Wonderful sermon. Thank you also as Truth for Life, the one year reading plan and now being my 5th time to be reading through. I get excited hearing the stories and know what happens, yet having more revealed of Jesus and how He speaks to me each time. I thank you☺️
I grew up in a church that was "Christian", but Jesus was someone distant. That is a senseless, cruel type of belief. Fortunately, God saved me, but it was a very long and hard road.
This question is certainly appropriate for the Calvinist, as Alister Begg is or believes and teaches the doctrines of Calvinism. Calvinism's teachings are based on 2 of their points/doctrines: "their" definition of sovereign, and "their" idea of a Meticulous determinism. These two teach that: God has pre-determined every single thought, word, and action that every single person will think, say, and do. The question is actually: Does Jesus Christ have any role at all in anything except going through the motions of Savior according to Calvinism's 9 points -not just 5 called Tulip? They teach none has any choice/say concerning obedience to any Gospel: the Gospel of the kingdom given to Israel alone in the Gospels, or the Gospel that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and was raised on the third day and was seen by hundreds of witnesses (according to the scriptures). According to Calvinism's teachings no Jew or non Jew could choose to either obey or disobey the Laws of Moses for their righteousness, or no unsaved person under the New Covenant can choose to obey or disobey the Gospel given by Paul and Peter, etc.
KJB vs ESV KJB, Daniel 9:25-26. "Know therefore that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks and threescore and two weeks, the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after three score and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:......" ESV, Messiah is translated, the anointed one the prince. KJB, Matthew 18:11. "For the Son of man came to save that which was lost." ESV, "Son of man not mentioned, blank." Seriously, would God be pleased with this translation? KJB, Luke 9:56. "For the Son of msn is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village." ESV, "And they went go another village." They threw Jesus out again!!! KJV John 7:8. Jesus told His mocking brothers that He was not yet [not now] going to the feast. John 7:8 He waits and then goes. ESV, in this and other modern translations Jesus said, I am not going to the festival. Not me. He waits and then goes. Liar. BLASPHEMY!!!
So blessed to have found Alastair’s sermons. They bring me back to my salvation story and how much the Lord Jesus loved me✝️

Begg once again strikes at my heart, soul, and mind. The Holy Spirit uses this man in such an extraordinary way. He is in this world but not of it!

What is it about the Scot’s that make the gospel not just attractive but simple to understand
Scripture is not Matthew 16:13-20 in title but instead Mark 2:1-12.
