I think boxing is cool...but I like mma the most. One thing I gotta applaud is how professional Floyd is when he comes back after these long layoffs. He always looks just as good as ever. A lot of UFC fighters look like crap when they come back after a long layoff. In fact it almost always hurts them. So hats off to Floyd for hard work and preparation. Im sure his trainers play a big part also.
Mayweather is the best of our time weather people accept it or not ...I mean he deserves the props and the respect he earned it 17 years of hard work dedication...Hopefully our up and coming new generation will be as good as our current and passed greats and keep this sport alive like mayweather is doing
I think it was G Hernandez. It was the guy he won his first title from and Floyd outboxed him. I think it was a TKO but, it was very impressive fight on both ends. Floyd at 130-140 was a pure beast. I think Gatti and Zab were his last real prime fights.
Y'all haters can say what you want about Floyd! He's a stand up dude! Real Talk! Nobody can judge him on all the actions he made in the past! The best thing to do is move forward!
Usually hate this guy's personality, but this post press conference is extremely professional. He's starting to act like a real champion of boxing and life. Well done Floyd.
This is from HBO: Ward (entering at 25-0 with 13 KOs; age 28; from Oakland), the WBA and WBC super middleweight champion, was 168 pounds on Friday, while Dawson (31-1 with 17 KOs; age 30; from New Haven, CT). On fight night, Dawson was 185, while Ward went up to 176.
Guerrero's face looks like he just went through a sparring session. With the exception of some minor cuts on his eyebrows, there's no swelling and no red marks after 12 rounds with floyd. That's 12 one-sided rounds where Floyd basically teed off on a flat footed fighter.
Very true, just saw some gifs that highlighted what you're talking about. I was shocked Pac didn't prepare for that style knowing it's Marquez's trademark.
I see a lot of people have a lot of hate for Floyd, and while I'm not too fond of him personally, the fact is he is a technician in the ring. There should be no disputing that.
This is how I know you ain't a real fight fan. Real fight fans appreciate the art and the mastery behind that kind of defense, foot work, counterpunching skills, speed, accuracy, dominance, and the list goes on and on. If all you are interested in is knockouts, get your camera, set it up, stand behind a horse and pull its tail. When you wake up, watch it over and over and as you try to remember what happened, each time should feel like your watching a new knockout. Stop talkin!!!
Robert handled him self with class, he lost and nothing wrong with that, he gave it his best shot, and I respect him for that, because of the way he didn't come out and say anything stupid, he just said, "he'll be back and he tried his best and he didn't make any excuses." That's proper sportsmanship... So much respect to the man..
If you're gonna call someone an idiot, at least know the difference between your and you're. And the point isn't for Ward to come down in weight, it's for Canelo to go up.
canelo is strong but he is too flat footed, i see mayweather doin the same thing to him as he did guerrero BUT atleast canelo would putup more of a fight.
Well, he's fighting him next & everyone is now saying he's going to win easy. My point proven exactly. He's fought Trout & had issues, if you watch Guerrero fight & go and watch Broner v Malinaggi, people who thought Broner ever had a shot at Mayweather are now convinced Mayweather is the best. I don't think there's ever been a fighter who has literally DOMINATED the sport for almost 2 decades straight, with no apparent weaknesses. The only flaw people ever point to is the Moseley shot!
Running away is basically not wanting to fight. Using your superior reflexes and footwork to avoid being hit is a boxing TECHNIQUE. Having a powerful punch and a good chin doesn't make you a boxer.#JustSaying
Yes I totally agree. Just watch a street fight instead those that want to see a pure brawl or even better brawl themselves. Those who know boxing understand, the haters are just wasting their time.
I don't understand why everyone discredits Guerrero, but thinks Canelo was a more worthy opponent. Up until Trout, Canelo hadn't fought anybody relevant. Guerrero was on a hot streak, and he was a game and talented opponent. Oh well, thats what they used to say about Mosley when he was on top, and Roy Jones when he was on top, and Ali when he was on top. People just love to hate. I seriously think that a guy like khan can give Floyd more trouble because of his foot speed.
did eh fight the bess..did he fight morales marquez barerra when they were in their prime in the lower divisions, did he fight mosely and oscar when they were in their mid 30z? Did he make little hatton and marquez shoot up to a weight they were not accustomed to? Did he fight pacquiao? Will he fight martinez or alvarez?
