TheRogueSerafim there is nothing good about this game. It’s combat is literally broken. It has a story like the silent hill 2 movie. If it’s a pizza it’s one with a turd topping.
I remember when the game was released, the whole explanation for the action-heavy approach was that the main character was an army guy so he could use weapons more proficiently. When I got to the plot twist, I thought "well that must have been a very violent asylum". Either way, great video! I love how you actually went deeper and tried to find good stuff about it. Most reviewers just focus on saying this is terrible and unplayable. Also, for some reason i found it easier to kill almost every enemy with the knife than every other weapon.
they're good and original ideas here, i think. i like the concept of parental trauma, sibling resentment via the golden child/scape goat dynamic, and the monsters being the children themselves. seems like disconnecting from Silent Hill fanservice ie. the nurses and pyramid head could've helped, more of a focus on alex's father in the monster design and water design could've actually given it a similar vibe to SH2.

Then you’re not a silent hill fan you just like mindless fandom shit to get emotionally attached to.
Not the worst Silent Hill game, that mantle is claimed by the attrotious 'Book of Memories'. But it is definitely the poorest of the main series. The actual story wasn't too bad, but it almost felt like playing a licensed game of the SH movie rather than it being it's own entity. But the combat....oh, the combat! A tedious, tiresome, almost broken chore. And the primary reason why I've only ever played through Homecoming once. I tried to come back to SHH a couple of years ago - pondered why I had left it alone for so long - and quickly abandoned it after rediscovering the clucky fighting mechanics. What's worse is that you can't even ignore and sneak past the monsters in many situations like you can in the other SHs. Never had a problem in any of the other games - even Origins with it's breakable weapons.
Holy shit. I started watching your Silent Hill videos after finding your channel today and got hooked and binged them all only to find you just uploaded another one
The monster at 33:06 i thought it was like the representation of james from sh2 with her wife on his back since there is a trophy when you kill him that says "shades of james"
I have never played any silent hill games myself and only watched the first movie, but I gotta say that the monsters, story and above all the ambience of the town of Silent Hill is just so eerie and intriguing that I can’t help but learn more about it. Beside that, now that I have watched all of the HD remakes of the silent hill series, I must recommend you not only for your narration and great voice, but the overall quality of these videos! They are amazing and I love your attention to detail! 👍
I appreciate your opinion, you did a fair analysis and gave your opinion straight and true to your knowledge and experience. I still love the game as much as all 8 of them. Others being introduced to the Silent Hill series through this game and I personally have a few minor gripes with it myself, but I can find beauty in this game more than I can with other horror games of today. Really glad you finally got to Homecoming. And while you did have a somewhat mixed opinion, I hope you can see why some love it and how it has value to be in the Silent Hill franchise.
I don't care what anybody says... I really like this game. As a silent hill game, it's obviously not as amazing as any of the first four games, but for a domestic made game, I thought it was really good!... much better than Silent Hill Downbore
well i guess im the only one who loved the fast paced combat mechanics and animations, hell, i loved the whole game. Also, the bitch's death (Judge Holloway) was one of the most satisfying ever.
I CANNOT believe you just have 22k subs. You’re silent hill history series got me so hooked! Very well researched and got me (Who never played a single silent hills game) to try the games out. Great job! Looking forward to future videos
I played the PC version as well years ago. It was so glitchy that it's became unfair. During my playthrough, the boss Scarlet Doll and Asphisinx something have infinite health. I needed to restart the battle for the second time and pick a different choices in the conversation to correct this glitches. It's so frustrating.
Thanks for making this video, as I am looking for plot and ending explained in Silent Hill Homecoming. I've first played Silent Hill Homecoming on PC on 2009. It was a great moment as combat style using PC controller is easy, however glitch has been observed. Recently, in 2022, just like 1 week ago, I've bought silent Hill Homecoming at Xbox One S, the graphic was so-so but definitely better than PC in 2009, it broughts so much nostalgia. After I gamed over this game, I was so satisfied to replay old games since teenage life. This is my first time of playing silent Hill franchise, and the most vital quality for me is the horror, scary athmosphere, the ambience. It gave me some chills as well, and the plot was twisted and after you explained in your video, I could somehow can see the plot clear. You've done your research well! For glitch is the weakness in this game, for the combat style, I know it is even difficult but trust me, you will have to train and train, dodge for upcoming attacks and retaliate/attack. The music arrangement from the beginning (piano entrance) was everything in this game. I also really like how the game and the movie themselves got so many similarities. For the UFO ending, that is somehow the least liked in the game, it could be greater if the developer somehow puts more ideas in the begininng of the game, that hints about alien as well, such as collectibles, etc then it could make sense. To be honest, I really enjoyed the game as a horror game fan. For me, this is the first best silent hill games after silent hill shattered memories. (However, I didnt yet played silent hill 1,2 ,3 and downpour). Also a good plot twist there. The soundtracks also mesmerizing! I really appreciate the game developer for making their own original soundtrack, that is some level of originality and arts.
