Again many thanks enjoy the beautiful world and continue your pleasant information on BEAUTIFUL SILVER. PATRICK Australia.
@@PrincessCasserole thank you. It's just something about Silver it has a very long history. But I've been collecting and up sizing as I live in Australia we have some very cool coins and. Silver BULLION. I have a feeling tho with unfortunately current world affairs that silver is going to become highly prized commodity. But anyways thankyou for your response. Take care again thankyou for your channel.
thank you for the info...showing nice pieces
The jewelry factory that I work at uses sister hooks on the chains. They are the more secure of the clasps. I have been wondering what 900 and 800 meant, I see a lot of souvenir spoons. I can't tell you how many people think that Alpaca is real silver. This is a very good video, a LOT of good information.
Lol Al pack is definitely not real silver but yeah a lot of people think it is. You work at a jewelry factory? How cool.
So funny, I wrote most of this out on Cindy's video earlier today! But I didn't know about SE 925. Thanks!
icatz lol yeah I have no idea why I thought coin silver was 800 either. Great minds think alike.
@@PrincessCasserole I guess you watched it. When she talked about coin silver I got on my high horse. I need a ladder now. And stirrups. Heh.
Well said!! Good demonstration! 😊❤
Hallmarks are a series of continental marks found on silver and gold. The marks are added to an item at an Assay Office, which means the item has been registered as being genuine. It does not mean the item was necessarily made in the city where it was assayed, as silver and goldsmiths were free to take it to any Assay Office in their country. Purity marks of any kind are NOT hallmarks, as Carla stated, so when you hear someone else say "hallmarks" in reference to purity/maker marks on jewelry, then they are 100% incorrect and it would behoeve them to learn proper jewelry terms. They make this same mistake when listing their jewelry. I have even heard people refer to marks on costume jewelry as hallmarks. Iy yiy yiy...
efesgirl999 nice use of behove! Lol. That’s interesting about the city part. I didn’t include those because I have yet to do the research but good point! Costume jewelry definitely does not have hallmarks.
Great info!! Thanks
Thank you. Please do one one hallmarks and thank you again. 💍💍🪙🥈
What does it mean when there’s a GM in front of the 925?
Do you know what PAT 875 marking is. I have a beautiful necklace my mother left me. She bought it in Austria in the 1940's.

Hi, do you ever come across items that are silver but have no markings?
Thanks for sharing this bc it was very informative. I have a lot of antique jewelry from UK and I know lower grade gold (9k and 12k) were common there and 800 silver common on the continent. Can you do a video on how to test for unmarked, lower-grade silver (below .925, such as 800, 900, etc) and unmarked lower grade gold (e.g. 9K and 12k)? Thanks!
95 c spoon hallmark is really platinum

I just saw on Etsy they sell stamps to mark silver so now how do we know what is real and what is not
I got a supposed sterling silver chain off Etsy, supposedly made in Italy. I use the word "supposed" because I'm not sure if it's true sterling. I have the inscriptions "925 Italy" and "F.N.A." It passed the magnet test, but when I rub it on a scot towell, it doesn't leave a mark at all like sterling is supposed to. I was wondeeing if you know what the F.N.A. means.
mbroderick1984 FNA is most likely the manufacturer. Hopefully it is real silver. I find those marked 925 Italy many times are.

How do you clean sterling silver when it turns black.
