I would like to see you build the floor up .150 stretch it back to the short side with a Long gradual taper to the short side .
Thank you for all this ..amazing work Mr Servedio

I would like to see you fill the short side, make a larger radius

      Maybe.

That and I always wondered what a vane that split the port in two would do. It would start just before the bend and curve through the bend in an effort to direct some of the air to the quiet side of the valve

The swirl ramp was actually keeping flow attached, now it's a turbulent mess in that region. That swirl ramp is a huge variable, it lets you change the dynamics of both the chamber and the port. This could be like years of research to get the best compromise for a carbed manifold. They ought to pay you to do it.

Ofcourse when the momentum is moving, it's often tough to stop the natural progress of things ( in this case the porting ). However, please take it easy Charles when you needed :)! We the audience will be waiting for you! I also hope you will get some compesation for these videos from The UA-cam. I'm watching 20sec commercial clips prior to access any video now. Honestly yours are all worthwhile for waiting!! Nonetheless, with the limited resources, I'd like the videos to be for free as we already anyways view those tube commercials.
About this cut, the port is relatively tall. I wonder what would filling and raising the floor do to the flow and swirl?

It would be interesting to see the effect of adding clay to the bowl and SSR… when you have time. I’m also interested to see the DV 318 project.
Thanks for exploring this rabbit hole. I learned much, and I’m sure others have too. You’ve definitely made me think twice about trashing/recycling the swirl port heads on my 90 GMC.

I'd still like to see the small valve port with the common wall straightened, and not so much of the swirl ramp and short side turn removed.

Thanks for trying the straight cut! Now i know! hahaha. Im shocked at the swirl going up, i thought it would drop- a lot.
Looking down the valve throat- what if you clayed it to where the whole port started the turn from roof toward valve? Maybe the noise is from turbulence at hitting that port wall hard instead of ramping toward the valve?
Opps, your talking about noise now- later.

I just had a ridiculous idea.. Porting 305 TBI heads with 58 cc chambers, adding 1.94/1.6 valves. Hmmm

Sounds like a great street combo

I have put even bigger valves in 305 heads and used them on bigger engines.

Please try some clay, maybe try raising the short side slightly and filling the dead areas to see if the airspeed will even out. Just some food for thought but it’s amazing what you’ve accomplished so far with this head, I never thought I’d see a swirl port crack 300+cfm

I would love to see the floor raised with a longer short turn radius if possible. I don't think the air wants to turn at the sharp turn prior to the bowl (tried it a couple of times and was always a negative outcome).

Oh wow it lost for sure dang oh well but still your porting skills got it over 310cfm you know a ported chevy LS head only goes to that much so that amazing stock I think at most there 250 Eric said

Hey Charlie, the Cast Heads guy is trying to retire, he tried to sell the whole business but looks like he is parting it out if you're interested in a head porting CNC or other cylinder head tooling. He just posted a couple videos on this platform, he used his machine to port cast iron. He said something about them being rebuilt recently.
That machine would be great for pumping out
    300 CFM 193 castings!😯😎👍

The TBI bolted onto a aftermarket manifold with a plate adapt. ,and the 1.94 intakes would be interesting,,not sure the # of cut,,,swirl ramp half gone

I'm curious if the steep transition from roof to the bowl is causing turbulence/noise. Your suggestion of clay to assist with that transition, making it more of a straight port is probably the answer. I don't have a flow bench and don't see financially acquiring one at this point so if you set up memberships for requested research I would be all for it.

It is only fair to make a little money. How about a comprimise. Members get immediate access to all content. Us broke suckers get to see it a day later. Special content for members occasionally, made free seven to thirty days later. You seem to like to share your knowledge with broke underdogs, and we appreciate it. With this approach you could get a little for your efforts, yet still be altruistic. You owe us nothing for free, but we appreciate all you share. Thank you!

I do think this whole swirl port series is fascinating. In your opinion, if you were to take your best cut/set of flow and swirl numbers- What kind of power do you think these heads could make on a 350 with a fitech tb, with a cam below .500 lift at 9.5:1 cr? Sorry for the newbie question, but I'm learning.

I can't remember (i think around Video 6-7 you talked about how a fuelie patterns) but what does the liquid look like on a fuelie heads , does it flow past both sides of the guide ? tks

Have you ever ported Buick Nailhead cylinder heads?

  • @itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852

I would like to see the floor clayed up and the ssr formed to compliment the raised floor.🤔 That would be very interesting.
I have to say thank you for doing this whole series, who would of ever thunk the worst factory production sbc head made would be able to be ported to out flow every other sbc factory production head ever made!😯
If you need a break from these to focus your energy elsewhere, feel free to do so. Sounds like you're getting a little burned out on them anyway? A few days away doing other projects might give you the inspiration to take these to an even higher level?😎👍

I think you should get paid for the expertise you share with us. I've been thinking about this, actually. you could take requests for a specific head/intake that guys want to learn how to port at a high level. Then have a paywall and a Bob Ross style how-
to. More like guided porting with a camera showing what you're doing. I would be all about that for sbc 083's, vortecs (I know, I know they crack, but a whole lotta guys run them), bbc 781s, peanut ports, 990's. I'm sure plenty of bros out there would be down to learn how to port LS stuff...er wait... you just put a big turbo on and run 8's in an otherwise nice car. I bet if the right crowd found your channel doing some gen iii hemi and coyote stuff would bring a lot of interest. Your free content could consist of your results to get the chum in the water, but keep the dirty details guarded in the free ones.
