Another source of action speed mitigation is the Balance of Terror: Action Speed cannot be Slowed below Base Value if you've cast Temporal Chains in the past 10 seconds
For Bane it is worth considering that it does provide 20% increased effect from quality, so you do kind of have a choice of going without quality for a bit longer duration, or having quality and starting from 90% base effect instead of 75%. The thing I've always liked with Bane though for casting curses is the curses don't have a cost when cast that way, you just have the cost of Bane itself and the curses doesn't apply any cost multiplier to it. So you can triple curse using just the mana cost of a 1-link Bane.
Probably the only "real" build that can use this is Impending Doom Scion, Where you get your curse cast speed in line with ID base cd (0.15) or decrease that to ~0.1 with cdr stat for 10 casts second max Then stack up curse effect from ascendant occu and tree and gear, so that expiry time is less than cd. This may be easier to reach on a low roll Fated End, so pick your poison. Its also very notable here that ID hits with the curse still counting as applied, so using a L20 Despair will let you hit with 200% Effect Despair.
I feel like you could go the opposite direction, getting a min-roll Fated End and stack curse effect to get it to expire fast and proc an impending doom.
Another cool aspect I was hoping you would bring up is using it in conjunction with impending doom. You could get your curse effect high enough to "auto pop" which could be a cool alternative to the vixen entrapment gloves
Worth consideration I think for this series purely as a slept on levelling unique that can carry from act 3 on, Chalice of Horrors, just self cast despair and the decay from the shield will do the rest Edit: you can pair it with this ring since it also has low level requirements
This is really cool! I'll have to check out some more of these videos, they have a nice production quality, I enjoy the focus on lesser-used uniques, and the skyrim music hits the nostalgia perfectly :D
there has got to be some way to combine its countdown increased curse effect with bane to yield a massive explosion. i don't play curses enough to know how, but the pairing seems so natural.
how does it interact with Asenath's Gentle Touch's "Non-Aura Curses you inflict are not removed from dying enemies"? I assume it's similar to Hex Master?
Talking about itens introduced in heist league, i would love if the "font of thunder" get a buff to 50% cold and fire taken as light, instead of the actual 40%. This ill allow use it with corrupted soul timeless, to conv all elemental to light and chaos, similar to the mahuxtol+ tempered by war combo. Tbh my dream it's a way to conv 100% dam take to the elem of your choice, since rn we can just 100% conv to fire (timeless + sublime vision+ dawnbreaker), more perfect yet if we make any element be associated to one base Def phys>fire, cold>Eva, light>ES
Glad you're enjoying them! There are many many uniques that aren't used much, some like this ring which aren't really specific to melee/caster etc. I'm sure there are some more melee focused ones though, perhaps I'll get around to a few in this series
you can also scale curse effect to instant expire impending doom. despair quality gives curse effect so it's actually not that hard. i pob'd a build with 12 triggers and it has 200m dps i just dont have defences lol
i see the best interaction in Impending doom setup. Lets say you link it to Despair and curse your enemies once and wait... tick tick tick. Boom. To get to explosion faster. you can improve your "starting" point by taking curse effect. lets say you take occultist and all curse effect nodes. it will make it 50% starting curse effect and you gear 2x Fated End. then it gets to 90% at first second and to 210 at 4 second. If your Fated End roll is 209 or less. it will explode after 4 seconds. else, after 5 seconds. Base Damage of Impending doom is very high. and it stacks to great numbers with +to gem levels. A lvl 25 Despair with 210 effect. will give -100% Chaos resistance to the enemy it explodes on... this will also create an unique playstyle where you just apply a curse once and "kite" until it explodes. Further Curses can be applied via vixens for defense like temp chain, enfeeble, punishment. If combined with Poison chance, Impending doom will leave a huge poison on enemies it was not able to kill. and Profane bloom will take care of "spreading" generic chance to poison and chance to poison on hit also apply to profane bloom, making it capable of poisoning. But this is pretty niche and very different from zoom zoom meta.
Oh i wanna hop into the league again to play poison penance brand with this ring and zizs gloves, it should be such a cool concept btw isnt there a truly utility bane without less curse eff novadays? Its with very small aoe or smth
What happens if you have, like 100% increased effect of curses, not couting the ring? Would you apply the curse and it would expire instantly or the curse would not get applied?
I think the issue with curse items is not that they aren't good.. it's that people don't fully understand curses and curse effect. And that in game doesn't explain it at all. Also inverting is a thing now
Loved your analysis. I briefly used this item + curse effect tats in ToTA on my zhp CC slow/knockback build and basically reduced their action speed to 0. Super powerful item but has serious limitations in regular content
So basically just self-cast curse with that ring is the play? As soon as curse expires effect of curses expire as well so it's something like 100% increased effect of curse on average? Sounds particulary powerful for poison builds, but not so much for other builds. I wonder what are ways to automate curse application for maximum efficiency while not having to manage it yourself? No longer using Tota music :/
Was using it for a while in my cheap starter Bane build, but after GGG moved Viridi's Veil drop to Uber Maven this ring become worthless to me, since Fated End effect works on you too if it was reflected, any rare monster with ability to reflect spells will make your life misarable, and belive me being under 5 curses that become stronger every second not fun at all~
Hmm..Anathema + Fated End? I've never considered it before but this gives me ideas for theory crafting. I completely forgot Fated End existed. This video series is great :)
It would lower the ramp time(duration of curse) but the curse would have a high effect starting point. Unless you're doing something with impending doom I'd recommend not investing anything extra into curse effect as it means you need to reapply curses more often
@@dreamcore_gg I suppose I was just thinking about it in terms of maximizing how far certain curses could go. Like the elemental curses for example. I'd be curious to see how much -enemy res a single curse could cause
@@XodiaqKey There are probably ways to reach much more curse effect than Fated End's maxium(120%) if you stack from a bunch of sources. The tree alone can yield 60%, occu/scion occu grants another 10%. I haven't looked into how much is possible, but it's going to be a lot more than 120%
It's pretty broken on the new cold dot. I used it this league to cheat the damage of a mirror tier ring ( fated end actually does a bit more damage than that, plus % int gives more es than flat es on my trickster, plus eventual corruptions that pump damage even more). Also, I didnt watch the video, but Im also using in order to play bane ( which is QoL -> press 1 button to cast 2 curses without penalty, less mana cost ). Plus, which is kinda crazy, im also using it to make the curse duration around 5 seconds ( makes the blind from curse mastery 100% consistent pretty much ).
@@ingoverhulst You dont need a PoB to play cold dot, this is a build that works on full rare gear. You can cheat damage temporarily using replica dragonfang's flight with +3 frost blades and cane of kulemak. Or this ring. That's it...
The whole "doom" thing just shows conditional time sensitive buffs is something no player want's to engage with. This ring is just wrong in every aspect. Compared to Anathema, it's harder to acquire, harder to use and provides overall less power for the investment in most cases. Why would anyone engage with that? This is an item designed for another game. I bet this ring fits really neatly into PoE2.
This was a fun one to put together - hope you all enjoy!
Liked the vid, but the question remains: does it work with doedre`s skin?
nvm, forgot about Anathema
@@ill3815 Doedre's Skin no because the curses are supported by blasphemy, making them curse-auras
You’re the intellectual among the creators here 🤓 and that’s great 🎉

