Gold Marks on Jewelry What Do They Mean?
I’ve been asked a few times about numerical marks on jewelry and wanted to throw together a video that went over the most common jewelry numerical marks and what they mean. I’ve also been coming across jewelry that just has the numeric marks.

Great video✨ Just to add to the list: 500 mark equal to 12K Solid gold . I do not own jewelry that read 12K mark (50% gold) , but I do have antique jewelry with 500 mark stamp on them .
Ilona Ilosika I did miss the 12k! I’m pinning your comment so people read it. Thanks.
Princess Casserole 💜Karla , I also have ring with 917 hallmark = 22K .
Ilona Ilosika lol I didn’t include higher bc I’ve never seen one but that’s awesome. Bucket list goals.
Good info, thanks for sharing ladies.
@@PrincessCasserole I bought a necklace that looks like gold ..it has an unusual clasp that's marked LE and a dbl triangle turned sideway...
I was told it means limited edition..do I know ? 😊
Been buying jewlery for years ,this information was new to me. Thank you so much. I'm in mt late sixties, but never too old to learn something new.
Need to remember that 14KP mark does not mean plated but means PLUMB ...10KP 14KP and 18KP... Plumb means that karat amount exactly. A lot of people will sell cheap thinking it means plated.
wray1968 that’s good info too! I don’t see it that often but have once in awhile.
Awesome video !!!!! Thanks so much for sharing....Happy New Year.....
autumn grace thanks!
Hi Carla, Lyn from Australia here. Our gold that's processed here, is usually 9ct gold or 375. Because we mine our own gold here, most of it by the time it hits the jewellery industry is 9ct, or 18ct which iis 750. We dont have much 10ct or 14ct here either. So just some info from the Australian side of the gold industry. By the way, I'm watching this in October 2020. Take care. Xx
Good job! Your DIANA brooch was made in Italy. BREV stands for Brevetto, which is the Italian term for Licensed/Patented.
efesgirl999 awesome! Learned even more.
Awesome video with invaluable info. Thanks so much for sharing this Carla.
Babsy1316 thanks Barbara
Platinum is marked with either 950/999 and/or plat. Be observant & don't misread PLAT thinking it is for plated, could be an oversight.
Loved this video thank you more on silver please thanks again
Sandra Laws thank you, I’ll start looking for my silver examples.
I believe you are the first person that has gone over this in a video or at least I know it's the first one I've seen. I always have to look it up because I can't keep it straight. But I do know it's a gold mark when I see it. Thanks for covering the little minute places the mark could be. Very interesting video! TFS 😊
Belinda glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for sharing Carla.
Immortal Hourglass you’re welcome Dia thanks for watching!
9k gold is probably the most popular brought Gold. I guess as it's cheaper. But definitely 9k is in full swing in Australia. Not my personal interest I'm a 18K or above type of bloke. Cheers all the best.
Hi I have some jewelry that I bought in thrift store a few years ago. Just put it aside till recently when I decided to clean especially being in lockdown and the jewelry was really dirty and unpin cleaning I was surprised
Rosed that I had some interesting
. One ring has two stamped. 18 K and 925 ? And bracelet I had no idea read 825 China. Looked like it’s gold !?
I want to sell to jewelry store haven’t been out in months wondering how much I’d get ??
Princess casserole thanks very informative vedio
Pls add to your list 916 /22k I owned it.
Lani Cosme yes thanks! I have been not lucky enough to own that yet :)
Hi, does anyone know what the letters mean? 750 CN ORO means on jewellery? I know 750 means 18ct, but no clue to what the letters mean.
I’m a jewellery valuer in the UK and modern 375/ 9ct gold pieces are still made and marked in the UK.
THANK YOU!
I have never seen the 333 mark didn't even know it existed! I love learning.
835 on pink/sand pearls ? It looks silver with a diamond in it .
Thanks so much for doing this! I wasn't familiar with those numbers and would have probably passed on those pieces. Great information! 😉

What 8kg mean on a silver looking chain ?
Jewelry handcrafted by Sherry LeMeilleur that’s a new one. Only thing I can think of is 8 kilograms

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU & YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY! 🥳❤️🙏🎈🎊🥳❤️
Jill _Fritchley Klusoczky thanks Jill!
Interesting info. I never knew any of this. I recently got a ring in a Thredup rescue box that I would have sworn was 925 silver but it's marked 14k. It's definitely silver in color, not gold. So would it likely be a silver tone painted over the 14 k gold?
Julie Balvin it could be white gold. They wouldn’t mark it 14K unless the base was gold, unless the mark is just stamped and it’s not either gold or silver. I’d start by seeing if it’s magnetic. Then there are acid tests you can do or bring it to a jeweler.
Bracelet is lovely, yet I'm a sucker for pearls and that strand is gorgeous. Hmmmm, both are my favorite piece. LOL
Trace-Elementz13 haha yeah I can’t pass up a nice strand of pearls!
Thanks for this straightforward video, a lot of the stuff on the Internet about gold is confusing💩blue topaz braclet is beautiful💖💗💓
lady owl /marie I agree it can be! Thanks for the compliment
