Ordered up some stickers. Been watching lots of videos. Nobody wants to put new crank seals in my old 272. I will learn how to do it myself. While im in there, figured id replace the the hoses etc. You have helped me a great deal thru your videos. Knowledge is a wonderful thing to have. Thank you again.
Brother, you and a couple other guys inspired me to start my own channel a few months back. My next video is on an old Poulan. I appreciate you man. Keep on keeping on brother.
Hi I like watching you working on chainsaw and trimmer you teach me a lot greasy shop yes will buy you sticker as you a lot of no how wen it comes to repair these items scott cheers from melb /Australia
I think checking/dumping fuel is a good first step; beats taking a fuel mix bath. I work on medical equipment and routinely use the ultrasound to clean and sanitize some small parts. Since there are other tasks to be done with the same job, the parts are in the cleaner while I do the other things. Thanks Scott! I have some shopping to do; "later".
I guess I haven't been dumping the fuel because I don't know yet what direction the repair will take. Today on my repairs I'm just dumping it right away and seeing how the things progress. Thanks for your input.
@@TheGreasyShopRag Well, it is a pretty slick trick the way you empty the machine's tank into your funnel bucket and then have it to use later if its OK.
The vent line from the tank, its just forward of the fuel line that connects to the filter, that connects to a nipple on the top of the carb, but you just tucked it. did I miss you reconnecting it? and how much tubing goes into the tank?
I used to be a big fan of the older Poulan chainsaws. But they really started pumping out some low quality stuff towards the end. I use to walk into Tractor and cringe when I would see the Wild Thing models.
Question Mr. Rag.......Do you ever need to install the other odds and ends in a carb kit? I'm talking about those little aluminum bits and tiny clips that come in the kit. I don't even know what they are for.....thanks!....Later
Hey Scott I apologize for putting 2 comments in this section but I had a question for you. Have you ever seen a diagnostic break down sheet like in PDF or something else breaking down the steps in diagnosing a chain saw or weed eater etc.. I'm trying to make one based off your videos, sometimes I get so frustrated that I can't figure something out quickly for the customer. I figured if I made myself go by a set of guidelines such as you do in allot of your videos it would help. Also the VA pays once a month once I get some money brother I'm going to buy some of those stickers for my tool box. Thank you.
I need your help. My craftsman 3.3 is not oiling properly. The pump pumps fine but barely any oil goes down the bar. It just pumps out and runs all over the bar nuts and stuff and drips everywhere. I got this saw used and noticed it doesn’t have the sheet metal pieces that sandwich the bar. Is this saw supposed to? It’s like the oil needs to be redirected through the bar hole better
@@JohnDoe-ud2cc I don't remember that bar design but I wonder if the oil feed hole passes all the way through and it in fact does need that chain guide plate.
I know your a busy guy, but wjat is your small cordless screwdriver. Been wanting to get one but not sure on brand. Not the gun style the small one size of normal hand driver
@@TheGreasyShopRag lol, I specifically bought the Craftsman because of the switch placement! Just a matter of personal preference I suppose... I also don't tear down carbs every day so I may be less discriminating
I think the answer has to be either stihl, husqvarna or echo. Echo makes durable saws that cost less than the other two brands and comes with a 5 year warranty so I'd give the nod to them.
Pull On and On and On! Only issue I have with those is when the owners buy the 12 dollar Chinesium Carb , filter, gasket, fuel line kits off of Amazonian and wonder why it doesn’t work!

I watched a few of your videos and punched that subscribe button. Good luck!
@ i appreciate you man!
Thanks Scott. Because of your videos and another channel I watch. I was able to figure out a won’t run saw I have and fix it. Thanks again. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks for watching!
I have 2 of them in the garage I bought at a yard sale years ago, would like to get 1 running soon. Great video
Thanks for watching!

You're welcome!
Another fantastic video brother. Believe it or not no questions on this one. Have a wonderful rest of your week sir.

Awesome video Scott, we appreciate it an you!
Thanks for tuning in!
Morning Brother 😊😀 Another Fine Repair 👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
if you can fix a poulan, you can fix anything lol...thumbs up !!
Old Poulans are very good saws. Dependable, and easy to repair.
This is a decent older poulan. Thanks for watching!

Great vid, it reminds me of when this Christmas tree farmer hired me each year. I had hundreds of trees to cut and he hands me a poulan. Ugh 😫
Well at least he didn't hand you an axe!
Thanks bud
I'll be buying your stickers. God bless

I never disconnected it. I don't remember if its on a barb fitting or pushed threough the tank.
Luv the Poulan vids! 🪵
Lol, thanks for watching!
I LIKE YOUR VIDEO
And I appreciate you taking the time to watch it!
Another nice fix. I think the coil is bad on my mcculloch. Are they still available to get?
Thats a bummer. I'll look into that.

Same story with homelite, craftsman tools and many others.

Our labor rate usually makes it cheaper to replace a carb than to go that deep into it.
Can the carburetor screen be cleaned and re-used or is it better to just replace it?
Yes it can be cleaned.

I agree about the ultrasonic cleaner. Only use for worst case I noticed you don’t use the spark tes’r? You sure held onto the saw while running. Lol.
Don't wanna drop a saw on the floor!

Start by making sure its the correct bar and is flush with the crankcase and cover when bolted up.
@@TheGreasyShopRag yep correct bar. There was pealing paint on the bar and the case where the sandwich. I sanded the paint smooth and same thing.
@@JohnDoe-ud2cc I don't remember that bar design but I wonder if the oil feed hole passes all the way through and it in fact does need that chain guide plate.
Good old saws actually! See ya next time!
Later.
What carb is in your 3300 mine has the hda 49 an it looks nothing like your carb
Dunno. That saw has been returned to the customer.
That's a pretty decent Poulan.
Ya it a good saw.
Is that considered one of the better Poulans?
Better than many newer ones.
I know your a busy guy, but wjat is your small cordless screwdriver. Been wanting to get one but not sure on brand. Not the gun style the small one size of normal hand driver
Its something I found on Amazon. Sadly, when I wanted to buy another they are no longer available.
I bought a Craftsman and it's great for this application. Unfortunately the price seems to have doubled in the last 6 months
@@mendonesiac I also bought the Craftsman recently, not sure if its the same model. Its bigger than I expected and I don't care for the switch.

who builds the best homeowner saw today?

Modern plastic turds.
Yep, they pay once to china and then once to us.
I would have emptied the gas before I even started working on it
I guess I like livin on the edge...or at least this day I did.
