  • This video documents our experience flying on Delta Airlines from Minneapolis to Amsterdam, and then from Amsterdam to Munich, Germany on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. We had a very tight connection in Amsterdam, which is a huge airport, but both us and our checked luggage did make it! Once we arrived in Munich, we took the Lufthansa Express bus to the Nordfriedhof stop, which was very close to our hotel.

We don’t cancel flights here in Fargo much either! The upper Midwest is truly an experience in winter 😂
It’s been very foggy here as well.
Magic school bus is still great! Idc how old I am!
I wish I wasn’t terrified of flying. I flew to Baltimore a couple years ago and back and the end result wasn’t great. It actually affected my mental health for a year pretty severely. It wasn’t like the flights were bad, I’m just really that scared, even though I know a good amount about aviation. I’d love to travel though! My BF has been to Europe as well. He said his favorite country he was able to visit was Switzerland. He went with a group of students, so the trip was planned by his school. They didn’t get to stay in places more than a few days and events were planned. But from what I recall it was a 16 day tour of various countries in Europe. He loved it, but wishes he could have experienced more and enjoyed some down time as it became extremely exhausting traveling to 5 or 6 countries in 16 days. He just wishes he could have had the time to enjoy it more and not be so rushed.

I'm sorry that flying is so tough for you. Have you looked into train travel or cruising? You're even closer to Canada than we are, and Canada has some beautiful train routes. I traveled all over the U.S. on Amtrak with my dad when I was younger. There are regularly scheduled transatlantic crossings on Cunard in both directions if you want to explore Europe without flying. Or you could take another cruise line when they reposition their ships (spring & fall), although those take longer. There is no need to ever fly within Europe; their train infrastructure (and buses even) is far superior to what we have in the United States. It is actually possible to travel the world without flying if you're determined to do so. There are people who have even done it on foot!

@ these are all things we’ve considered if we ever get the opportunity. I have a general interest in transportation infrastructure, mainly rail transportation, so any chance I have to take a train is very exciting! I’ve never been on a ship before but have said if I were to cross the Atlantic, I’d probably go on Queen Marry 2, as she is the last of the true ocean liners. But I’m open to other ships or crossing the Pacific.
I’ve never been up to Canada, though I want to. We just don’t have passports currently lol. Honestly, we rarely make it down to the cities. I’m hoping Amtrak Borealis does come up this way because maybe we would be able to go more often.
      Happy and safe travels ❄️🙂

The Empire Builder goes through Fargo. We've ridden that train many times.

@ I took EB to Chicago once. Loved it! My BF and I would like to go to Portland or even take Zephyr, which is suppose to be a beautiful route as well (really if I’m not a train I’m happy lol). But Borealis would be a day train, which is why we’d prefer it depending on the situation. EB is usually here around 2AM. When I went, it was 3hrs late due to flooding in Minot, so it didn’t get here until 5AM. But people here really want a day train! I think if I remember right, the schedule concept is for Borealis to be here at 8AM or something. There’s also talks of reopening the North Coast Hiawatha line from Montana to Chicago, which would travel through more mid state cities like Bismarck and Jamestown before coming to Fargo to go to Chicago. It sounds like they are in planning phase last I heard. I’m actually very excited for the future of rail travel here. While I still want legacy long route like EB to be high speed with more shorter routes being standard, I’m still excited that we’re getting new engines and cars. I’m also excited for Brightline. And Acela I’m not sure if the new train is in service yet or if it’s a few months out, but it looks really nice!

Do you know how much it costs? Also, where and how do you pay? I've never noticed kiosks or anything anywhere.

Yes the fare is 2.75 or 6 hr pass for $6(?) And the kiosk for tickets are at the level between the stairs from the airport and to the loading area on the train. If the light rail police catch you without a ticket I think it's a $200 fine
