- The Cowl unique helmets were added to Path of Exile as part of the Blight league patch 3.8 content update. A lot has changed in Path of Exile since then, including the very recent removal of Labyrinth helmet enchantments, a system which was used in mind to design these helmets. With the helmet enchantment system gone, the Cowls received a significant stealth buff which largely went under the radar in patch 3.23 and 3.24.

@@dreamcore_ggsame here, and grasp still makes more thematic sense to me, as it's an amulet that wraps around your neck, like a strangling hand grasping your throat, so I suspect that contributes to the confusion

I made one this league for my ballistas and it was well worth the investment. I forget what exactly i put on it, it was a frenzy charge from duelist and something totem up my heirophant.
52 attempts on average for Wilmas (1/4 for brick then 1/13 for mythic), actually not as bad as I was thinking it would be. Still very expensive if your anoints use any silver or gold oils. Also the supply on these is pretty low - the str one has shot up to 3.5d, must be someone going for abyssus.

Since you can still anoint corrupted items it seems the optimal trade league play would be to trade for a bunch for cheap, corrupt them all, then anoint the ones with added implicits.
It's a stretch for the Cowls' anoints on their own to outweigh the negatives. But toss in an additional "+1 to maximum power charges" and they become much more interesting. Could single handedly enable a power charge stacking build on the bottom of the tree.
Getting that power charge corruption on Willclash still sounds better, and it's dirt cheap to buy en masse too.
i used this last league cause twwt was so good for power charge stacking. annoint 2 power charge+1 from helmet. badge of brotherhood and slayer
The negatives shouldn't be that bad. You got methods to only care about fire res for example
Another good thing about using [Tempered by War] + [Dvine Flesh] is to be able to use [Doryani's Prototype]. Yes, -50% damage, but by using a perfect [Melding of the Flesh] (-80% to all resists) and [Thread of Hope] (-20% to all resists), the lightning resistance can be set as -80%, without the trouble of capping 470 for Fire + Cold Resistances.
These just need a light buff change reduced to 5-20 resist slap on a 10-40 life and boom they are viable again.
Damn that Lightning build using Ceraunophile and Font of Thunder has got me curious. Pity the shield doesn't go to 50% conversion. I did remember these helms, and Font of Thunder, but what I'd really forgotten was Replica Nebulis. Now that combo I find interesting! I'm thinking all that, using Glacial Cascade that converts from phys to cold and then converting it all to fire with Cold to Fire and Avatar of Fire, played on an Elementalist for Shaper of Storms to shock and wearing either Doppelganger's Guise defensively or Replica Covenant offensively, as well as Replica Dragonfang's Flight or alternatively Yoke of Suffering on another class. You make full use of Replica Nebulis and ignore all resists on gear but chaos. This is probably not worth it, but if you really want to shift the remaining 10% as well, you can use the Purity of Lightning version of Sublime Vision jewel.
Yeah it's a fun combo I'd like to explore a bit at some point

The gloves from this set was one i enjoyed using quite a bit. It removed the kaom gloves from my rotation of items but it was nice to use em as a pseudo headhunter type of effect.
I used the gloves once in a build back in heist league. I remember it because it was my first 100 and I needed the gloves for a second anoint - I was pleasantly surprised by the headhunter style buffs it provided, nice mapping
@@dreamcore_gg used em back in crucible instead of kaoms for a pure ele wander with the returning proj abuse... It was an amazing mapping and mini game experience.

By the Strength +45 mod on the tree is an Annoint for stand still an enemies cover in ash gaining 20% Fdmg/Bdmg Taken...
eyes of the greatwolf can roll 100% dmg from X fire/cold/light hits taken as X elemental damage, sadly only for one element

it's unfortunate that these helmets have so many things that could be tweaked slightly just to make them even worth considering.
if they said (fire) resistances are capped. or if they only reduced res by 40% (which seems reasonable to me, that's kinda like having +48% res on helmet if counting towards overall need of res to fully spec them.)

No mention of Annihilating Light for 0 res. Use Rat Cage/Doryani's Prototype and Greatwolf Talisman to convert the other two, or Incandescent Heart with Sublime Vision.
The issue with rat cage, greatwolf etc. is you just die instantly to elemental DoT

