Thank you David for this great video .
Hello David, do we really have to download the IOS images from VIRL? can we use the "real-life" IOS images from the devices that we currently have in production environment? If not, why? Thanks in advance.
Do not quote me on this but I believe you can use the routers images you have deployed. But not everyone has those devices.
You can use some older IOS images. But there are issues. Watch this video for more detail: ua-cam.com/video/SWCZWqCNB5k/v-deo.html
@@davidbombal Wow. this video answered so many questions of mine that Ive been lookikng for since two days ago. Thank you David.
First of all, great video David!
I do have a question though. I've purchased VIRL PE and tried to use the images in GNS3. But both IOSv and IOSvL2 nodes boot with high CPU issues. Any idea on how to fix this?
You need to wait until things settle down. This is however an issue not just with GNS3, but also on other platforms like VIRL and EVE-NG
@@davidbombal Thanks for reaching out so quick! Is this also the case with VIRL 2? And increasing the cpu's and/or ram on the nodes themselves doesn't help?
i had a problem in my configuration in my Lab can you please help to resolve the issues ?
Thanks for the tutorial, I had some difficulties and this video helped me out a lot. Question. Why are you running a Mac with Windows 10 in a virtual machine, and GNS3 in the Windows environment. Why not run GNS3 on your Mac?
I am controlling the Windows laptop running Windows 10 from my Mac using VNC. I am not running Windows in a VM in this example - it is installed natively on that laptop in the background on my desk. I will demonstrate GNS3 on a Mac in a separate video.
Hi can you please tell me how to active virtualized intel vt-x/EPT on lenovo thinkbook 20VD I have activated but still ask me to activated it when I run vmware workstion thanks in advance
Hello. I don't know if Cisco creates problems if someone downloads the images, by paying for them, without the program concerning CCNA or other certifications. I mean cancel or do not allow to participate in future exams. Can anybody help?
I've partially completed the GNS3 set up. Struggling to finish it. Need assistance. Anyone?
How can I add switch in my gns3 . please provide link for switch iso image file.
Any alternative of using IOS images on GNS3? rather than spending $199
Yes. If you have a switch or router image / .bin file then be sure to use the Dynamips setting in GNS3 (Edit > Preferences > look for Dynamips on left hand side. You can upload a new image from there. Good luck.
Thanks for the video, David!
hello can you please tell me where to get cisco images for multilayer sw WLC AP etc ? because the link that you gave us cant be reached.. GREETINGS FROM GREECE keep up the good work
I unfortunately cannot get IOS images. Thank you for the tutorial so far however
Thanks David, it is pretty good intro. A question: Is there any limitation in comparison of physical switch/router to VIRIL IOS images ? (such as some commands wont work)
Hi , when i add ubuntu guest docker i can't use them what is the problem?
hello Mr. David,
Which is the best cisco ios to use for practice when you're planning to get a CCNP?
I suggest you get Cisco VIRL image IOSvL2 for switching and IOSv for routing. I show you in this video how to download those images.
These gns3 videos saved my life!
Very glad to hear that!
Hi David,
What's the problem of using HAXM and vios images inside Windows? Wasn't HAXM accelerate anything?
Thanks mate
Jeremy told me that there seem to be issues with HAXM, QEMU and VIRL images. He says that simple Linux appliances seem to work fine, but VIRL Images like IOSv, IOSvL2 etc don't work and crash. If you get it working, please let me know!
Hi David,
Everything works fine but the second I press start, I get these errors:
Execution log:
qemu-system-x86_64: warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:ECX.vmx [bit 5]
qemu-system-x86_64: error: failed to set MSR 0x10a to 0x0

I'm using vios_l2-adventerprisek9-m.vmdk.SSA.152-4.0.55.E and Cisco IOSvL2 appliance. VM is running in Workstation Pro 15.5 and my CPU is Ryzen 5 1600.
I'm following your CCNA Udemy course online Section 27: GNS3 Campus 1 Overview.
Thank you for everything !!
Upgrading the VM to kernel v5.2.2 solved my problem :D
Thanks for sharing the solution Carl!
@@carlbaillargeon4037 Works for me. Thanks
Hello, David! I need to create port monitoring/mirroring in my topology. ls it possible with Cisco VIRL IOS Images to do this? What version should I download to create the GNS3 topology?
Yes. The latest releases of VIRL support port mirroring. Download the latest version as demonstrated in the video and you should be good.
Thank you, David! It`s important information for me. I`ll try
Thank You So Much.... Great videos very informative.
Thank you George!
@David Bombal, is this VIRL enough to get my CCNP ENCOR?
