noxabellus Aha no, my main job is running a one-man design studio. The UA-cam videos are something extra to help other designers on their creative journey. 😉
Really appreciate this. I found using the pen tool so intimidating and annoying. Thanks to you and the game, it feels like I know what I am doing now. Kudos and keep up the quality work.
In my Graphic design class, first time in the class, the entire class had to complete the entire Bézier game before you could work in adobe illustrator lol
Honestly that's the best thing they could have done to me, i've never had any problems with the pen tool since my professors introduced me to this game
@@ChrisRuch I'm very old but have come to be really become intrigued by graphic design. I practice the pen tool everyday after work. In your opinion can one learn graphic design without attending school? I read and watch a lot of videos to try to understand more.
For years I've been reading and watching tutorials to master the pen tool and I always found them difficult and confusing. THANK YOU so much for this video. I can't wait to try it out again and master it by playing that game.
Really cool! I just paid for a tutorial on Udemy that isn't nearly as good as his site. He's hit on a perfect way to teach the pen tool(The most difficult tool on Illustrator)
I did the paperclip in 8 using the heart-like method. I'm new to the pen tool and I'm quite impressed what you can do with it! (EDIT) Paperclip: 8/10 Wrench: 8/10 Cloud: 5/8 (Least nodes used) Head: 12/16 Duck: 9/12 Hat: 7/11 (Could've done it in 6 but made a mistake) S-shape: 8/12 [At this point I stopped] I'm well aware of the fact that they aren't very beautiful but it works...
Paperclip: 8 (did not use heart strategy?) Wrench: 8 Cloud: 5 (ez) Head: 10 (haha get pen'ed) [Got bored out] I too drew them so badly but I beleive if we were in a more appropriate environment (illustrator) could've done 'em better shaped!
I have a pen tool trick I discovered, when you break the handle with ALT, try to make it as small to possible in the angle you want to draw next to avoid having those annoying sharp curves, with that you can really use it on anything. I managed to do the cloud in 5 nodes
this video helped me a lotttt.. I've cried find hard to use this f**kin' pen tool ..tired of seeing other videos related to it then finally I found this ..thanks thanks a lat u r great ..keep doing..
I know you didn't create the website but thank you very much for the introduction. I've been looking up tutorials for days now and i almost settled that i won't learn the pen tool for a while. But here i am using less nodes than Dansky to finish the levels of this game. BTW did the office pin in 8 nodes.
UPDATE REPORT: Finished the game with 20 nodes to spare. The last level pretty much solidified my pen tool knowledge. Seriously man. Can't thank you enough.
Did this on desktop PC, Win10, Google Chrome. I'm not very good at it. However, I did have some moves to spare when I completed. I'll go through it again to see if I can improve my skills. Thank you!
Thank you Dansky for explaining the way some things works. I've made much tries to improve my pen tool using before, but without any result. Now i got all this thing with the angles!!!
this really help my A LOT for pen tool beginners like me! Ive never use the alt to drag i didnt even new this tip! Ive learned so many things thanks to Dansky, best teacher than actual collage teacher!
A tutorial on how to use a tutorial. Interesting. The first time around I got angry and swore that the thing was useless and buggy. Then I tried the same moves in Illustrator and realized that it was me. Finally I learned something new today. Thanks!
Idk if it's coincidence but being a newbie in PS i was advised (two days ago) to use this game in order to get skills in PS and do some great web design things. Thanks a lot for video! Love your channel!
Watching lots of different tutorials lately, I can honestly say you're one of the best when it comes to giving the right amount of information, really motivational and with calm, useful commentary that makes it easy listening to you and follow along :) Are you going to do more live streams in the future or have you maybe considered streaming on Twitch, that'd be pretty cool !
Where can I see these examples made with the minimal nodes stated? The VW bug can be done in 7 nodes? The plane can be done in 5? Where can I see this?
really love the fact you take time out your day to help small designers.
isnt that like....his job.....?
Not saying what he does isn't fantastic. Just that its weird to say "take time out of your day" like it was a personal favor
noxabellus but he doesn't have to. He could just upload videos of speedart or his designs.

Zain K That's great Zain! Glad to know it was helpful 😊
In my Graphic design class, first time in the class, the entire class had to complete the entire Bézier game before you could work in adobe illustrator lol
Should I be ashamed that I just did this very thing to my students this year?
@@ChrisRuch I'm not into graphic design, but I'm doing front end stuff and I can suppose that it wasn't a good tactic :D
Honestly that's the best thing they could have done to me, i've never had any problems with the pen tool since my professors introduced me to this game
Seems chill

this really helped on my first times doing the bezier game.😁
Ive completely missed that alt click trick (used on the heart) this whole time!
me too hahaha now it's looks like much easier than before to make a heart using pen tool instead of a circles and shapes!
I just realised I've been using the pen tool wrong this whole time haha!
Swerve Designs Aha yea! Found this new way of drawing a heart quite interesting. ✍️
my wacom pen working everywhere but not in the game any reason ?
Love you swerve

For years I've been reading and watching tutorials to master the pen tool and I always found them difficult and confusing. THANK YOU so much for this video. I can't wait to try it out again and master it by playing that game.
Awesome to hear Shakeeb! :)
To get 10 on the paper clip you make a line going straight from one side to another on the smallest bend and curve it. This video was really helpful!
Really cool! I just paid for a tutorial on Udemy that isn't nearly as good as his site. He's hit on a perfect way to teach the pen tool(The most difficult tool on Illustrator)
Wow awesome! Thanks so much Paul :)
Hope you donated something to him.

6:42 "I used 11 could be done in 10" - Actually it can be done in 5, look the grey text below Next Stage - button ;)

Hey you're welcome, let me know how far you get ;)
The paperclip one you have to do all the curves in one go and use alt to straighten out the path before doing the next straight portion.

Hold alt and click on the point to take away the next anchor point instead of redoing it

Just getting into using illustrator and this was an amazing tip. Great video.