Another source of action speed mitigation is the Balance of Terror:
Action Speed cannot be Slowed below Base Value if you've cast Temporal Chains in the past 10 seconds
You would have to purposely miss monsters to keep your own curse scaling though.
This one has me quite inspired to get in the lab and make use of this unique. Thanks DC!

I been checking back here every day for a new video, these are incredible!

You could do that yep, ideally with 1% base effect missing so it instantly triggers
@@dreamcore_gg Also there's a curse mastery which restores 1% of hp and mana when cursing a non-cursed enemy, so you get rapid healing too!
@@dreamcore_ggwhat would the missing 1% base curse effect do exactly. I cant put it together in my head. And is there even a way to do that?
@@Sol0666 missing just 1% means that the curse would expire after a single tick because it would reach the limit of 200%
@@card425 I dont get the math behind that.

jeez, looks fun though
Fated end is also really fun to use for poison inpending Doom builds
I love these deep dives into older uniques!
theres also the balance of terror for temporal chains that gives you the action speed cannot be slowed below base value modifier

I didn't check the specifics with this scenario, but the temp chains increase sounds like a natural log which will tend towards e or ~2.7
there has got to be some way to combine its countdown increased curse effect with bane to yield a massive explosion. i don't play curses enough to know how, but the pairing seems so natural.
Completely opposite the previous few, I've never tried to use this and never thought about it. This will be an entertaining 17 minutes :)
You would want to use this ring for bossing. Most effective bossing builds have enough damage to finish bosses within the 5 second duration.
i love this series. please more
Please make a series of best unique in the past
how does it interact with Asenath's Gentle Touch's "Non-Aura Curses you inflict are not removed from dying enemies"? I assume it's similar to Hex Master?
That mod doesn't have any relevance
I haven't tested this but it's very likely that the curses on dying enemies will also expire at the base effect threshold
