Decided to give the Truck Diaries a re-watch. I wish Squirrel would either re-start this series or do a whole new one. The game has changed so much since he recorded these. (I'm so used to a talking GPS now it seems really weird without one.) I think almost everything Promods added in this video is now officially part of the game and Promods has added even more. The last trucking diaries video was in 2019 (roughly 3 years ago as I write this), so I feel like the time might be right for a revival.
DanLo4der Yeah. Whenever I go for a drive, nobody indicates when they're going to exit, or which way they're going to turn. I've seen people do a U turn going all the way around, with no indicator at all.
I'm not sure about law the laws in the UK, but in Germany you only indicate when leaving the roundabout. You do not indicate while entering or driving round it like he does.
That's right. You never pay for fuel on 'Quick Jobs'. You never pay for Tolls. You never pay for Ferry trips BUT you do get paid less for Quick Jobs than the owner driver jobs. Boy when Squirrel says it's been a long time since he had to start a profile in this game, he wasn't kidding. I've had to start over many times due to computer failures so I'm intimately acquainted with starting new profiles. Maybe I should take my own advice and sequester a copy of my ETS2 documents folder on a USB drive. Starting from scratch is a good way to keep in touch with all facets of this game and ATS.
I love this game. I used to play this game for hours wheni was young. I dont have time now to play this game. But after my exam in may, i will definately download this game and play. But this time in much better laptop
Danish is a very weird language, so here's a tip about city names: "double-a" like in AArhus and AAlborg, is actually supposed to sound different than you'd think. It's a bit tough to describe the sound, but it's a bit like the first o-sound in the word Oreo.
Had the game for over a year, probably near to 2 years and just now starting to get into it. Dusted off my Thrustmaster F430 wheel as well. These videos are going to be great for learning and glad to see even an experienced player, can still end up with collisions and misreading what the correct lanes to use etc are. It gives encouragement to the newbie, that not everything they are doing is causing problems.
Btw. 1. The glass walls on bridges are for avoiding wind AND people not trying to kill themselves. Even on the motorway. 2. There actually ARE IKEA stores in Odense, Aarhus and Aalborg. Also in Gentofte and Taastrup. Glad I could help :D
Finally, EU version of the Trucking Dairies! Ive been waiting a long time for this, and I hope its a good journey throughout Europe! Happy trucking!! :D
When I first started playing ETS2 I was 9 or something idk so when I was driving with my €1 steering wheel, I drove really badly. I hit cars, hit signs fences and was driving way to fast. It took me an irl year to get my first truck which was a white MAN with a sleeper cabin and the standard chassis. After some driving I started upgrading my truck and the money that I was making went into the truck, repair costs and fines. After a while I was €-40.000 in debt and I kept receiving e-mails from the bank until the one came that if I did not pay back the money soon they would take my truck. They did. I lost my truck and after that I became more serious, and bought a red DAF XF 105 with a 6x2 chassis and sleeper cabin. I kept that truck for a long time without buying upgrades. Then I got cheat engine and there is where i started buying stuff, game got boring because I had everything already and I deleted my account, created a new one. Few years later I'm 14 I am a Volvo fan and I drive one with my Logitech g920 and the shifter, and I ordered a shifter replacement from America that will arrive in a week or so. I already know how to shift with a 12 speed Volvo gearbox only the range and splitter are on my wheel.
This brings memories of 2012 and 2013 back: The magic of starting an ETS2 career anew. Already looking forward to this, thank you. Will you do a poll on your "first" truck on the forums please? Some truck suggestions of mine: - DAF 95 XF - Iveco 190-38 Special (my current truck) - MAN 2000 - Mercedes Actros MP1 (my personal favourite) - Renault Magnum Integral - Scania 4 series - Volvo FH series I These "used" trucks were produced between 1983 and 2005; and are done in good quality. If you opt for default trucks, the Renault Premium may be the one to start with. Not because I want to fool you, but because it's the only not top-of-the-line truck in ETS2. Hey squirrel I'm a fan of your truck diaries. I started with American Truck Simulator. My first taste of simulators was 18 wheels of steel American Long Haul. I tried Euro truck and when I was younger I was so confused. Now watching you play is literally a vibe.
