What an amazing year this has been! Very pleased by the number one pick for this year. This gives me a lot to choose between for my Top Story of the Year for my periodical. Also, apparently the Floridian was created due to temporary trackwork for the East River Tunnels next to Penn Station moreso than freeing up equipment.

As a european it's interesting to see what is happening in america with its railroads
Sadly we also have lots of delays in new projects mostly due to funds missing etc. i hope 2025 will be a good year for railways in general!

Caltrain's EMUs will make a difference for riders with faster speed and electrification and MARC could also Stadler EMUs on its Penn Line, NJT on the Northeast Corridor, SEPTA on its electrified routes, and MBTA on its Providence Line since all those routes are already electrified.

I did find out that the new Dual Mode SC42-DMs are to Heavy when fully fueled up to go on the raised portion of tracks at Harlem 125th street. Which is why they are upgrading and doing maintenance on them because they want to be able to run on third rail all the way to croton. My source was my Father who is a Locomotive engineer at Metro North and they are already doing simulators for the new engines to train crew

Brightline did the groundbreaking ceremony almost a year ago, but they haven't actually broken ground on any portion of the project yet. They're still just doing soil samples.
CAHSR broke ground in 2015 on the first section and in 2018 and 2019 on the other two. And the first section, CP4, is already completed. The other two are over 80% complete and on track for 2026 completion. In November 2008 the first round of funding was passed by the voters in a statewide referendum. This is what funded all the pre-construction and design activities in 2009-2015 after which they broke ground.

Honestly, the next four years will be very challenging for both rail industry projects and America as a whole. If Project 2025 and Trump's new administration move forward, they could disrupt future rail projects from 2025 onward. I believe state funding will need to work overtime to keep these vital passenger and commuter services afloat. Some people suggest that Trump is not opposed to high-speed rail; however, I highly doubt that. I have a feeling Elon Musk might be against it. Nevertheless, I'm trying to approach 2025 with optimism. I just hope that whatever happens, both freight and passenger rail are not too negatively affected or reach a point of financial instability.

Fear mongering about Trump is not the way to go about this. I know the houseplant of a president we’ve had for 4 years pretty much let anything fly but look what that did to the economy. Just because you aren’t happy with the election results doesn’t mean you can spread fear about Trumps supposed threat to rail projects. (We’ll just ignore the fact that he green lighted the portal north bridge.) Other than that, great recap!

Okay so he greenlit one project, that doesnt mean hes going to do much a favor for the rest. The economy is going to hel ldue to a pandemic, alot of people seem to fail to understand we just got out of a global pandemic or that it will effect economies. Lets not forget Musk is getting pretty involved here, and the reason he put so much to the Hyperloop was to undermine and ruin CAHSR. Lets also take into account the right wing's general disdain for public transit, and preference for the oil lobby. Theres alot of evidence to support any concerns of this new admin's attitude towards rail expansion

That "houseplant" of a president managed to get an infrastructure bill passed - something that neither 45/47 or his republican predecessors managed to do. Biden did NOTHING wrong and did not tank the economy. He inherited a mess and high inflation but it started to taper off to the point where it's MUCH lower than it was. Yes, I am indeed unhappy with the election results. To think that 45/47 cares about public transportation, safety, fair prices or anything else is a fantasy. Other than that, yes, the recap was good. I hope that some major proposals survive the next four years.
