  • On this epsiode of The Skid Factory we head up to Goleby's Parts to fit and test some bolt on performance upgrades for the daily driver Crown wagon including a 3 inch Turbo back Stainless Steel exhaust system and an Aluminum Front Mount Intercooler Kit.
    Taking advantage of Madoc Tunings dyno in the same complex as Goleby's Parts, we test each modification as they are fitted to see the real back to back gains.

      I may have made a slight error in judgement when I swapped my SC300 from 2JZ-GE to 1JZ-GTE Twin-Turbo and now I find myself needing a rebuild and I live in Texas. Would you guys recommend Goleby’s parts availability to those of us on the other side of planet? I already trust your recommendation based on quality.

      take the licence plate off the centre of bar then it breaths air. you have it restricted by the plate covering it

    Situated in the EU and running a business restoring old, mainly british cars, I have ocasionaly bought parts from Australia and have allways been very pleased with the quality and build of of the stuff. So if you have the time to import from A* you can pretty much depend on getting good quality and reasonably priced Parts. Keep up the good work 👍

    So in love with the crown. Golbys have looked after me even when I'm in Vic. Highly recommend them also. There quality of parts looked epic.

    That 2 "cylinder" engine needs turbo this big so apex seals can fall straight through it without being stuck inside

    Awesome video and not bad gains for the mods really. Jesse will wake that 1jz up with the new turbo, the man can tune anything. I’m a return customer of his and will not be taking my cars elsewhere after the great service I’ve had from Jesse and MADOC. So sick!

    What I like is the fact that the guys are using tools and not rattle guns, which over stretch bolts, old saying, turn the nut, not the bolt

    Gradual changes. Great work. Great to see what each gives. All these mods are required got the big gains to come later on.
    Fantastic locally made and engineered parts here.
    Alot of jzs have terrible fuel systems like this crown, I always thought there was space for a Ford falcon type surge tank but I gave up and put in a drop tank in my is300

    I myself just did a 1jz non vvti swap into an s13 and with similar mods made 265 whp! Full 3 in exhaust, 3 in intake and FMIC with 2.5in piping at 11psi, can't wait to pick up a LINK ecu!

    Possibly the new two cylinder supra would have that setup on it. Cool episode, especially the part where you get other people to put parts on your car instead of the other way round.

    I'm surprised the number plate was not relocated to the side to give more access to the intercooler also what brand are the hose clamps used on the intercooler piping

    This reminds me of playing Gran Torismo on the PS.. ya buy ya first car on there..(usually a MX5/Miata) then go and buy the addons, slap an exhaust on it, see how much power it increases, then slap an intercooler on, check the gains, ECU, then Air Cleaner... check how much power.. then slap a massive turbo on it and see how much the power goes up! Love it! (ps, i noticed the name correction towards the end Woody!) ;)

    Nice bolt on performance gains.
    You need a extra wastegate actuator to tip the numberplate out under boost.

    Jzs171 crown also shares a lot of its parts with an is200. I’ve bolted a jzs171 crown 1J straight into mine using all factory mounts and a dump pipe suited for a crown. All fits perfectly 👌 even the suspension is the same

    I love me some 1JZ Vvti action! Prices sure have changed somewhat since I bought my late model Vvti 1J Soarer many moons ago. I did all these bolt on upgrades like you guys, first the intercooler, second a 2.5 catback, third the dump pipe and with an eManage ultimate it made 203rwkw, with boost tapering off at 15psi.

      @@puliukk0 Me too - I went through all the stock mods before refreshing the head, adding a Haltech elite, cams and twin turbos for 550whp. Really great engines!

      @@minni1094 Yep. Had some free CT12s in my garage. I'm friends with a talented fabricator who did the manifolds and pipework. Had the turbos highflowed, steel wheels with upgraded wastegates. It makes 414rwkw on 25psi, on E77. Looks stealthy and has great response.

    The turbi is for a mk5 supra. Because the exhaust manifold is part of the head.

    Did you guys do the run up through the hills from Twba to the SC. I used to work in Twba during the working week & lived in Scarborough on weekends. Rather than battle the shit through Brisvagus, I would take to the hills in my XR6T. I can't say I had a boring drive to or from work during those couple of years. If you haven't & the recent floods didn't trash the roads too much, I would highly recommend the drive next time you visit sunny Twba. Thanks for sharing this very interesting part of the development process. 😃👍

    Putting a louder but not obnoxious exhaust system on my car was the best bang-for-buck mod to make the car more fun. Can't tell if it makes more power, but it sure does sound faster.

    The one thing I hate about VVTi 1jz is the stock turbo being hugely undersized for my driving style. I guess its great for some but I hate being on boost from 10% throttle at 2000rpm and falling flat past 4000rpm. Makes the car feel very boring to me, I much prefer a turbo that I can easily drive off boost and is efficient all the way to redline, it feels like I have much more control over the throttle with a larger turbo as it doesn't spike into boost with 5-10% throttle yet still feel the engine isn't making power.
    Also I love how the front mount is completely covered by the front bar hahah, but that bolt on surge tank is mint! What a brilliant product

      Same experience as you. I found my 1JZ vvti really responsive down low, tyre frying performance, but as soon as I'd hit 15psi you could see the boost winding back and there was no top end. Really disappointing but easily fixed with upgrades.

      @@jrbuch Yeah, considering the stock twins on the non VVTI were only a little smaller than the ct15 on the vvti it really shows how undersized it is for high rpm boost. The G30 they are throwing on this will be a heap more fun!

      @@lockjawjak I fitted highflowed CT12's to my 1JZ vvti and it now makes 550whp, bit of mixing and matching but it's come out great. Lots of expertise from Golbeys, Munro racing turbos to get them to work though.
      Agreed, the G30 they'll fit will be streets ahead of what is currently on there.

    That "2 cylinder" is a 6 cylinder GR Supra B58 header for the earlier model 2 port heads.