Why do "I just started watching boxing" fans continue to dislike Floyd. Is it because he's great at his craft, he talks shit, he whoops ass or is it because he beat your favorite boxer. Ali talked shit, Tyson talked shit so why is it wrong for him to do it? Floyd said on numerous occasions that it's about selling tickets, selling the ppv, getting fans and haters to fill those seats. Hate him or love but respect his game, he's 44-0, I said "44-0" that's because he's damn good.
Glory to God!! This guy is the real deal when it comes to his relationship with the Lord. He came to our church every Sunday leading up to the fight. PRAISE THE LORD!!!
It don't matter who you put in front of Floyd, he will always come out on top. All the critics say the next opponent is gonna be the one to get him. But after Floyd outclassed them, then they say his opponent was cherry-picked or a nobody. Well, nobody expected Buster Douglas to KO Mike! Anything can happen when you get in the ring, and Money always ends up victorious
Its pretty cool that hes form grand rapids, MI. My grandma used to babysit mayweather when he was young. And floyd senior came to my aunt and uncles wedding.
No, never noticed that. I have noticed that Mayweather has fought a lot of guys who were ALREADY losing fights though. By the time he fought Cotto he was already getting his ass kicked by everyone. Same with Mosley. Same with Gatti. Same with De la Hoya. Same with Judah. Guerrero was alright. Corrales and Castillo were good but that was back in 2003. Canelo is the first top fighter Mayweather's fought for 10 years. With that said, Mayweather should still win.
Have you seen the fight, Robert Guerrero vs Andre Berto? Guerrero isn't a 6-time world champion in 4 different weight divisions for no reason. He's official. He only stood there towards the middle rounds because he was getting countered repeatedly. As far as Pacman, I hope they fight so the fans don't have to fight online. It's going to be hard for Pac to win without a solid jab. You can't feint the jab and lead with the straight-left all night cause Floyd's a counter puncher.
Guerrero wanted to win, he was just dealing with Mayweather. You can see it in Guerrero's eyes, that he wanted to knock Floyd out. But Mayweather's skill level, was just vastly superior in every way. And right now, Mayweather is ducking Alvarez. So we'll never see that fight.
There are to many folks hating on this dude. Praying for his down fall. It's pathetic, because he's a great fighter regardless of what how his haters feel about him.
He can't be beat, no one can see him shut up in leave it at that. I don't care for him but give it to him. No one is as fast or can BOX as good as him even at his age. Man is boxing like he is 21. You can't see him not now not never!
google this title: Smith: Canelo rules out fighting Mayweather at a catchweight Also, de la hoya and cotto both don't rehydrate 20+ pounds, so mayweather took the risk of going 154 because worst case scenario he would be fighting a guy a couple pounds over him. There was a lot of beef between de la hoya and mayweather, it would've been foolish not to fight him.
I thought (an OLD) De La Hoya beat Floyd, and so did one of the judges (Tom Kaczmarek). Look at Floyd's eyes and reaction when he was announced the winner of the De La Hoya fight. He also thought he might have lost. Floyd's NOT indestructable. He's good, and he's very smart with whom he picks to fight. Listen to this video and he talks about carefully choosing who he's going to fight. If he thinks Canelo can beat him, he won't fight 'em. If he doesn't fight Canelo next, he prob never will
who doesn't like this Floyd? sure he's not the most charismatic nor is he a STAR, but the guy is a testament to true genius and hard work, a perfect combo. no one should ever hate on this guy. Anyways BOLD PREDICTION: the guy who can actually beat him, not cause he s better, but due to style, would be Danny Garcia from what i seen.
Floyd has experience...Robert has not faced anyone like Floyd....but he did have a good game plan. Good fight the best person so far that faced him is Robert he tried.
His fight against Trout was impressive considering how well Trout did against Cotto. You gotta have some power & a great chin to knock down & take punches from a big guy like Trout. There is no better opponent out there for Floyd to fight. If Floyd were smart he'd try to make the Pacquiao fight cause u know pac's depleted & lacks dedicated while boxing fans would jump at the chance to see that fight despite how these two guys have strung the sport along.
Floyd Mayweather IS number 1 p4p and IS one of the greatest of all time. His technical skills, defense, handspeed, accuracy, reflex, and counter-punching is unmatched by nearly everyone preceeding him. Kill this "pure boxing" noise, too, because Mayweather is as pure as you're going to get. He's better than most of the old school fighters who were mostly sluggers and not as skilled as Mayweather. Just face it.
