As a beginner player I wanted to say that I really apreciate the fact that you explain your every move and also show your move predictions or possibilities. That's great, please keep that in! :)
As a beginner myself, I want to say thanks for doing the commentary on what you were thinking and the logic behind every move you made. I appreciate this!
The most INSTRUCTIONAL chess video ever. It's great when you can hear the thoughts of a top player as they are playing. Then you can compare what you would do and why they did the move differently. Love this video. Wish there were a hundred more just like it.
Rather curious time management though (by both players) - with time running out it's often best to play a "good enough" move quickly and save a few seconds for a point when you really need to think and spot some tactics for or against you. A pity after some fine tactics earlier.
I would not be surprised if we find out that the website actually gives women some sort of advantage, in the name of "equality". So that is why a guy who's just a 2100 can beat a woman who's 2400.
I love the fact that you're willing to comment on your games. win or lose. It really help me to have this insight as to how you think about the positions.
honestly, this was my favourite video of yours (i've probably only watched a dozen though) mainly due to the commentary and the illustrations with the arrows. I think it makes it much clearer to understand as you play. Great stuff, despite the loss, keep up the great work
You lost the position because he allowed you to think it was a position of strength. It's a tactic of waiting for a person to fully commit to something. Once committed to that position, he was able to exploit where you were weak on the board.
There are a thousand stories in the naked city. None of those stories was relevant as I stared at the 8 by 8 grid and the pieces in front of me. My opponent could have been nameless and faceless for all the good those tidbits helped me. Somewhere, somehow I had to come up with a new plan to thwart his attack. Both clocks silently conspired against me. Skill or time will tell.
Great vid, im so glad that it randomly popped up on my feed. The description/commentary is amazing and the detail you provide is quality! By far the best reality TV ive ever seen. Great to see what it actually looks like to see 2 good chess players compete.
one of the best Blitz videos I ever saw! Actually THE best Blitz video I ever saw! The mixture of analysis and live experience combined with the silence and the music and also the whole dramaturgy of it. Please explore that format further, it’s really unique!
As a Non-Chess Player, I appreciate the Commentary as I find myself learning some of the strategies and can sometimes predict some of your/your opponents movements along the way. Breaking down everything as you go is really helpful, and throwing in little stories along the way (like accidentally spilling your beer at the Londen Chess club) is entertaining. Thank you!
i had to say i didnt watch TOO much of ur videos, but this was really nice, i like ur clear voice in the voice over commentary, was good to watch and helpful with explanations :)
I've been watching some of your video's recently and you often pop-up on my reels. This video made me subscribe. The voice over, the gameplay and the entire video was so intens but also provided so much knowledge. Watching you play and hearing your toughts/explanation really pushed me as a chess player!
The way you manage to explain what you're thinking about and then the resolve the thought at the move, plus the mentality commentary is really good. Even someone like me that doesn't actively play chess can follow it.
As an intermediate player, I find your voice-overs very interesting. Being in time pressure sometimes makes it you don't see good moves. That's normal.
Up until now, I’ve never watched one of your videos all the way through. I definitely encourage you to do more voiceovers. It was nice having a play-by-play insight into what you were thinking. This was quite entertaining from beginning to end.
Your voice over is perfect. .!! The addition of the music to the soundtrack is perfectly done, and your graphics are absolutely fantastic... (especially valuable for us beginners). Thanks so much for what you do..😊 and by all means please , please, please keep taking the extra time on the editing, - it makes it triply enjoyable for us ..!!
The voice over was great! I wasn't sure who would pull it out in the end. He is indeed a strong player, it could have gone either way. I think this was one of the best ways to show a game. More please.
Most of your videos that I've seen have had you talking with your opponent the whole time, which I have enjoyed, but I also really liked this one in which you talked about your strategy and thought process the whole time. It had me thinking along with you and was educational.
I love the way you did this video. The voice-over taught me a lot that I don't normally get from enthusiastic Anna. I would love if you did an extended version and re-evaluated/re-explained the loss. I totally followed ... up until he flipped the table on you. Then you glossed over his moves. Help, please.
I love this format! Perfect sound track. Commentary that helps us know what you were thinking. This is my favorite game video you have produced. Good game!
The way this was presented made the game super exciting, even for someone who barely knows how the pieces move. It felt so honest and intimate, like I was sitting inside your mind, spectating the game.
Great game, Anna. I love hearing what you’re thinking on every move. It’s both entertaining and educational. And your sportsmanship is always exemplary.
I love the music and the commentary. Although I’m not a great chess player your commentary makes me feel like I understand the position better because you break down what is happening in an easy to understand way. I found myself finding moves that I probably wouldn’t have normally because of the narrative quality of your commentary! This was an interesting game. I think, there was an inflection point where you were deciding to pressure his queen. I’m not sure if it would have worked, but I thought doubling your queen and king-side rook would’ve been better than pushing that pawn, because it seemed to open up the position in a way that benefitted him with his bishop on the long diagonal toward your king. I thought it would’ve also taken the pressure off of you because it’s a lower level chess move, but would’ve kept the position solid, taken off time pressure and allowed you to push your sizable advantage. I enjoy these chess videos!