I love your channel bro, very quality content. I'm glad I found you! Now my fear is not to binge watch all your videos in a couple of days and end up back on the depression wagon.
Just started watching your series of silent hill.I just want to say that keep up the good work. These are honestly very interesting to listen and best of luck brother for your channel.
While Pyramid Head being there is partially fan service, he is also there to punish abusers, like he did to James in the second game. This is why he killed Alex’s dad but never actually harmed Alex(besides the dream sequence, but that didn’t actually happen).
I agree that PH wasn't supposed to be in HC but if we put that aside, PH is actually has purposes in HC. This was raised by GamingMuse. PH is guiding alex throughout the game, being an executioner and punisher. It punishes and bringing justice for alex that was feeling guilty and unable to punish as well as forgive himself or others. That's why he became a PH in one of the bad ending because he can't forgive others, punishing himself or others as well as feeling guilty. Moreover, alex fulfilling the role of PH itself, by collecting important items belonged to the 3 founder's family, he reminding those parents who had sacrificed their son and bringing them to "justice". Hence, it made PH as Alex "monster" in the game. He killed the tormented souls of the sacrificed children as an executioner. However, we all agree why PH? Some said PH has many and with many forms but do visit the GamingMuse for more clarification. There is theory or speculation about Alex was dreaming the whole time because he was woked up in SH after black out or faint every time when he found key items for the 3 founder's family. After he finished those business in SH, he woke up in shepherd's glen once again. Also in many bad endings, Alex woke up and ended up in other places and we could tell all that was happening during the game was just a dream. This is just a theory though, maybe he was just being teleported or summoned by SH just like in the predecessors. Anyway, nice series and video. Your voice is very soothing and suited for voice narrator.
Thank you for uploading Grand Gaming Channel! I watched as SOON as I got the notification. Another banger! LOVE your videos buddy! Please keep posting ❤
This was my first silent hill game. In retrospect, I can see why it’s so controversial, but at the same time, I still really enjoyed playing it. I thought it had the atmosphere down pat and that first scene where Alex walks in and sees his mother really made my skin crawl. The tension was well developed.
This is the only Silent Hill game I bought for myself, after having watched others play the rest. And my memory of the series made me assume I would be terrified and so I never got out of the room you start in. I never played more than a few minutes of it. However, this was the game that led me to find the consept of youtube lets plays. So it led me to relive yhe whole series here on youtube. I appreciate that.
Despite it`s "flaws" i`m gonna find some spare time at night this winter to play this game. You simply can`t play SH during hot summer days. And yes, my hometown is a foggy one too. :)
In the begining of the game you will hear the sound of a war. This indicates that he is actually in the war and he is a dying solder, and the hospital scene at first and the second scene as he is waking up in a truck is actually a story he creates in his head before death. It's a non linear storyline like inception or Christopher Nolan's other movies. They thought that you guys could figure it out. Upto me it's a great game over storyline.
Just watched all the silent hill serial videos. I have to say you did a great job. Thanks for all the time you put into this so that someone like me who did not play the games can still enjoy the stories and get how much effort the developers has put into the games. By the way I like your voice. #NoHomo
This game is a love story, between Elle and Alex, a sort of similar to SH2, but in this situation Elle summoned him from the grave, and he is similar to Maria, Alex the soldier is a manifestation of the town, this explained the vomit of blood, and the drill on the leg, and after that he walked fine. This also explained the absence of Shepherd's mausoleum in the game, bc probably Alex was buried there, the other option is the Dargento graveyard, since SH always open locations related to the character. Maria never face the truth about herself, the same situation probably happened to Alex.
Old school silent hiller here I quite like homecoming and elles theme is lit. It’s Gorey and the idea of the story is great. It would be mega if they remade ALL parts and make them make sense as a whole. All the slight indifference, create a full in line series how it should be
If Homecoming hadn't been, seemingly, trying to include as many references to the Silent Hill films (which I personally thought were pretty cool adaptions of a game universe, and were decent even as films in general) and references to earlier better games, then it could have been a great add to the Silent Hill series. For instance the way the kids who were sacrificed were made into horrifying bosses based on how they died was both great and very fitting to the way the town of Silent Hill takes the sins of people who go there and uses it against them. The flagalant father being killed by the beast that was created out of the suffering and method of how he sacrificed his little girl is a perfect example of it... So again, Homecoming could've been a great entry in this series. I think a more experienced dev team, both with more games under their belt and more familiarity of the games' universe would have pulled it off.