'That dude who keeps yawning at the back is so unprofessional, why did he turn up for the interview if he was too exhausted.Someone should fire his backside..Great post interview, congratulations to the champ...'
First it was Corrales, then Chavez, Castillo, Corley, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir, DE LA HOYA, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto, now Guerrero, the list just goes on and on and on and on and on. Who the hell is Canelo and who has he fought? NOBODY. Think that guy is a test compared to a De La Hoya? Hell no.
First off Im a huge fan a slick fast flashy fighters like Floyd, Roy Jones, Sugar Ray, and Sweetpea. Floyd is a great fighter but he had some missed opportunies in his career to take on more serious challenges. Im a huge Floyd fan but I still say he retired a few years back because Paul Williams was tearing through 147 at 6'2" throwing over 100 punches per round. Margartio was the most feared @ 147 and that fight was missed too. Sugar Shane was missed in early 2000s. Winky Wright, Kosta Z.
Y'all try entirely too hard to scrutinize Mayweather. You say he's overrated and "scared", yet he hasn't lost a match in nearly 18 years. Not one. Face it. He's great. Stop letting his arrogance (which is only arrogance for the cameras) blind you from his skill.
He was actually mellow for this fight compared to others & considering all the trash talk coming out of Ruben "the idiot" Guerrero...it's pretty impressive to see floyd maturing...at age 36 lol
Why can't people just appreciate Floyd's boxing tecnique. He is the best defender. When he punches he lands a high number of them. His plan is to frustrate fighters and then he goes to work. People just need to shut up and appreciate his style of boxing.
If you KNOW boxing, that was a beautiful display of offense AND defense. Show me a boxer who loves toe to toe and I will show you a boxer with slurred speech in a few years.
The boxers who move up and down don't stay undefeated beyond there mid 30's...dropping weight hurts your conditioning more than u know. U can say what u want about mayweather but the man continues to show why his is the best. The only way to beat this guy is to KO him within the first 2-3 rounds, after that he has already adjusted to nullify your best weapons & systematically picks u apart winning easily....it's truly spectacular to watch. This guerrero fight was a fucking masterpeice.
Sugar ray Leonard, hector camacho, pernell Whitaker,Ali.....all stick move technicians ....all hall of famers....it is one style in the sport of boxing....and they all made p4p at one time....so why not Floyd?!!!
People don't understand that Floyd is a very humble and quiet guy. His MONEY brand sells seats. Its smart marketing. Somebody has to be the bad guy, why not play the position and gather the riches?
yeah paul williams isn't gonna be fighting anyone. You say Floyd has no power but you haven't fought him. He doesn't really commit too punches like other fighters do because if u miss it leaves u open like pacquiao. Floyd pot shots with his primary focus being speed & not telegraphing. If u watched the Guerrero fight u can see some right hands to the head & body that moved & doubled over Guerrero clearly knocking him off balance. His style isn't to look for the KO, it's to progress thru 12 rnds
The first fight with Castillo was close I agree. But I'm tired of Floyd haters making the implication that Jose beat him HANDS DOWN. Would I have been mad to see it go to Jose? No. But it could have gone EITHER WAY. It was that close. As far as you translating outboxing to "running" you just blew your credibility. The sport is called BOXING! It's not called stand flat footed, never move, & trade shots with the other guy. They're in a SQUARE!! There ain't THAT many places to "run".
Watch going out on top 49-0. I don't like him at all but you can't take it away from him , you heard it first here " he won't be beat" his hand was hurt and still was rocking off on Robert.
ehhh its not even about the money its about the legacy at this point...AND if he dont fight him then that will stain their legacy because everybody will be forever wondering about that fight...i still feel like manny and floyd owe us fans that fight it would be an epic last fight of their career and im pretty sure there will be a rematch :) good for their legacy and great for the sport of boxing
What a legend. The greatest ever.
Im sure his trainers play a big part also.
cmon bro give floyd props he brought his own style and showed us many things
Yes I agree Zab made a good effort against floyd but floyd class came through. Floyd boxing pedigree is more pure
Mayweather is the best of our time weather people accept it or not ...I mean he deserves the props and the respect he earned it 17 years of hard work dedication...Hopefully our up and coming new generation will be as good as our current and passed greats and keep this sport alive like mayweather is doing

He'll outclass Canelo too.