We can rethink so many things... at 11:58 I might have considered Rook f1 > d1 and next possibly knight to a7. If he takes rook c1 then you rook to c1. Eventually your queen to b5.... ok, without a working board I've lost track.... Good game, Anna.
I was checking your videos from times to times, when UA-cam was suggesting me chess game randomly (I don't usually watch chess games), but this video with the commentary + colored arrows makes me subscribe to your channel.
The Background choice of music was excellent the commentary and thought process ideas were clear and made the game more appealing .Nerves do play a roll in these things you lost be we all learned a great thing . Keep going strong its all a learning process.
I love watching your chess videos and this was one of the best! Only suggestion that I have, as a total beginner, is a post game analysis where you point out at exactly what you should've done differently there at the end when your time was running out.
...I don't understand how when he got down to 4 seconds...as he made his following moves...he got more time added on to his clock...what is it that I don't know about that...???...
That was so good. You almost won. Thank you for explaining your every move, I learn many tactics from your videos and hope I can reach a higher rating.
I like the commentary of your thought process throughout the game. I like to know what you see as your opportunities and threats as you play. I mostly watch to learn.
I could never lead in such a high level game but it's great fun to follow the leaders. Thank you. Voice-over is a great addition. I'll be visiting this bar when next in Paris.
Anna look up the meaning of "choke"...it is during a critical play when a person kind of freezes up with anxiety and plays poorly or just misses things. It's one of the reasons you have time issues. Just info, not criticism. I think you're a great chess player who is learning and getting better all the time.
I don't know much about chess and barely play, But I was stressing out and waiting to see what was going to happen !! I really liked this style video )))))
Another enjoyable video, with an interesting game and compelling commentary. Unusual to see an opponent taking more time than you! That was a tough loss, but I'm glad you post your disappointments along with your triumphs, and also analyze them too: searing self-analysis is something most of us avoid but it leads to self-correction and improvement. "Shenanigans" is a good word, but the 2:52 usage of "whilst" made me grin- not a common word to this common American's ears; it's odd and cool that someone who is trilingual (at least) speaks my language with more capacity than I do, even after my decades of concentrated usage- though admittedly just in the USA lol.
OUtstanding! Love the voice-over, the suspense, the entire presentation. I paused at times just for fun to make my own (terrible) moves and then see what you players did.
I had the luxury of slowing the video and saw what he was doing. I've never played with a clock. Time apparently was Anna's downfall near the end. I thought she had him too. Thnx Anna, you've reinspiried me to play again. Haven't played competitively since high-school when our tennis coach made the whole team join the school chess club. His theory was, chess teaches how to think ahead several moves.
I really enjoyed the commentary. But the ending was all about the time left and pretty brutal. You made so many great decisions in the early and mid-games sections!
Ana, that E6 move was incredible!!!!! After a long way thinking... it deserved it! You should have won. A pitty whatsoever! Congrats for the video and thanks!
You can tell a lot about a person on how they handle themselves when they lose such an intense and close game. You are a good person, and an excellent chess player! Bravo!
Great presentation and voiceover commentary, really captures the atmosphere . I couldn't help getting involved in it when the play got sharp, coming to e6! It was a great move and should have won the game. Sorry you didn't have enough on the clock to get over the line. However, a top quality game desoite the swindle. Must say, I'm greatly enjoying your videos.
As a beginner player I wanted to say that I really apreciate the fact that you explain your every move and also show your move predictions or possibilities. That's great, please keep that in! :)
I agree with this. I got so much knowledge from these!
As a beginner myself, I want to say thanks for doing the commentary on what you were thinking and the logic behind every move you made. I appreciate this!
Love the colored arrows combined with your thoughts - yes definitely do more of these kinds of reviews
liking how you voiced and illustrated the moves and possible moves
Agreed!!!
The most INSTRUCTIONAL chess video ever. It's great when you can hear the thoughts of a top player as they are playing. Then you can compare what you would do and why they did the move differently. Love this video. Wish there were a hundred more just like it.
There are videos of Magnus Carlsen talking through games as he plays them.
@@axelbruv Thanks for the heads up. I'll check them out.
@@STBRetired1 No worries, mate. I believe the channel is called Absolute Chess.
the commentary was so good but the game was SO INTENSE especially at the end, my poor heart

Knight c6 was a bad play. I paused video so idk what happened next as of yet.
@@tentoetimo9578 Nc6 was of course *not* a bad move.
I know! I had to look away!

This was Anna's funniest voice overs. Love the shenanigans 😂
The tense music makes it all the funnier when she just says, "I'm drinking Coca Cola"
Yes! I really like the commentating and thought process breakdown
...and "shaked" maybe 3 X. Beats the "Hokie Pokie"(ha-ha).
Nothing else
so disappointed.. OG (original Grandmaster) Anna would drink whiskey 😂
One of AC/DC's best songs. "You Shaked Me All Night Long"
You lost the position because he allowed you to think it was a position of strength. It's a tactic of waiting for a person to fully commit to something. Once committed to that position, he was able to exploit where you were weak on the board.
This feels like an old detective movie voiceover. Love the vibes.
Chess noir