As a dane... I can't help to feel abit honored by the fact, that you would choose our "little" country to start your Diaries journey ;) Thanks for the videos, and stay cool Mr Squirrel.
just one thing for you all.. when your in a hired truck and you do notice your running low on fuel then you can refuel as the company pays it for you. so do not worry about the fuel cost
A fun thing would be if you bought a classic truck as your first truck. It kind off makes it more realistic because you would normally start your company with a old truck like a old scania, daf, mercedes ETC. There are many good moods for old trucks like that. :)
This is the first vid I’ve ever seen from you, and I instantly love your channel! You are so calm.. it’s nice to watch these while doing homework- or just relaxing, as I don’t need to give my full attention to it. :)
Found this 4 years later then posted, also wanted to thank you for helpul quide about the game, my fist game save was totally bad with poor workes and wrong training haha, but now thanks to your helpful quide about the game my new career is awesome and enjoybale, also just started playing this like month ago😇 Greetings from 🇪🇪

Since you drove this episode, much water has passed under the bridge! I enjoyed the trip with you, and your commentary. I used to drive, and survived about half a million miles in Canada and US. My daughter and her partner have discovered the American driving sim, and my daughter, who has been with me on for a week-long trip in southern US, corrects him, tells him that he can't do certain things... which is really funny! Anyway, here we are, under Covid-coloured skies, and I thank you for a fun journey.
I'm pretty sure the glass walls on the bridges are to stop people from throwing rocks onto boats and ferrys beneath and its glass instead of a wall so you can still see through onto the river. At least that's what they are for in AUS were i am living.
I am not sure about old truck but I do like the Scania T on the steam workshop. Also, you don't actually pay for the fuel of hire trucks yourself. How do I know? Well, I use to pull into petrol stations for no reason to waste the money of the employer, lol.
As I missed your first ET2 back in the day, this has been a pleasure to watch, look forward to traveling around Europe with you. I admire you starting this as now you are experienced it must be a challenge in some ways to go back to basics. Thank You 👏
Not to be rude or anything, but as a dane myself, I can very much hear that you pronounce Odense and aswell other danish cities wrong, however I truly understand you, because danish is a little weird if I should say so. I've listed a few tips for the pronounciation below, if you should be interested! :) Odense: O'ense - that way, you can get very close to the way we danes pronounce it nowadays :) Frederikshavn: Frederiks havn - Pretend there is a space between "Frederik" and "havn" and do not let it be "shavn". Presumably the havn there comes from the same root as haven in English meaning a place of refuge or safety but you do also see it in place names referring to inlets or bays that form natural harbours as they were places of shelter for ships so you get some port cities named that way in English like Milford Haven etc.
A great old truck that you might like is the Scania Series 1 by Shoofer. I used it and was really pleased with the mod. The only problem I found was the fuel tank! Great video as always Squirrel!
Hi Squirrel! So cool that you chose Denmark! I live just south-east of Hirtshals :D Btw; your pronunciation of the Danish cities... Oh dear... Oh dear... xD
I know this will be unpopular and I have not tried them, but I have seen some U.S. COE tractors/trucks that look and sound great. I still remember back in the days mods didnt exist yet and my potato pc could run this game on ultra now i need to put it on high and close all my programs to run 40 fps :(
great to see the ETS2 diaries kick-off. May I suggest the Mercedes-Benz NG1632 as "starter" truck. Did some miles on it and personally have not found much (i.e. nothing) wrong with it. Plus it has a 16 speed gearbox which might be cool with the SKRS.
Compared to the UK, yes it is. Current diesel prices in the us is around $2.40 USD per US gallon. That's about £1,80 GBP per US gallon. Diesel prices in the UK are currently around £4,14 GBP per US gallon. Which is around $5.43 per US gallon.
Those walls on the bridges, we have something similar here in Canada but they are usually made out of fencing material or something that resembles metal blinds, we mainly have those to prevent people from committing suicide by jumping off... but in your case it did seem to be solid plastic or glass so I guess they could also be used against noise.
+Squirrel I have found a classic truck with nice audio on it, and a great horn. It is a Ford Cargo D1210 V2. I have only tried it as a box/tandem truck, so I have no idea if it works with trailers. It is a 6 speed gearbox, and you can select from 6 speed slow or 6 speed fast gearbox. It comes with a range of paint variants, different chassis options, and I love the dashboard on it. Surprisingly for an old truck, it has cruise control on it too.
Being a dane, I found it highly amusing when you tried pronouncing the city names lol. Other than that, SCS did a great job on Denmark. The signs are surprisingly accurate, and they also did a pretty decent job on mapping and general scenario. (They especially nailed the houses)
If you are doing a 'Quick Job and you refuel, you will get a message on your route adviser that "Your Employer has paid for the fuel". It doesn't come out of your bank account. You used to know these things, Paul.
Late, but I've lived in England a while (I'm French), and pretty much everyone I knew that was British had a real hard time pronouncing anything that wasn't English (and yet)...
