"Spend as much as you can!" I like that concept, rather than you buy cheap stuff that most of them break easily, and you buy a new one again and repeat that process. Maybe not all of us could buy high-end quality product, but with "that much" price we spend, we got "that much" quality (i learnt that from collecting knife) Greeting from Bali - Indonesia It's a trend here, we all do Ultralight Fishing (below 8lbs rating rods), but because of this situation and all access to the beach are closed, we change it to micro fishing. Its super fun, remind us of our childhood. Hope this pandemic will over soon, and we can do the thing that we all love again? Tight Lines!!
Your words on the spend is so insghtful and true mate, I have been fishing for YEARS!! with mainly low end equipment due to previous life circumstances. I have built myself into a position now where I can actually afford decent gear and I am absolutely blown away at how much better it is to fish with the higher end gear (Daiwa AIRD and custom built Gary Howard rod). I also loved how you mentioned going to a good tackle store, I love going to my local tackle store as I have just customised a Garry Howard outfit for my girlfirends first major package, the rod eyes have been re-bound with hot pink binding and it has her name embossed under the epoxy. I am doing the same for my daughter when I get her first outfit as well, this is how we build great memories and appreciation for what we are doing, if you can do this sort of the the meaning behind what we do is so much stronger. Cannot wait to see the rest of the series
This video was super helpful, im 25 years old and just learning how to fish. I've never had anyone to teach me how to fish so its a fun learning experience. Thanks for the awesome vid keep them coming
Looking forward to your light and medium tackle series - interesting you see a 4000 reel as light! I love my 1000 sized shimano ultegra on a 1 -5g rod - great for bream & flattys!
Thank you so much bro!! I used to fish a lot as a young bloke, life got in the way and I sorta fell of from it. Now my nephews are old enough I’m getting stuck back into it. Ur videos are helping me out massively! Appreciate ur work bro!!
Dude... Having seen you fishing with MT and ya kids on the beach... Even seeing the first 30sec of this... I love what you're doing for young or beginner light tackle fishos... Gold.
WHAT A GREAT VIDEO IDEA MATE !!! I'm an old girl who grew up with a fishing rod in my hand. I teach all the kids around me when I'm out there, they seem to flock to me. I like to give them a bait bag or small tackle kit as a gift when I'm getting ready to leave to go home. I got 48 years fishing experience and yet I still learn a thing or two from you! I think your instructional videos will be a great boon for the young 'uns. GOOD JOB !
Just catching on to your channel. You'll be surprised that your helping even 55yr old men like me learn to fish. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm starting to get that pump when you cast 100 times and finally get that fish you were looking for!
Possible to do a video on what to look for to avoid snags, and how you pick your tackle when dealing with rocky shores and where to cast. I live on Oahu Hawaii. Not sure if we are just fished out here but most guys cast with just a bubble float and grubs. I can't imagine your GT have a different instincts than ours. There is one tackle shop selling Malosi, but I haven't seen anyone here use them.
Hi Mate, floating stickbaits are my go to lure for GT, something about the action of them GT find really attractive. Also because they're floating you never get snagged 🤙
Well done lad. It's a big responsibility to teach people your ways of fishing and pass on knowledge. I am amazed with your ethics man. Keep on the good work you make all of us proud.
Briggsy I really like your videos, u have natural skills in front of camera and brings very authentic footage of your lovely family. We all share the same love of fishing just keep it coming!!! U rock🎣🎣🎣
I bought one of the td black 4000s last weekend. Yet to catch a fish with it but blown away with how light it is. After seeing the fish you've caught with it I'm itching to Christen it 👍👍👍
Awesome idea for the series mate. Not just for the grommets getting into fishing, but for parents and other adults who might have young ones who are keen and that didn't grow up fishing either and needs the simple advice to help keep their gromms frothing.
Looking forward to the rest Briggsy! I remember watching the moonphase and best tide times to fish on fishflicks where you and Cavy explain in detail, it taught me alot! Keep up the great work mate yewww!
