Lexus ISF - C1 Tokyo Expwy night cruise *POV*
Some video game cruising at night on Tokyo expressway (Shutoko) C1 loop with Lexus IS-F (5.0 V8).
In this vid, setup is:
Custom axleback exhaust, Blitz Intake, MiniconPRO piggyback, 3.7 diff (stock is 2.9) with Cusco Type RS 2way LSD, Tein Flex Z, all solid (metal) bushings (yeah it bangs like crazy) and some other stuff. In the meantime I did some changes, including a full straight custom mid pipe so will record that as well (if I find a way not to blow up the mic that is). Setup is a compromise between daily, drift and grip.
Even though it's just cruising, have in mind that the car is already traveling at least twice the speed limit most of the time. But it doesn't matter since it's a video game anyway.
Using gimbal cam DJI Osmo Pocket (makes everything look slow). Worst camera I ever had but I'm stuck with it for now. Additional mic on the exhaust. No engine bay mic so not much of glorious intake noise is heard.
How much interest this video gets will greatly affect whether I will be doing more of these so if you like this kind of stuff, now is the time to share and all that.

Top 5 best rev limiters in a car ever. Majestic af.
What steering wheel adapter are you using? I also own a 2IS, and all I can find are NRG products. Do you have a Works Bell adapter?
I was planning to make a video on that but never got around to (still in the queue). As you noticed, there aren't many 2is specific boss kits but many other Toyota stuff will fit, like GT86 / BRZ, some Prius, bunch of JDM options like Crown, MarkX etc. I'm using Daikei Steel BOSS S-725 which I just slightly modified to fit a factory padle shifters. I guess any brand for GT86 / BRZ and cross compatible cars will work, depending what's easiest to score locally for you. Have in mind that you need 2 resistors to cancel airbag light, in case you only get 1 in the kit.
Why did you do over reb?
How do you mean?
love the way the original 2UR-GSE sounds in the ISF.
Yeah, really like the intake growl on stock ISF-s! As soon as you touch the exhaust, it overpowers the intake and you kinda loose that...
what has been done to the exhaust?
This was just a custom axleback in this vid, from stock Y pipe to back (rear mufflers are basically empty so they amplify the sound). Stock mid pipe with 2nd cats, all stock. The mic is on the tips so it sounds louder than it was in the car. I've did couple of my own exhaust setups since and will hopefully make some video on that.
@@code111japan thank you! I want to order myself a new titanium exhaust system, but in Russia we have a problem with this. due to sanctions
@@MoreLone77 Depends what kind of sound you are looking for, but in my opinion most available exhausts for this car don't have the sound I want since they are all either xpipe or ypipe.
Love this! Great video but you definitely do NOT have to save our ears.
I most definitely had to, trust me lol. Unfortunately, the way my valves in exhaust were setup at the time, it would create very loud hissing noise at higher RPM, plus with mic being right at the tips, sound would simply blow up every time I punch it. Had no choice but to kill those parts of vid... Since the exhaust tips are fake and mufflers I had didn't sit perfectly, that would also hiss quite a bit as the exhaust gases hit the tips. Anyway, I don't have these issues anymore and since I've been making couple of my own exhaust setups in past few months, hopefully I will make some new vids. Now on the other hand, car is hella loud so will be challenging to record it in any RPM range lol.
It sounds so good. Trying to find a nice ISF currently.
They are getting hard to find but it greatly depends where you live...
@@code111japan I live up in Aomori-ken currently. I think I need to take a trip to Tokyo and look around a little bit.
@@misawajason Oh, if you're in Japan, there are still good deals to be found for a "steal" around here. I bought this one in Osaka. People run away from these cars due to high road tax but that's a small price to pay for this awesomeness of a car!
@@code111japan Yeah, the road tax issue makes sense. Just a small price to pay for the fun though. I'm still looking. Found two that I'm interested in. We'll see how it goes.
Need to run at 4000 rpm or higher
That's already some serious speed for these speed limits here :p
I live in Canada and we get a lot of jdm ISF’s here and I really don’t want to be driving a right hand drive car in a country made for left hand drive cars but dam it’s so hard to find a left hand drive I might just have to get the jdm
I feel you. I can't imagine it either back home in Europe. On the other hand, I think I would actually benefit from LHD in Japan as well since you generally do waaay less overtaking here on back roads (mostly forbidden everywhere). And on the other hand, in cities and such where there are 4 lanes or more, people just hog the right lane all the time with left lane being empty so I always end up leaning to passenger seat to see if it's good to go. When I was in the marked for F there was one LHD here but it was in Hokkaido which is far from Tokyo and kinda pricey. Either way, I sure hope you find one but I also hope not much more of these get exported from here since there is pretty much no cool cars left anymore in Japan :p. Everything is already exported and what's left is unobtainable. These are still a well kept secret.
