Except for the Palestinian people! This is a women who preach against altruism, but decided to collect welfare in her old age. Ayn Rand wanted people to see themselves as individuals, because it is easier for the rich and powerful to control people as individuals.

@Daniel DeBlasio I could not find any anti Palestine comments from ms rand only pro Israel one as for your anti individual comment I can't think of a dictatorship that has expressed the protection of individual rights all of them group people up then direct them towards a common enemy often a minority that has more than them example jews in western Europe the saxens in eastern Europe the Indians in East Africa and the Chinese in Indonesia

She lived through crazy shit. She urgently wanted people to understand the life and death struggles and suffering she saw. She didn't have time for people's feelings. I don't mean that in an insulting tone. I doubt she did either. People need to be open-minded when reading her work.

@Xavier Smith I see what you did there, LOL. Good comment. A former friend of mine was the first person I ever met IRL who praised and admired Rand and her ideas. And the way she (my friend) put it was like this: "I'll help anyone out if they need a hand, but at the first sign of entitlement or a lack of gratitude, I'M OUT." I was impressed.
And it crushes me to remember this, but she eventually found an extramarital lover who suggested that she marry him as soon as her divorce was final, "so she wouldn't end up a spinster." And she accepted this attempt to destroy her independence and self-esteem from a man that I consider to be the living embodiment of Ellsworth Toohey. To say that I felt betrayed is an understatement.

It wasn't even that. They put no thought or effort into her propositions whatsoever. Instead, someone told her she is bad, and they just believed it. Just like other people we know now. "So-and-so is TERRIBLE!" "WHY??" "Because..[insert thought crimes]"

@TookALevelInBadass the market fixes itself. When you have a message and an idea that people crave for, you will be successful. There is a reason why Milo, McInnes, Shapiro, Crowder, many other comedians that are, so called "cancelled" are thriving. Even Richard Spencer, a morally reprehensible individual, is still making money and living a great life. The market will always prevail 👍

" Tell men that altruism is the ideal. Not a single one of them has ever achieved it and not a single one ever will. Man realizes that he's incapable of what he's accepted as the noblest virtue - and it gives him a sense of guilt, of sin, of his own basic unworthiness. You've got him. He'll be glad to obey - because he can't trust himself, he feels uncertain, he feels unclean."
"You must tell people that they'll achieve a superior kind of happiness by giving up everything that makes them happy. That's the oldest one of all. It stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there's someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master. I said, 'It stands to reason.' Do you see? Men have a weapon against you. Reason. So you must be very sure to take it away from them. Cut the props from under it. But be careful. Never deny anything outright. Just say that reason is limited. That there's something above it. What? You don't have to be too clear about it. You tell him he must not try to think, he must feel. He must believe. Suspend reason and you play it deuces wild. Anything goes in any manner you wish whenever you need it. You've got him. Can you rule a thinking man? We don't want any thinking men."
So fitting for todays altruistic demand for the lockdown and blind acceptance of the economic destruction in its upcoming wake. So fitting in our willingness to give up reason to the higher authority of "academics" and "scientists"
In technocratic fascism it's the people in white coats and little glasses that dictate not the ones wearing military uniforms or wear artificial 4 year crowns.

The coming second Renaissance will be the first with an axiomatic, hierarchical, fully integrated philosophy.

If you don't criticize the wrongs of liberals, you'll never be free of the chains they place on you. There is still half of our country which aims to bring us to a liberal wasteland, and they must know that the leftist solutions are wrong, and even our momentary triumph with Trump isn't our goal, but our aim. If we only talk about how well trump, is then the leftists will still find him at fault, but if we can convince them that the liberal solutions are bad, then we will have won in their hearts. Although the heart of a man is simply the arena of emotion, whether that be moral, and good, or sinful and evil, transferring their ideas towards the good will be a start. As long as the left hasn't entirely abandoned reason we still have a chance, for us to change their beliefs, pragmatically because they will see the failings of the left and that the only viable options are held on the right.

You are talking nonsense. You are what you blame rand for - Inflexible. I gave an example, you deny it without reason. and call me idiot. If randism is not practical and never applied anywhere what are you upset about? People like you only, pretend care about others, carry flag of altruism, but get upset with simple criticism. Selfish people only care about themselves, but dont necessarily hurt others. People like you want to hurt and demean, others to feel better.

There are several fallacies, if not entirely, in your sentences. Firstly, there is nothing like Randism. Sencondly Rand was not against democracy. Thirdly her whole philosophy was about dignity. And you started sentence with giving an excuse for being hurt, with simple argument. Can this get any pathetic?

Yes, Real Christianity is a way of life, not a religion. Jesus died for our sins and shame, so that we may live!
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."
Jesus knows the heart of man, because we see these very acts TODAY!!

Atlas Shrugged is Rand's central work. It is very long. It starts off somewhat slow taking a great deal of time to describe characters and circumstances. Then, it grows more compelling by the page. It works on many levels. If you have the time to read leisurely and ponder as you go, this will probably be the best book you ever read. Fountainhead is also a great one and much shorter.

    • @Brindapr

fake feminists. Feminism is about protecting female rights not man trashing. Anyone who doesn't follow that isn't a feminist, don't believe them when they say they are one, they're just using it as a facade to their own means.
In my country atrocities against women are a serious problem, female foeticide is so rampant there are entire districts that can't find wifes and daughter in law, and they then resort to kidnapping women from neighbouring districts to make them their wives. Women are forced to have children until they give birth to a male child. So marital rape is rampant. The constitution protects against these, but the culture of people doesn't, so any self respecting woman who raised her voice against these is considered characterless, if a raped woman wants to file charges the police questions her morality "she shouldn't have gone out at that time, she shouldn't have worn that dress, she shouldn't have existed, it's her duty to comply as a wife" (eyeroll)

Even though Rand would have probably have been appalled by this comparison, Toohey's advice is very similar in many ways to that of the devil-like character in C S. Lewis's Screwtape Letters, wherein the devil-like character writes to his nephew, a lesser, novice devil, on how to demoralize and weaken the religious faith of his human victims.
I say Rand would have been appalled because of course she was an ostensible atheist, while Lewis was a prominent Christian. I say "Ostensible atheist" because there are places in Rand's writings that suggest some non-atheistic features of her thought. At one point in the Fountainhead someone says of Roark that though he will say he does not believe in God, he really does. Rand has also written somewhere that "God is a psychological reality". Isn't that a type of belief?
There are differences between Screwtape and Toohey, however. Whereas Toohey is trying to destroy humankind's hope and spirit, Screwtape's aim is to corrupt human souls, and, ultimately, to lead them to damnation.

I can think of one historical individual who achieved that level of altruism, who so happens to be the inspiration of billions throughout the world. But altruism has always been, and can never not be but an individual endeavor, not a principle imposed upon one against his will. Any system that demands one be made poorer so others can be made richer is inherently evil, not altruistic by any means.