I would probably not use the helmet to set fire res to 75%. Rather one of the others and still scale fire res so you can scale phys as fire with tempered by war and the shield
How do they combine with the items that reduce mentioned resist ceraunophile + Lightning Coil. Doesn't that just make you straight up ignore the drawback ? Or The Perfect Form + Cryophile.
Yes you'd ignore any minus, reduced or less resistance modifiers as it's always set to 75%
Could you please further explain how the cowl of the thermophile interacts with both of the Chieftain ascendancies?
Would my resista be locked at 75 37.5 37.5 ??? (Assuming 50% reduced cold and lightning)
The reduced resistance modifiers from the cowl of the thermophile have no effect since the 'Your fire resistance is 75%' modifier is a fixed amount, and Tasalio makes modifiers to fire resistance be applied to cold and lightning resistance at 50% of their value. Therefore that modifier can be read as also providing 'Your cold and lightning resistances are 37%'. Valako would have no impact at all
Ive been brewing for a few days on a new build, but so far i havent really gotten too far. so many promising things that dont really work (planning on making a doryanis prototype build that doesnt take lightning damage.
how does tempered by war work? it says 50% LESS lightning res, so would it also reduce the negative lightning res and weaken my doryanis?
the helmet looked so nice, but it reduces my negative lightning res, so it wont work with doryanis prototype :/
and had already looked at replica nebulis, but since it cant do lightning damage it doesnt suit my purposes.
if you go for replica nebulis with phys to cold, cold to fire conversion (how would you go about that btw?), you kinda HAVE to use 2 of them right? cause if you go through the trouble of so much conversion, you need to use it all you can right? also, wouldnt it make the most sense to go with an archmage setup instead of starting with physical damage? archmage (lightning damage in general) just gives you such a huge amount of raw damage, that converting it to cold, and using the 300% increased cold damage mod of nebuilis, and then converting the resulting damage with 300 increase to fire should give you a way bigger number than going for physical damage right?
there is currently so little you can do with doryanis prototype.
aside from a ventors gamble, thread of hope and maybe melding of the flesh, nothing really fits.
Yeah, unfortunately not a great fit with doryani's. It's such a fun item too but not a whole lot of options for it

i fear my game knowledge is too lacking to really create my own build. i have several things i want to combine, but im not really sure if what im doing is even possible.
Great video, what about exosure and penetration? I guess the mod makes exposure harmless for chosen element, but not sure how it will work with penetration.
Probably should have mentioned penetration, but yes penetration works as normal, your resistance for that type is set to 75% so if an enemy hit has 10% pen, the damage would be dealt as if you had 65% resistance

probably best use case right now is trying to make a double Enchanted Wilma's. Maybe for an EA Ignite Totem build? Probably together with a Spirital Command and Redemption Enchant so you gain 32% increased Attack Speed from the Enchants and can use the Crafted Minion Attack/Cast Speed Mod for an additional 56% Attack Speed for a total 88% Attack Speed
Yeah Wilma's is great, there's quite a few builds using it at the moment, self ignite is a big one with Mokou's
@@dreamcore_ggI used caustic arrow of poison ballista last league with Wilma's. But I had no guts to try to Taint Mythic Wilma's, because it's a 90% fail rate. I hit on Starkonja a few times and sold for lots of Divines - Starkonja hits about 50% the time with a mythic orb.
@@dreamcore_gg Yeah I'm surprised nobody else has really done the self ignite wilma + mokou's. There's so many cheap ways to get unaffected now, and late game you get rare boots with elevated mod. I have theory crafted a bunch, the issue is I came to the same conclusion as Ziz, which was to use artillery ballista. Unfortunately it does not really overlap enough. TR of sporeburst was the other idea.
Yeah mythic orbing into abyssus and Wilma’s are really the only use case for these.
You could anoint brick mythic into an abyssus
i just used the thermophile one to make a 2 annoint abyssus for a cyclone build
What happens when you put on a Loreweave that sets your resistances to 78 and also wear one of these helmets?
Loreweave sets your maximum resistances, not your actual resistance value. So your maximum resistance would be 78% but your resistance(for the type on the helmet) would be fixed at 75%. Only really useful for avoiding minus max resistance modifiers

You could also pair it with Doryni's Prototype and just worry about fire res and chaos res
The reduced lightning resistance also reduces negative resistance, so it has anti-synergy with doryani's

This I have absolutely no idea about - I wasn't playing the game when blight league launched, but I believe I read somewhere fairly recently that there are still some undiscovered vendor recipes in the game
This helmet have 1 more trick if corrupt ezomyte burgonet and its brick to rare using tainted orb to convert to Abyssus with 2 annoints

Its not that its gone unnoticed, its just that 75% is not good enough in todays path of exile so no one will use the helmets for that reason. If it was 85% on the other hand, or heck even 80 (or a roll between those values) they could potentially see more use for sure

I assume you're talking about the section on font of thunder? I said it has 'a very good amount of evasion and energy shield' which is a pretty accurate statement, it's not like energy shield is useless with divine flesh, we have EB

I recently was wondering, what if there was a Character with the Ascendancy "You have the entire passive skill tree + all ascendancies active and cannot deactivate anything. And you cannot use magic, rare or unique items"?
Would it be playable? Op or just bricked?
Had the idea when reading over Mahuxotls Machination. There you get a bunch of Keystones, you cant pick and chose. Its the entire package or nothing.
Hahaha that woud be pretty funny for them to do for some event mode, but it's not really the sort of thing I'd do on my channel, it's just too much time thinking about how all of these modifiers would interact for something that would never be a thing

a lot of uniques in this game would be viable if they didn't have arbitraty downsides for no reason.
The reason is balance and build diversity. If you make a unique with no downsides you get something like the old ralakesh boots in 3.23 where every build was using them.

There’s very few build that don’t benefit from more crit chance, resistances, and attack/cast speed. Even if they have 0 other investment in charges.

So to sum up a 16 min video, these helmets are garbage which only took 1 second to say. Good info and explanation but it seems GGG uniques consist of 90% worthless items unless your a POE rocket scientist that can combine pcs that will make a good build.
