
Hi Claire! Thanks a lot for the video; it was truly helpful. Regarding the plastic you used, was it a specific type or just a regular baking sheet? Thank you again! 🙂
Heyyyyyy lovely ... you can use any plastic at all ... Cling film or a Silicone mat... or plastic table cloth x anything will work as long as the plastic is totally flexible
Could you make the terrazo flakes with dried acrylic paint chips? I am asking because as an elementary school teacher I always have loads of dried paint chips.
Hey! Has anyone used these flakes for he floor also? I was wondering if they are good to go for a terrazzo floor. I am not sure how they will act at the polishing part. Any ideas? It would be sooo great to be able to switch the stones in the terrazzo mixture with this kind of flakes. Any advice? Thank you
Hi Claire! I’m planning to start with Jesmonite and these videos for beginners are just what I need! So helpful, so thankyou for that☺️ When you have made the terrazzo chips, do you need to have a lock or store them in an airtight box? Also about the plastic, do you use the same plastic for protection when you are making the trays? Or is it something else? Many questions, hopefully you will have the time to answer🥰
heyyyyy lovely ... no the terrazzo chips do not need to be stored in any special way x I just use food containers .. also the plastic I use is Polyurethane drop sheet .. it works with jesmonite and my resin x
Hi Claire. I’m just starting my Jesmonite journey, and want to make terrazzo candle vessels. I read that I should use AC730 bc it’s better for using with heat, but is it possible to make terrazzo chips with the AC730? How about mixing materials, like making the chips with AC100 and the vessel with AC730? Thank you for a lovely video and your help 😊
Heyyy Martine ... yes I have also been told AC730 for candles ... truth is I know loads who make candles from AC100 and make sure that the WICK is at least 1/1.5 inches away from edge but this would very much be a risk to the maker I suppose ... As for mixing I am afraid I do not know ... AC730 needs etching and I don't know what effect this will have on the AC100 x
heyyy lovely .. yes .. oh yes they are so much harder. not impossible though .. but much harder. In tomorrows video where i make the coasters I actually say this too .. like how hard it is after a few hours ! xxx
Hi this is called Jesmonite x with Jesmonite pigment ... Search for your nearest Jesmonite stockist. It is not available in the USA but it is available in many countries.
Hi Claire. How many grams of each do you use? I always make 2,5:1 ratio, but I find that my terrazzo chips take forever to dry. Like over 2 hours sometimes. I add in White pigment, could that be like case? It happens also when I’m not using that much White pigment
Heyyyy Cecile... oh that is a LONG time ! I'm not sure why it takes that long ... I usually do the 1:2.5 ratio also ... it might be pigment ... the only time mine have taken a long while is when I've added pigment. Try adding the pigment within the 1 ratio ... and not as an extra
Hi, i"'m from Belgium. I'm really excited about terrazzo and would love to make it at home. What od i have to buy? There isn't much to find in Belgium about this yet. Thank you.
Heyyyy lovely ... you will need Jesmonite to make Terrazzo ... I am not sure if it works the same with cement or plaster xxx Have a look for your nearest Jesmonite stockist ❤
hey lovely ... my ratio was 1:2.5 as the instructions suggest .. you can add the pigment to the liquid to ensure it is dispersed equally or you can add it after and mix thoroughly xx I often add the pigment after mixing the lot together or half way through adding the powder
Terrazzo - Italian for terrace, originally meaning a meeting place. Yes, I looked it up as I wasn't quite sure what it was. A huge thing in the 70s, it's now making a big comeback! 🙂🙂

Reminds me of the powder paints you used to use at school once they were mixed then dried, you could break up like that with the same chalky texture.

Jesmonite should be used wearing a dust mask, gloves and eye safety wear.