And he did
Excellent fighter, born for this
Usually hate this guy's personality, but this post press conference is extremely professional. He's starting to act like a real champion of boxing and life. Well done Floyd.
Genius of a boxer. Best of our generation.
This is from HBO:
Ward (entering at 25-0 with 13 KOs; age 28; from Oakland), the WBA and WBC super middleweight champion, was 168 pounds on Friday, while Dawson (31-1 with 17 KOs; age 30; from New Haven, CT). On fight night, Dawson was 185, while Ward went up to 176.
Good interview
One of the greatest displays of defensive boxing Mayweather is truly a great fighter 5 more to go!
He's the CEO I think for the MGM Grand Hotel - it's a huge event to bring to his Hotel, so he's paying his respects & doing his part to thank Floyd.
Guerrero was his mandatory opponent for the 147lb title, since he was the interim champion he was chosen to fight him by the boxing commission.
who was the person he was talking about being in the poster above his bed?
Floyd - Love your fucking attitude now. Thank you for giving these boxers a good pay day... People fail to realize that...
LOL funniest comment I read so far. In an Interview recently, Marquez expressed he don't want any of that Mayweather mastery ever again!
Guerrero's face looks like he just went through a sparring session. With the exception of some minor cuts on his eyebrows, there's no swelling and no red marks after 12 rounds with floyd. That's 12 one-sided rounds where Floyd basically teed off on a flat footed fighter.
O Kay you dont get cuts sparring dipdick
The fight was something expected, Mayweather running, Guerrero working. That'll give the star the win every time.
@carlos torres how is he ducking him when he just got out a fight ?
This is how I know you ain't a real fight fan. ok. can someone please tell me who the white guy in the suite is? Is he the Bob Arum of Showtime?
Send a Chicano to do a real Mexican's job and this is what you get! CANELO won't disappoint. ..
My props to FM, he's amazing really.
He's reconciled with his father, I see…
Flomo dont want none of canelo.......he could fight glass chin khan next for all i care
If you're gonna call someone an idiot, at least know the difference between your and you're. And the point isn't for Ward to come down in weight, it's for Canelo to go up.
i have to agree with you , i stopped buying fights after "manny vs bradley" fight , i still watch but when it comes to spending money im all set...
Floyd has made the transformation from boyhood to manhood.. .....Respect.....
Much more professional now. Glad to see and hear.
canelo is strong but he is too flat footed, i see mayweather doin the same thing to him as he did guerrero BUT atleast canelo would putup more of a fight.
Well, he's fighting him next & everyone is now saying he's going to win easy. My point proven exactly. why dont you just download it on torrentz? Its free!!!
You know you beat the breaks off of someone when they start praising God
Who is he talkin' about at 13:29?
I don't understand why everyone discredits Guerrero, but thinks Canelo was a more worthy opponent. Up until Trout, Canelo hadn't fought anybody relevant. mayweather fought MOSLEY, COTTO, DELAHOYA, MARQUEZ, CORRALES, HATTON (none of which were push overs) among countless others...he IS skill
did eh fight the bess..did he fight morales marquez barerra when they were in their prime in the lower divisions, did he fight mosely and oscar when they were in their mid 30z? Did he make little hatton and marquez shoot up to a weight they were not accustomed to? Did he fight pacquiao? Will he fight martinez or alvarez?
boxing has truly fallen from grace when this dude is the best they can offer
Why do "I just started watching boxing" fans continue to dislike Floyd. Is it because he's great at his craft, he talks shit, he whoops ass or is it because he beat your favorite boxer. Ali talked shit, Tyson talked shit so why is it wrong for him to do it? Floyd said on numerous occasions that it's about selling tickets, selling the ppv, getting fans and haters to fill those seats. I want to see a Marquez and Mayweather rematch now!!
"It's chess, it's not not checkers" is from Training Day.
Glory to God!! This guy is the real deal when it comes to his relationship with the Lord. He came to our church every Sunday leading up to the fight. PRAISE THE LORD!!!
Andre Ward also does not fight at 170, he may weigh in at that but fights way heavier
Floyd really respectful to Guerrero
Its pretty cool that hes form grand rapids, MI. My grandma used to babysit mayweather when he was young. And floyd senior came to my aunt and uncles wedding.
