Nice honest review. I drooled over the sw for some time, but ended up wilt a burgman 650. Last year I upgraded to t-max for a bit more driving fun (and the cruise control!). Both have embarrassingly low mileage, but my yearly 420mi outing trip goes nicely in one sitting, and I still hold up for the final climb to the cabin in the mountainside. Maxi scooters are fantastic touring machines. Thank you for sharing.
I owned a Honda Reflex 250 years ago. It was a blast. It changed my mind about CVT. I just picked up a 2006 Silverwing with 45,500 miles on it. It runs great. It will serve me well for years. Getting used to the low center of gravity again is day by day. But, once you do. It is nimble.
On a Suzuki Burgaman 650 to change a drive belt you need to lift the motor out. On a Honda Silverwing 600 you can do it easily just by removing the drive belt cover.
@@motardsquidYes Burgman has great features but pain in the ass to service. SW600 is easy to service as any other small scooter out there. In Italy lot of SW600 with over 130k miles...running like new.
I had a Silverwing 400 cc for 4 years. Apparently it also had a problem with the chassis, over 125 kilometers per hour he would start shaking in the front. Other than that it was super reliable and I sold it with over 120,000 km when it went without any problems. In terms of fuel consumption on the other hand, it would do no more than 35 miles per gallon in the city and about 47-50 miles per gallon on the highway (usually riding in two). The Integra that replaced the Silverwing (nc700d), was much more economical but much less comfortable, certainly when two are on the saddle.
I've had 3 Silverwings, Burger 650, Forza300, Kymco AK550, and a few others. NEVER had one get so low on mpg even when driving 85 mph. Are you using high octane. These scooters are designed for 87 octane, regular. They do not do well using the wrong octane. All 3 of mine got 54-62 depending on if I trying to get somewhere fast or cruising like you. Riding like you appear to be in the video, you should be getting upper 50's. Beautiful scoot. I had the maroon 2004 that was close to that color. Other 2 were silver and black. I could ride mine over 200 miles per fill up.
Give it a try on your next camping trip -it is well capable of riding one gravel, has plenty of storage for the gear, and it's really nice to hop on and hop off. it will lack the style and show of an adv bike, but it will make it up with everything arriving and leaving the camp site :)
4:26 Gas mileage is maybe bad...but hey that scooters just rips on the road. Mine takes around 5.8liters per 100km which is around 41Mpg but to be honest I drive without limitations. I rip every time that throttle when green light comes.Just the faces of those bikers and car drivers as I dissapear in front of them makes me laugh every time.😂
I bought an 03 two months ago with 16650 miles. Givi windshield and givi rear box. 45 mpg is bout it for me. I rather go fast and buy gas!! Only gave $2500
I payed only 1500 with 24k miles looks like brand new 2008 with ABS/CBS. Colour black/cameleon...it changes colour on the different angle. Not sure if this is factory paint looks awesome.
I have a honda silverwing with 1500 miles and I regret it. It's painful at 6'1" 220lbs. Gets speed wobbles trying to keep up with freeway traffic. Incredibly unstable. Dangerous on the highway and cramped and overweight on the sidestreets. I was more comfortable on a 1979 yamaha qt50.
I'm 6'2" 270lbs (ok fine 280, I'm fat) and I can cruise comfortably at highway speeds with no problems. Try removing the "butt bumper" back rest and you'll gain about 3" of room. But honestly, your bike might be damaged, I can get my silver wing over 100 mph up and over mountain passes and I 've never heard of a silver wing with speed wobbles, at least not one that hadn't been wrecked.

Got a 2010 and love it. Sold my BMW K1200LT because it was too heavy. Don't regret keeping the silverwing. Wife and l go all over yhe place on it.
My bad 2019 Xmax 300 does 90.5 mpg. Super happy with that. I came from a 2006 Intruder that did half that.

woah, no way. Thats crazy. Good to know. Thanks
@@is3260 INteresting, i definately don't know much about the burgman, but it does seem it has some great features.

I always enjoy your rides and honesty
I have a 2003 Honda silverwing 600 and it gets about 50-55 mpg.
How you get 55Mpg is beyond my imagination. Had 2 SW600 and none could get that mileage.

Hi, where did you get the phone holder please ? Can you post a link ?

The ride is much more fun on a SW than driving a Corolla.
I have a feeling that with a shorter stock windscreen, you would see closer to 55mpg, which is what I think you should be getting.
Where did you get that phone holder?
I got it from ram mounts
The fun factor is well worth the lower gas mileage

that windshield looks wrong and the trunk is too big
Wow that's poor gas mileage, my Maxi Scooter Honda Forza 350 does a minimum of 80 to 90 mpg even when cruising at 80 MPH
yeah i was surprised about the mpg. I think if i ever go maxi scooter again it has to be 250cc