Great vid, I have 3 or 4 of the Daiwa rods and just bought the limited edition TD Black which I love also the TD Black 5000 reel and a few 2016 saltist 2500-3000 great stuff I love using them NEW People just remember there is a big size difference between LT Reel range and HD reels when buying online EG a 2500 LT is smaller than say the saltist 2500, as well as Shimano reels, are smaller than the Daiwa reels. happy shopping kids
Great info this is going to be a great series ,theres less pressure chasing mid size arm strechers but they still make your heart skip a beat ,it all about fun etc cheers Briggys...👌
I forked out $300ish on my first decent reel and $100ish on my first decent rod (not a KMart one). Caught 51cm flatty and absolutely stoked! On the way home from Wardell pub for a celebratory coldie the aluminium around the bung hole came out. I shit you not. I ended up paddling for an hour in the dark balanced on the up turned hull with my dog sitting on my shoulders. Lost the lot but saved the 15merc motor and boat. It makes for a funny story but my KMart rod will do for a while again. Trying to learn to catch beach worms at the moment. Cheers.
Like a number of commentors been fishing a long time, was taught by my dad (rest his soul) but looking fwd to this series for many reasons: your content is sincere, you know what you're talking about, I respect your attitude and opinion, we will all learn something. Cheers dude.
My set up for saltwater fishing, Rod : Daiwa IKA X 86ML Reel : Abu Garcia Cardinal III sx 2000s have 2 spool, one for squid fishing and the another one for fishing fish. Line : Jabrix HS 0.5 Lure : Egi 1.5,2.5 & 3, Minnow 5cm - 8cm weight under 20gram and Metal Jig 10gram.
something i recommend if ur starting out fishing is getting a durable reel something that can get splashed a couple times and you don't need to pull apart after every trip. The reels ive had the best experiences with are penn and daiwa i especially suggest these brands because of penns sealing and waterproofing and daiwas magseal. So i recommend a smaller daiwa TD or a cheaper penn spinnfish vi anyway thats what i suggest tight lines yeew
Brilliant.. I only know how to fish here in Scandinavia, but i wanna know how to fish warmer waters.. And you are the maaaan.. Thank you so much for your videos.. Awesome :)
Mannn......l thought you stopped youtubering or something.....Wowww definitely glad to see another video from you guys.....Keep up sharing great videos..... Cheers mate.......
Yea I’m 14 and have a job but I don’t earn that much I have 2 years of fishing experience heres my favourite budget gear .reel daiwa legalis lt 2000-2500 best rods . Daiwa td Nero. Atomic arrows bream surface rod 2pc best lines for main daiwa j braid x8 for leader line sunline fc rock or pryml mono for That’s just based on my personal experience I have aird lt which is ok but I wouldn’t recommend getting it because you can get a legalis lt for a little bit more which is way better .
Really like this idea mate! I never had anyone teach me so I had to learn everything for myself, which did work fine don't get me wrong - but if you have someone to show you at least the basics it definitely helps a bunch. Cheers mate
Good idea Briggsy, the one playlist to answer all the "what gear" comments that drop. Bro the haircut looks clean, have you even been in lockdown 🤣. I've got a mop on my head at the moment
Awesome idea Briggsy you put great info vids together. Just wondering if you could discuss rod length and action next time, for those (like me) who aren't that familiar with the number/letter ids. Thanks!
Totally agree with buying quality. I've still got a twin power 2500fb that's over 10 years old and as good as the day I bought it. Are you sponsored by Daiwa or something Briggsy? Plenty of options apart from that one company. Ian Miller customs are the best light tackle sticks in my view. Zodias is also right up there. Samaki gear is highly underrated.
This series will be very helpful for me. A few questions What exactly does the drag weight rating mean on the reels? The weight rating on rods? And the pound rating on lines?
Hi Mate, if a reel says "10kg drag' it can put 10kgs of pressure on the line when you turn the drag knob all the way to locked, only certain situations you would ever need to fully lock a reel and most the time you'd be using much less than max drag. Weight on rods, if it's a single number like '375g' is prolly the actual weight of the rod, but if you see CW (cast weight) '30g-100g' for example then that's talking about what lure weights you can safely throw with the rod. lb rating on line is the breaking strain of the line in lbs, so if you have 10lb line, in theory you can put up 10lbs of pressure on it before it snaps.
"Spend as much as you can!"
I like that concept, rather than you buy cheap stuff that most of them break easily, and you buy a new one again and repeat that process.

I bought a reel with a 100 yard spool and 2kg drag. Should of got the td sol 3 2500s instead
I love this series it just sucks that we can’t get the same gear here in the US
Any recommendations for light tackle gear for the US?
Btw Briggsy!! I love your videos and some day I’d love to hook up on a GT!!
Can you an you please do a review on the diawa crossfire LT 2500
