i think the inverted w is a disconnect. the body doesnt naturally function that way. it puts the body in a very dangerous position at high speed and intensity.
well protecting the body is obviously the most important reason to pronate. it protects the bones in the elbow as well as the soft tissue in the back of the shoulder as it activates the bigger musculature in the back around the scapula designed to slow the arm down. added rpm is just a nice benefit that most ppl dont tap into. the reason i have different grips on my slider is to control the circle of friction as you call it. 1 for tighter spin and movement. 1 for less movement and more strikes
Trevor has always been true to himself and the game. I am proud to have trained with you and constantly look to guess what pitch and location you throw next. Keep blowin it up Trev! Take care buddy!
throw into an indoor net. it helps with awareness of your body as well. start off at 20 percent. can you even do that? for someone who throws 90 thats only 18 mph. tough to do! but start there. throw 5 at 20% into the net. then go to 25%, then 30, then 35. etc. increasing the angle at which you hit the net every time. you only need a net about 10 feet high and a space about 10-20 feet long to do it. its tough. not ideal. but its better than nothing
you can do weighted balls and work on mechanics. really, mechanical efficiency is the most important component to health and velocity. depending on how big your space is you can also do some simulated long toss. i throw inside the majority of the off season.
Although I am a Yankees fan, congratulations on your win this evening against us - my loyalties and interest are not restricted to a team but also spread over various players of different teams. As impressively, thanks for being as accessible and open as you are with your fans - I think you won a new one in me tonight. Continued success in this season.
thats a really tough one to answer online. my best suggestion is to watch guys like cliff lee and aroldis chapman. study everything you can about their lower half. how much to they "sit". how much do they engage their pelvis. how do they stay closed on the front and back legs etc. then try to apply the same concepts in your own way
they certainly do. and movement is more so related to spin on the ball. if you throw two curve balls at 75 mph and one spins with more rpm than the other, it will break more. sometimes throwing a pitch harder increases spin and therefore increases movement. but not always
welcome to cleveland Mr. Bauer. just wanna let you know i'm pumped to see you pitching here in cleveland. hopefully you'll get your regular spot on the rotation real soon. you've got some really great stuff, and i can't wait to see you tear it up on the mound at progressive field! it's good to see you making vids like this. shows that you truly care about the craft of pitching and sharing it and teaching it to others.
Go Indians! So happy to have u in cleveland trevor! U dont know how happy i was when we got u! Good luck in spring training, and i hope u earn a spot in the starting rotation!
yeah. same exact way except instead of my middle finger being on the ball my ring finger is on the ball and my middle finger is up in the air. like flipping someone off haha
Appreciate the effort and passion you put into your game. I watch the tribe nearly every game or listen during work. I see you bro! You should get into youtube if you ever have time you could add to your income! But what do i know. Good luck this season. Keep being you. Roll tribe
Mr.Bauer, I am an aspiring baseball player and I am 14 years old. Last September I went to Cary for USA Baseball and I hurt my arm while pitching there. It seems like I always hurt my arm and I am just stumped on what to do and how to maintain my development because I have hit 87 MPH on the bump and if I keep increasing and staying above the curve I am hoping I can be as good as you. Please let me know at your earliest convenience. Thanks Connor Lunn
Hey Trevor, I was just wondering what your opinion is on how to best prepare for the upcoming season. How many bullpens do you throw a week in season and in the off-season. Also do you play catch everyday and how do you mix workouts into this schedule. Thanks and good luck with the Indians
Trevor, When you throw your fastball you pronate your arm. When you throw the curve and slider are you supinating your arm? Would the reverse slider put less stress on your arm as you are pronating this like the fastball.?
actually strom didnt teach me the pronated curve. i figured it out on my own. i pronate all pitches. it adds extra rpm to the ball. same as when a boxer would pronate a punch for extra power. it just makes sense to do it in pitching as well.
Thanks so much for the video. I'm not a pitcher, so when I study PITCHf/x charts, I'm often wondering how in the hell guys make adjustments to their pitches and what they do on their release to their results. This gives an idea of what those subtle adjustments are. Slightly off-topic, I'm curious whether you subscribe to the Chris O'Leary "Inverted W" theory of pitching mechanics.
Hey Trevor, just wondering what kind of exercises you do to strengthen and maintain a healthy rotator cuff. Light dumbbells, bands, planks, pushups..etc?
What's up Trevor! I was just wondering how you utilize all these different types of pitches in a game. How many types of signals does the catcher have to know to get all your pitches down? Do you use all these pitches in games? How do YOU even remember you have all these pitches at your disposal?
Trevor, what would you say is/was the biggest contributor to gain in your velocity? I'm looking to gain a couple mphs on my fastball. Any tips or recommendations are much appriciated. Best of luck this season!
Hey Trevor, I have gone to 4 or 5 Ron Wonforth camps and have tried to learn the "modernized" mechanics of Tim Lincecum and yourself. I'm around 5'11 so I'm one of those kids that has to be very explosive in order to be at or above 90 mph. Anyway, my question for you is I sometimes feel like I'm pronating too early. My ball really likes to sail from left to right when I play long toss, and also when I pitch. Does this happen to you? Is this a bad thing, and am I losing mph? - Brady Schroeder
Mr. Bauer, I feel like I'm having trouble really using my legs when I throw. Any drills I can do to really help incorporate them? Also what should I be looking for in terms of feel for using my legs? Like tension or pressure? Thanks
Mr. Bauer, I am 15 and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to add the Vulcan to my repertoire. Also, are there any special factors you need to add when throwing the Vulcan?
This doesn’t go with your video Trevor but I’ve watched you for a while and what did you do and what did you find to help you the most to get into the hinge position and not leak your hips?
mr. bauer, i wanted to know how you can tell your being as explosive through your delivery as possible, my stride length is good and i lead with my hips down the mound well but my arm is getting into throwing position to early so i think this might be slowing down my velocity which is 64. I think growing some will help because im only 5' 103 lbs. im going to put a video of my delivery on my channel so if you find time could you check it out? thank you for your time.

I just saw you throw over the 410 foot center field wall from the mound. What a phenomenal arm you have.

Why is this in my recommended 7 years later 😂😂
You need to fix your pitching grips
Why am I seeing it right now?

i play catch 6 days a week and do workouts 4 days a week in the off season. usually throw about 4 bullpens to a catcher before spring training.
Hey trev congrats on your great carrer!
Trev, you've been slinging them bud. Can't wait until I can see you play live.
I hope all this hard work paid off.
John Shaw lol
congrats on the cy young. all that paid off...
Anyone here after he won CY Young Award? Congrats!

Here's to a breakout season with the Tribe, pitches & catchers report
Thank you
Love how he calls a sinker a reverse slider but still love this drive he had for the game even at a younger level
i used to throw it. i find my current change ups work a lot better for me and my arsenal

Who’s hear after The Alligations
Ofc every one here is here after the allegations not like we can time travel before the allegations 💀
i try to throw about half and half in the bullpen. and correct. only a four seam fastball
Would you ever post a video of your band routine like you did for the shoulder tube explaining all the excersises and what they do?
Trevor is the best
Is excellent
that most likely means youre not getting late launch. if thats the case then yes you are losing velocity