Every ending except for one is a hallucination. Based on what choices you make, the ending will be a hallucination of what guilt based fear the protagonist suffers. The ending that takes place in our reality is the one in which he gets electroshock therapy. The others are hallucinations taking place then. The choices dictate how he perceives the hallucination or if he breaks psychosis enough to be conscious during electroshock.
It has a very interesting storyline and have a good twist in the end. However the cult army part I felt unecessary. It should supposed to be battling your own demons. Just like in origins. For me travis story is just enough and linking it to alessa's back story is uneccesarry. Thou it really has grown on me.
I saw a video series on silent Hill and the guy brought up something interesting. The first 4 games had clear defined goals for the characters, Harry find his daughter, James, find Mary, Heather get home and then it changed to get revenge, Henry escape the room. After that this person's point was that there was not a clear goal for the characters. Travis wanders around for no real reason stumbling on a fire. I don't personally hate this game although I think it's bad for a silent hill game. Question which you might answer in the video, which is worse this game or evil within? I'm goign with evil within as I was at least willing to finish the good ending for this one. Never got m otivated to complete the other game.
The only reason I can think of other than fan service for Pyramid head being there, is that maybe he was sent from Silent to clean up since the families didn't hold their end of the bargain
This is not the case. Probably, I didn't explain well enough why so many people were furious about adding Pyramid head in Homecoming and the movie. Pyramid head is not some self-existing monster, he is the monster, that was created by the mind of James Sunderland from SH2. Yes, Pyramid head turned famous after that game, but still, it BELONGS to that game. It appeared because of James and only James could see it. And Team Silent did understand that, that's why there was no Pyramid head in SH3 and SH4, although they could add him there easily. Even Climax, who created SH Origins, replaced it with the Butcher. Because they understood the conception. They were CLEARLY inspired by Pyramid head, but still, it wasn't him.
I remember seeing this game in the Xbox 360 store when I was little and my sister used to play the originals, the game looked pretty scary to me at the time and I recently saw this game again on the Xbox One store. I thought a lot of people would talk bad about like usual but it turns out on the store people were rating this game very positively and some of them calmed to be hardcore fans. I’ll probably check it out.
I recently played through it again on the Xbox 360 and I didn’t experience any freezing and just a few frame drops. So my best guess is the PC version is just botched.
I did enjoy homecoming. Mostly I thought the back story to Shepard's Glenn was neat even if it had its plot holes. As for the ending, I really feel like they tried to give you that shock value ending like they did in sh2 and it just failed miserably. People didnt want that same old same old. I did enjoy the atmosphere in homecoming too. My favorite part had to be exploring the cemetery
Homecoming had fantastic bosses and boss cutscenes, great music and a plot that had a couple of moments. The gameplay was absolutely atrocious though (totally breaks when more than 1 enemy fights you) and the plot ends on a damp squib and is very abrupt also. Could've had the twist be perhaps that your younger brother, knowing he was more loved, was a bit vicious to you, always teasing, and in a moment of rage you snap and accidentally kill him. Instead its "hey give me my ring" "no", oops*breaks neck*" Not a terrible game but fairly bang average.
I just find it a shame. The plot is set up very well. Soldier coming back, town is empty, loads missing, the few remaining people acting weird. You go home, family missing, mother comes out of the basement and is traumatised and insane, you go out to find the rest of the family. Its a great hook. And the twist about the sacrifices, the manner of sacrifices, the foreshadowing is all actually very good. Then the ending rushes it totally with an ending cutscene barely a minute long and as I said, the gameplay was barely playable and janky. Top it off with the twist regarding you and your brother just being so clumsy and stupid. He slipped and died, wow. Its not even Alex's fault really. Still, when this game had good moments like the second boss, they really were amazing. I'd argue the descent to Scarlet, the cutscene, the song playing and the boss itself all combined would be in the top 5 best moments of the entire series. It really was outstanding.
@@DonalC96 I personally love the game just as much as it's other big and younger siblings. I think it offered something completly diffrent for a Silent Hill game that still stuck to it's roots all the while adding to the lore and making The Order the main enemy and it felt like Silent Hill for the first time wasn't the real monster town.
This game isn't bad! I played 1-4 before this, but it still was good, it was a good horror game but bad silent Hill, it should've had more ties to the main story, and the enemies should have relation with your character. But you should try this on console dude. Good experience.

I like the running gag of- **it was secretly aliens the whole time!**
Home Coming was really fun for me. The battle mechanics made it so much harder than the others, but it was fun and more tense.
I am inspired to make a game of Silent Hill one day bring back the true psycological horror.
Could you through references to all the games in :)
Too bad P.T. and Alison Road never got made. They both looked so good too.
