Excellent video, probably the best I've seen on the Silverwing. I purchased a slightly used 2006 model in 2008 because my doctor misdiagnosed my lyme disease in 2007 and had me convinced I was going to suffer from arthritis the rest of my life. I could not throw my leg over the seat of my current bike during that period and had lost strength in my grip. The Silverwing was a great bike to allow me to keep riding and I needed that at the time. In late 2009 I finally got properly diagnosed and recovered well. I bought a nice used Goldwing in 2010 and did the Traxxion Suspension and I love it. However, I could not part with the Silverwing. It was just too practical and just too much fun in town, and as you mentioned, longer rides which would happen a lot because the bike is more than capable, and you just want to keep going and get lost on it sometimes. I almost put it up for sale this spring because I will be moving from Massachusetts to Florida, and I need to downsize and get rid of some things. But I realize Florida traffic is not for the weak, and it may not be practical of me to use the Goldwing for around town riding. Your video helped put an end to my thoughts of selling. It's a much safer and practical bike for my situation. I'm feeling it would actually be stupid of me to sell it now so I''ll be going to Florida with two bikes! Thanks!
I've toured the lower 48 pulling a trailer. It was AWESOME!!! I got 55-62 mpg on my 2004 and that was with the trailer on that cross country trip. And yep, I had that Forza 300 RED too. I must say, you have good taste in scooters!!!!! Good video!!! Thanks..... Edit: I see why you get low MPG. I would cruise at 60mph and found that it was the best overall performance/economy.
Great video, thanks! I have a rider's course next month to get my M endorsement. I'm considering a Silverwing for my first bike and this video really highlighted exactly what I'm looking for!
They're a great bike in almost every respect, except for the mpg, and the dash which is now looking rather dated. I nearly bought one but eventually decided on the T-Max 500, which was also a great scoot. I've now got the Burgman 400 which has great economy, storage etc. but doesn''t have the power or smoothness of the S Wing or TMax, but it's a compromise and a great scoot in it's own right, being simple and easy to work on, and utterly reliable. Great video, thanks for posting.
I just bought my second Silverwing too. I paid $1800 for an 03 with 8,200 miles and it’s nearly flawless. I wonder if the guy who owned it tuned it with pulley weights or new variator. The one now feels faster than my first one. 0-60 in under 6 seconds and 70 mph cruise shows 5400 rpm.
Yes, these Maxi scooters are vastly under rated. I have both a GL1800A Goldwing and a Suzuki Bergman 650 and have now decided to sell the Wing. The scooters are loads of fun and easier for an older guy like me to deal with (80 yrs old). The Silverwing looks like a good alternative in this market. Too bad both companies stopped making them
Thanks for the content! Still have the bike? Used to ride more than decade ago with 600cc Suzuki. Haven't ridden since then, would you consider this beginner friendly? I don't really want to go smaller and then feel would have to upgrade shortly after, know what I mean.
Nice video. I am looking at my first silverwing soon. I have been thinking about the burgman 400. Does this model have a park brake since its a heavy bike?
Great video. Enjoyed it. Thinking of getting a 2006 model. I think that there is no difference with this one. What is the service interval on this one? Thanks a lot and drop by, you may like my content.
Yup, it's a shame honda dropped it instead of updating it. I read the new adv750 (sold overseas) only has 54 hp. These were rated at 50hp and they run strong.
@@brianrichard1768 I have never owned a motorcycle before and Im looking @ 2005 with 20,000 miles and was not sure if this had plenty of miles left on it ...
For someone coming from a motorcycle background, who’s looking for a city bike that can do occasional highway trips, sometimes with a small passenger, would you recommend this or a Forza?

@brianrichard1768 thx for your swift reply , I had a 2003 silverwing and couldnt fault it really , handling was a bit iffy if pushed but nothin wrong with the drivetrain - a touch more oomph acceleration would have been well received though - sadly I sold her and am now hunting for another good example .

I am the happy owner of a 2004 swing
Love her to pieces! Great video❤
I bought mt 1st swing 2 months ago. Burgundy! I absolutely love it! I'm 54 and always find a reason to ride it
Congrats! Not sure why Honda stopped making them. They are so versatile. Good luck with yours.
What’s the top speed and are the stable compared a road bike and are they good for long distance 👍
@@gerardkinsella6034 top speed is around 110mph
@@brianrichard1768 They didn't stop making them. They stopped importing them to N. America. They are a bit more modern now, but still recognizable.

Went from denmark to italy and back again in 35 degree celcius, no problems

Thinking of buying me one of this. The front looks similar to my Yamaha smax..
It's heavier but they roll pretty fast.

How stable is it at those high speeds? Curious cause the 10 in rear wheel makes it really unstable at high speeds
Perfectly fine at speed. No issues and smoother than some motorcycles.

How many miles on an engine does a Silverwing last ?
Pretty far. It's not a high stressed engine. As with all vehicles, Change your every 3000 miles and do required maintenance.
