- Replacing Valve Cover gasket on 1JZGTE VVTI engine in JZX110 Mark 2. It's pretty much same in all VVTI JZ's such as JZX100, JZS171, JZZ30, JZA80 Supra , IS300 etc or even non VVTI JZA70, JZX90 JZZ30 and so on.
Oil cover gasket is usually No.1 suspect of major oil leaks on JZ engines. "Usually". In my case it unfortunately didn't fix oil leak(s) as engine leaks from every possible seal how it seems. I'm going to do Timing Belt, water pump, tensioners and all front oil seals (including VVTI pulley) soon so stay tuned for video of that.
Even though it didn't fix my problem, if your engine is wet from top to bottom, it's very likely that only valve cover gasket is leaking so it's definitely worth changing it out (it's super easy to do too).
NOTE: Be careful when tightening valve covers as they are soft and easily break! A lot of people break them when changing gasket.
Toyota recommends putting RTV gasket maker on corners of gasket but I've put it on whole front and back side, just in case. Also remember, to re-tight valve cover every once in a while.
Nice to see you makin new videos 👍🏻
Greetings from sunny Zagreb!
How's it going guys? Yeah, occasionally I fire up video thingamajiggers and shoot some just to remind myself why I don't do it more often :D. But yeah, you can expect some video now and then. Greetings from oven toaster called Tokyo!
Glad to hear it's sunny. Can you take it like... Whole on your side, away from here haha? Video was recorded a while ago, but this was last rain in over a month now. Tokyo is frying on +40-41 every day without a single cloud. Can't take it anymore!! :(
hey mate have you had any issues with running the aftermarket intake ? Some 110 owners reporting having a weird idle after installing intakes
Hey, how's it going. I don't have such issues but I would stay away from them. The Blitz LM that I have is great at filtration and filter itself is replacable but it's a bad product overall.
The MAF tube is smaller in diameter than stock, which is messing with the readings (causing it to run rich and hit boost cut sooner). Not to mention it's always falling out of stock intake hose because of that. I also recently found on mine that one of MAF mounts has broke of out of blue sky.
They are good for sound and that's it. Stock airbox is waaaaaayyy better at everything else, especially at keeping temps down. I get up to 40c degree difference in summer stop and go traffic between Pod and stock airbox (logging directly from MAF). Even in constant cruising, temperature difference is always at least 20-30c degrees (with stock airbox being the cooler one). They just sit in hot engine bay next to exhaust while stock airbox pulls cold air out of the front. Blitz one comes with "heatshield" but that's a useless joke. I've made my own shielding around it, utilizing stock intake snorkle so it's pulling the air from the front of car as well and that lowered temps quite a lot but it will never be airbox level. You could drill the chassis and route it somewhere away in the bumper but have to be careful of water then.
Then add that also most of other pods suck at filtration too so will mess up the turbo and engine over time. Recently friend had his HKS pod break on his 110 and the sand / dust granaded the turbo.
I mount mine only around winter because yeah.... Sound is damn good after all but as soon as it get's warm outside, stock airbox it is.
Did you have to changed the spark plug seals tube?
You mean the ones on coils / wires? Haven't changed anything around there. They are basically just to keep dust out (or oil in this case that shouldn't leak in the first place).