Loved the video. It sent me to sleep but I don't mean that it was boring in any way! :-) There was something soothing about it and it done the trick at 4am, haha. I'll need to catch up on the rest of the series of vids. Thanks for sharing! :-D
It would be great to see this series move to the multiplayer mod. I think it'd be interesting to see how you can work with the idiot drivers etc. and it sure would provide some funny videos. Keep it up Paul! :D
Not sure how I've only just discovered this channel but I'm glad I did! These videos are oddly therapeutic and the commentary is brilliant :) Keep up the good work fella! Also, are there any garages/locations in this game near my neck of the woods? (Doncaster)

Compared to the UK, yes it is. Current diesel prices in the us is around $2.40 USD per US gallon. That's about £1,80 GBP per US gallon.
Diesel prices in the UK are currently around £4,14 GBP per US gallon. Which is around $5.43 per US gallon.
+Flat4Buggy 2 For someone that lives in America, gas prices are high.
Munchkine26 come and live in the uk then you'll see how expensive it is here
Ours is approx 1000RS. One euro is 76RS. You do the math
Tyler Sluman People in UK get paid more on average than Americans so things are gonna cost more
Those walls on the bridges, we have something similar here in Canada but they are usually made out of fencing material or something that resembles metal blinds, we mainly have those to prevent people from committing suicide by jumping off... but in your case it did seem to be solid plastic or glass so I guess they could also be used against noise.
Trucking Diaries EUROPE not EU!
EU isn't just an abbreviation for the European Union, it's often used just for Europe - e.g. EU game servers
You're right and that's no doubt what he means but Trucking Diaries 'Europe' would sound better and avoid any confusion.
EU means European Union. It's just that many nations in ETS2 aren't part of the EU
EU it's the abbreviation of Europe too
EU it's the abbreviation of Europe too
+Squirrel I have found a classic truck with nice audio on it, and a great horn. Surprisingly for an old truck, it has cruise control on it too.
squirrel what is that map mod plz i would like to know
pro mods

Isn't it just the Scandinavia DLC?

+amit banai No It's not the scandinavia dlc is just Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Your driving makes the trip so nice
is there any f1 race car hauling mod for ets2 ?
the scania series 1 is a great classic truck. I used it for a while you're definitely in for some fun adventures with that one :)
Can someone tell me if u need a steering wheel for it
Do u need a steering wheel for simulators on PS4 can someone plz answer
Well, the ps4 comes with controllers, and ets2 can be done also with a keyboard and a joystick
You can (and I do) use controllers in ETS2, imo it’s the best option under steering wheel
No but for realism it's recommended
@@PreciselyTuned or a keyboard and mouse
Yes I am weird
We're so honored that the first ever UA-cam video was filmed here!
I know this is old but i wanna know your control setup
Alien go watch his setup video :)
Being a dane, I found it highly amusing when you tried pronouncing the city names lol. Other than that, SCS did a great job on Denmark. The signs are surprisingly accurate, and they also did a pretty decent job on mapping and general scenario. (They especially nailed the houses)
Most of what you see in this version of Denmark was heavily edited by the ProMods team. They made it realistic; SCS' Denmark looked like shite
for some reason I cant start in swedèn he says he has no mods but anyone else?
It's part of the Scandinavia DLC.
Oh thx
Alfie Jones No problem.
I get Norway and Sweden with the Africa mod (you get Norway, Sweden, Tunis, Morocco, and... uh.. oh yeah algeria
If you are doing a 'Quick Job and you refuel, you will get a message on your route adviser that "Your Employer has paid for the fuel". It doesn't come out of your bank account. You used to know these things, Paul.
No offense, Paul, but your Scandinavian pronounciasion(?) is very off
I agree, and I say it time and time again that I don't know how to pronounce these names
+Squirrel Just makes me giggle a bit. Im from Bergen
By the way, this might just be an American thing, but diaries are for women and journals are for men
On 22:36 thats a sound barrier. You can see it everywhere in the europe apart from UK
King of the roads squirrel, awesome vid
Love it mate, so good to see back to basics! Think I might just start a new profile too, getting a little monotonous.
It would be great to see this series move to the multiplayer mod. I think it'd be interesting to see how you can work with the idiot drivers etc. and it sure would provide some funny videos. Keep it up Paul! :D
Sound barriers are really common in Poland. They are whether transparent or green. On transparent ones there are, I think, swallows painted.
Not sure how I've only just discovered this channel but I'm glad I did! These videos are oddly therapeutic and the commentary is brilliant :) Keep up the good work fella! Also, are there any garages/locations in this game near my neck of the woods? (Doncaster)
22:30 Is is wind barrier, to help cross wind on the bridge. It is there for real, and the city to you left is also pretty close to the real deal.
