Finally Happened! Elon Musk Unveiled 2025 Sodium Ion Battery Is Officially Produced in Massive! Recently, the U.S. startup Natron Energy announced the production of the first commercial-scale sodium-ion batteries in the United States by launching its plant in Holland, Michigan. Ironically, the new plant is a repurposed former lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility.
Finally Happened! Elon Musk Unveiled 2025 Sodium Ion Battery Is Officially Produced in Massive! Natron hopes this upgrade will produce new sodium-ion batteries with an annual capacity of 600 megawatts. Meanwhile, battery behemoth Tesla is also jumping into the fray with its own sodium-ion battery tech, predicting an explosion in demand for energy storage and 24/7 power at data centers across the U.S., not unlike the growth seen in AI.
Finally Happened! Elon Musk Unveiled 2025 Sodium Ion Battery Is Officially Produced in Massive! So how is Elon Musk producing new sodium-ion batteries to give Tesla's electric vehicles an edge?

Let's please stop calling sodium ion batteries salt batteries. There is no salt in it! Sodium is a metal, not a salt.

I always found sodium to be very explosive specially when dropped into water.

    Chemistry 101 ! ! !
Lithium-ion batteries. Lithium (Li) is a chemical Element at the head of Column 1 in the Chemical Periodic Table, also in Column 1 are the following Elements in order, Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Rubidium (Rb), Caesium (Cs) and Francium (Fr). All of these elements are vicious in their activity with other chemicals, particularly water, where they burn at a very high temperature. The box these elements are kept in must be totally air tight to prevent even the slightest moisture from getting into the box, if moisture does get into the container it will explode and create one huge fire which it is impossible to put out. Now research is going on into Sodium-ion batteries which are much cheaper to manufacture than Lithium-ion batteries since Sodium is fairly cheap to manufacture from common salt. If ever they do make Sodium-ion batteries, well don’t even think about it, they will be ten times worse than Li-ion batteries.

Why not to use a combination of the two technologies to build a hybrid battery?
Sodium Ion for fast charging for short distances and Li for long distances in slow charging.

What about John B Goodenough battery, he was creating a glass battery, what's happening with that, since his death nothing has been released about it.

You're referring to solid state tech being pioneered by only a handful of companies. Taiwan appears to be leading in that area.

Thanks for your comment! John B. Goodenough was indeed a pioneering figure in battery technology, and his work on the glass battery was groundbreaking. Since his passing, there hasn't been a lot of public information about the progress of his glass battery, but these kinds of innovations often take time to develop and bring to market.
The scientific community is likely still working on advancing his concepts, and we might see significant breakthroughs inspired by his work in the future. In the meantime, it's exciting to see how new technologies, like Tesla's sodium-ion battery, are pushing the envelope. Thanks for watching and engaging with us!

It is time to review the carbon footprint of Lithium ion battery manufacture which uses a huge amount of energy to refine, which makes the Lithium ion battery as bad or worse than gasoline cars given that they produce a huge amount of carbon footprint even before they are driven, and are then charged by electricity from power stations which are mostly fossil fueled.

    • @markandrew6572
      @markandrew6572 День тому

@@jonswap9097 A Lithium ion battery will last the lifetime of a vehicle. A petrol or diesel car will consume 4000 - 5000 gallons during it’s lifetime over which 24 metric tonnes of greenhouse gasses will be emitted. It’s even worse if you count the engine oil burnt or discarded during the car’s lifetime and the CO2 released during the vehicles manufacture. The carbon footprint of a lithium ion battery and EV is therefore considerably lower than the carbon footprint of a petrol or diesel vehicle over it’s lifetime. Electric vehicles also do not pump fumes into busy traffic areas in towns, making urban areas less polluted with dangerous particulates.
Yes it is important how the electricity that EVs use, is produced. Renewable or green energy is growing rapidly. In the U.K. over 40% of energy is produced by renewable sources, and it continues to grow. The oil and gas industry continues to oppose green energy in many ways. They have funded politicians to push back on environmental legislation. They have also been aggressive in disseminating false information about the efficiencies of electrified transportation. Surely it is better to have electrified our transport systems even if the power generation companies are behind the curve. At least we will have the vehicles we need by the time they catch up with their environmental responsibilities.

Don’t tell me, this new Tesla battery technology will come online June 14 of this year! Right? Just one day after the June 13 Tesla stock holder vote on Elon‘s pay package. Yet another big advance that Elon has promised! I believe everything Elon says, don’t you? I know this may take a while to get to you and your reply. May take a while to get back to me since you’re living on Mars right now in the colony that Elon promised to establish years ago.

Hey there! Thanks for your comment! The timing is definitely intriguing, isn't it? As of now, we don't have an exact date for when the new Tesla battery technology will come online, but June 14 would be an interesting coincidence! Elon Musk certainly knows how to keep things exciting.
As for believing everything Elon says, he's definitely a visionary with big ideas, and while some take longer to materialize, it's fascinating to see the progress. And hey, about living on Mars-who knows, maybe one day we'll be making videos from there too! 🚀 Thanks for watching and for your support!

Elon is making so many promises, that if he could convert each one of them into just a nickel, he’d have his $56 billion. Saying that Elon is going to bring a new battery technology to market in less than multiple years is unbelievably ludicrous. Take a look around about how many different companies have announced new bat technologies over the last 10 years or so and then look at how many of those actually have come to market. Bringing a new battery technology to Market takes a long time and a lot of research and in a lot of cases it turns out that it just isn’t good to work. The fact that Elon is making this promise just prior to the June 13 vote in my opinion is so close to fraud. There’s no difference.