While Pyramid Head being there is partially fan service, he is also there to punish abusers, like he did to James in the second game. This is why he killed Alex’s dad but never actually harmed Alex(besides the dream sequence, but that didn’t actually happen).
this is the best silent hill game . for me .
Loved your channel and the videos you upload.
Contrary to popular opinion, I loved silent hill homecoming and finished it.
Wish they could reform team silent, but at this point I'd take any new game.
Oh and Shep looks like Shepherd from Stargate Atlantis.
Alex should have stayed a soldier
In my opinion, compared to other horror games, every Silent Hill is still the best horror game.
While Silent Hill 2 is the best everything ever.
I don’t think this game measures up to the first 3 games in the series but it’s not bad. I would rate it ahead of Downpour and maybe even 4.
I loved the concept. A Silent Hill Game where you play a soldier coming home. A nice departure from the everyday person dealing with inner turmoil
When you get drilling from the lady on you leg and fight back was a pretty awesome scene.
Alex is the most fainty protagonist of any silent hill game, maybe even any game ever.
In my opinion this was a fun game regardless of how the story was put together. Compare it to downpour and it would look way much better.
Thank you for uploading Grand Gaming Channel! I watched as SOON as I got the notification. Another banger! LOVE your videos buddy! Please keep posting ❤
To be fair, siblings sneaking out at night is a very siblings thing to do.
This was my first silent hill game. In retrospect, I can see why it’s so controversial, but at the same time, I still really enjoyed playing it. I thought it had the atmosphere down pat and that first scene where Alex walks in and sees his mother really made my skin crawl. The tension was well developed.
Love the videos mate. Keep it up
Homecoming and Downpour are definitely my two favorites.
👋👋👋👋👋
You know why it was the least favorite?
Water.
Every one hates water levels
Just watched all the silent hill serial videos. I have to say you did a great job. Thanks for all the time you put into this so that someone like me who did not play the games can still enjoy the stories and get how much effort the developers has put into the games. By the way I like your voice. #NoHomo
It's quite interesting, I've seen all these videos by your channel, relating to Silent Hill so many times.
The worst game? hell no, that has to be shattered memories. This one wasn't great, but still a decent game imo.
I love how much silent hill content is getting recommended to me as of lately.
Very nice UA-cam.
Hank Hill I love silent hill... one of my favorite games of all time
@@JessicaGarcia-xf9wr not games. But favorite psychological horror games.
Hank Hill right on dude 🤙🏻
I actually remember watching the original vid this summer.
This is either a reupload or a renewed version.
So excited about another one of your Silent Hill videos.
There are some silent hill games I like more than others, but in the end I love them all
It would make sense with the bad ending whenever Alex had headaches it would have been from the static shock. Love the vids btw
I actually liked Homecoming, although the only nagging point with this game is that none of the character are likeable beside Alex
I love your chanel! You doing a great job and you explain everything so well!
Yeah i got the wierd alien ending when i played likely why i only played once
Old school silent hiller here I quite like homecoming and elles theme is lit. It’s Gorey and the idea of the story is great. It would be mega if they remade ALL parts and make them make sense as a whole. All the slight indifference, create a full in line series how it should be
Luv your vids! I was waiting so long for anything to come up, thanks man!
man, Josh had some et fingers when he showed Alex that ring
12:07 Silent Hill just had a crossover with The Human Centipede.
Now I'm just giddy with excitement over the prospect of you maybe tackling The Suffering series some day.
Pyramid Head is just vibing tbh
I did enjoy homecoming. Mostly I thought the back story to Shepard's Glenn was neat even if it had its plot holes. As for the ending, I really feel like they tried to give you that shock value ending like they did in sh2 and it just failed miserably. People didnt want that same old same old. I did enjoy the atmosphere in homecoming too. My favorite part had to be exploring the cemetery
The creature design is the best part of this game.
Instead its "hey give me my ring" "no", oops*breaks neck*"
Not a terrible game but fairly bang average.
I think it offered something completly diffrent for a Silent Hill game that still stuck to it's roots all the while adding to the lore and making The Order the main enemy and it felt like Silent Hill for the first time wasn't the real monster town.
i have this false memory of a silent hill game where it ended with all the protagonists meeting up
It's one of the endings in Downpour :)
This game isn't bad! I played 1-4 before this, but it still was good, it was a good horror game but bad silent Hill, it should've had more ties to the main story, and the enemies should have relation with your character. But you should try this on console dude. Good experience.
I got the alien ending on my first run through. It’s funny.
Honestly, this was the first silent hill I ever played. I enjoyed the game a lot since I didn’t play the other ones. Once I played silent hill 2 and 3, I realized why homecoming was inferior to the series, but it was still a damn good game in my opinion.