Smart boxer period
No, never noticed that.
I have noticed that Mayweather has fought a lot of guys who were ALREADY losing fights though.
By the time he fought Cotto he was already getting his ass kicked by everyone.
Same with Mosley.
Same with Gatti.
Same with De la Hoya.
Same with Judah.
Guerrero was alright. Corrales and Castillo were good but that was back in 2003. Canelo is the first top fighter Mayweather's fought for 10 years.
With that said, Mayweather should still win.
Roy said it best. And they got the nerve to say I dont fight nobody, I just make em' look like nobody
As long as Floyd Mayweather continues to fight everybody like he fought Arturo Gatti, he'll keep pitching shutouts.
Guerrero wanted to win, he was just dealing with Mayweather. You can see it in Guerrero's eyes, that he wanted to knock Floyd out. But Mayweather's skill level, was just vastly superior in every way. And right now, Mayweather is ducking Alvarez. So we'll never see that fight.
timothy B isnt a bad matchup they both train hard but Timothy isnt ready for a fight with Floyd I can see Trout facing Floyd instead of Timothy
There are to many folks hating on this dude. Praying for his down fall. It's pathetic, because he's a great fighter regardless of what how his haters feel about him.
finally good sportsmanship
Glad I streamed fight for free!!!
Mayweather gains Class with age.....he is truly one of the Greats
Sir Spam-Alot ladies and gentlemen.... lets have a round of applause :/
He can't be beat, no one can see him shut up in leave it at that. I don't care for him but give it to him. No one is as fast or can BOX as good as him even at his age. Man is boxing like he is 21. You can't see him not now not never!
google this title:
Smith: Canelo rules out fighting Mayweather at a catchweight
Also, de la hoya and cotto both don't rehydrate 20+ pounds, so mayweather took the risk of going 154 because worst case scenario he would be fighting a guy a couple pounds over him. There was a lot of beef between de la hoya and mayweather, it would've been foolish not to fight him.

sure he's not the most charismatic nor is he a STAR, but the guy is a testament to true genius and hard work, a perfect combo. no one should ever hate on this guy.
Anyways BOLD PREDICTION: the guy who can actually beat him, not cause he
s better, but due to style, would be Danny Garcia from what i seen.
lol... Yes it really is. It's not like the ring is large. You can make use of it however you like.
Floyd has experience...Robert has not faced anyone like Floyd....but he did have a good game plan. Good fight the best person so far that faced him is Robert he tried.

It wouldn't be easy for Canelo to move up to 168. But why would Floyd fight Delahoya, and Cotto at 154, but not fight Alvarez at that weight?
Floyd Mayweather IS number 1 p4p and IS one of the greatest of all time. His technical skills, defense, handspeed, accuracy, reflex, and counter-punching is unmatched by nearly everyone preceeding him. Kill this "pure boxing" noise, too, because Mayweather is as pure as you're going to get. He's better than most of the old school fighters who were mostly sluggers and not as skilled as Mayweather. Floyd is not a businessman. He's a business, man.
Where is ruben, how come he aint gassin now...
yeah paul williams isn't gonna be fighting anyone. You say Floyd has no power but you haven't fought him. Floyd is the best of the best, there's no doubt about that , and he's quick to always compliment his opponent.
I would like to see Floyd fight Canelo,Sergio Martinez , pacquiao, then he could retire as the best fighter that ever lived
what about leonard ducking pryor?
If he doesn't want to fight Canelo he should fight Maravilla or Pac, even Marquez now that he is comfortable with the weight.
You call him an idiot but check Canelo's fighting weight vs Trout. (172lbs) he made the 154 but fought at 172.
fought and beat everyone guerrero was in his prime who else can he fight? the best boxer thats lived ever
Watch going out on top 49-0. I don't like him at all but you can't take it away from him , you heard it first here " he won't be beat" his hand was hurt and still was rocking off on Robert.
He's 30 years old and has had 34 professional fights. Do you even know what you're talking about?
That's right. 44-0. So what? Chris John is 48-0. Ricardo Lopez retired 53-0.
ehhh its not even about the money its about the legacy at this point...AND if he dont fight him then that will stain their legacy because everybody will be forever wondering about that fight...i still feel like manny and floyd owe us fans that fight it would be an epic last fight of their career and im pretty sure there will be a rematch :) good for their legacy and great for the sport of boxing