Your car sounds absolutely incredible. Damn.
Now sounds about 3x better :P (for my taste). Been experimenting with my own exhaust setups so hopefully will make some new vids. Not quiiiiiteee there yet but it's almost what I was looking for.
I tried to remove my water pump and tensioner. I didnt know i had to set engine to tdc first, plus i dont know how. I unbolted the water pump but i wasnt able to create enough slack to remove the water pump and now the pump is stuck around the chain and wont move. What do i do now??
Bro what do you have done to your isf? That first pull was Crazy!
"Setup" is in the description but nothing too much really. These are quick cars from the factory!
@@code111japan Thanks ima look into it 💪🏾. Also I own a 2012 isf as well.
How is the 3.7 dif compared to the stock 2.9 ?
Honestly it depends where you are and how you use the car. It definitely wakes up the car. It makes perfect sense for Japan since traffic / roads are slower here and I personally almost always use "back roads". Might be tad too short if you're all the time using highways and are used to stock diff.
Crazy you're saying that this camera is bad... if anything.... it's shockingly good... like really good lol. Never seen a camera used in such videos that is this clear and not choppy and grainy like most other cameras at night
My "beef" with this camera is moslty hardware and construction related. After only few months of barely any use it just started throwing gimbal error and you can't start it. Paperweight. After playing with it for a bit I've found a way around it where I kinda press the gimbal mid moving and give some resistance on startup sequence but it's annoying because I can't get it right each time. Technically would need to replace whole gimbal unit, if it even exists separately. Camera was quite pricey when it got out and on top of that, no wifi or anything included, need to buy every little module separately. Screen is so tiny you have no idea what you are shooting... Often it ends up way out of focus and just keeps shooting that way and you have no way of knowing it. Battery also degraded fairly quickly and I'm generally "kind" on the batteries. Touch screen is 50% of time just completely unresponsive and so on. But I agree, image does have a interesting look and it's a great base footage. It does make driving look way slower and too smooth in my opinion though. Way more suited for walking and such.
Show us what the isf looks like outsdie
You can check it on my insta @code111japan
d bag getting his jollies
As a JDM ISF owner from Scotland this was a great video. Can't wait to visit Japan one day, looks such a cool place to drive. Also great sounding exhaust!
You should definitely visit! And now is the perfect time with the yen being so weak etc, But as far as driving goes, no, it's not really, it's one of the worst places to drive lol (don't get fooled by a small loop around Shutoko in a very specific hour, these are not your usual roads and conditions). As for exhaust, setup I currently have (straight mid pipe) sounds even better and I am making my own true dual exhaust as we speak (got tired of trying to find someone to do it here). Will record both at one point, but I don't think any time soon. It's a hassle with cameras and mics and everythig haha.
@@code111japan Thank you for the reply! I love walking, exploring on foot and don't mind public transport so Japan is still high on the list!
@@cricket_v8 Honestly I still haven't got tired of walking (or biking) and exploring after 7 years here lol. You will enjoy it!
Best roads to drive on, at least in Osaka were A1. Guess Tokyo would be the same. Smooth as!!
I have a 13 I SF and ultrasonic blue with Hayward and Scott exhaust I’d love to jump to a 3.7 diff but I love the MPG I get out of the car right now…
In my driving scenarios there is really no difference. It's a gas hog either way lol. But if you do open roads and highways a lot then it would definitely be a bit too much. Roads in Japan are just extremely slow so I can get by with it lol. It certainly woket he car up altough for normal roads (so not Japan lol) I think 2.9 is very well suited for this car. I'm also on 18" s have in mind. Btw, which H&S do you have? No crossover or xpipe version? No 2nd cats?
@@code111japan from what I can see, it has a crossover back near the rear end, And I have secondary cats deleted
@@timbrown9731 Why I hate youtube.. Just spend like 10 min writting a reply and then it disappears lol. Anyway, if you're talking about that area where pipes touch, that's not a crossover but just a "reinforcement". If you don't have a X-Pipe then it has no crossover. Is it raspy and do you have any sound clips of it? Few days ago I did a similar setup. Been looking for someone to do it, got tired of it after half a year and just fabed it up on my own (Japan doesn't have exhaust shops). Full straight with no crossover from primary cats, onto 2 small resonators at the diff area (from Xforce Varex exhaust as I've used it as a base) and joining my existing straight through mufflers. From idle to 2000rpm it's loud but po*rn. Anything more and it rasps and claps horribly lol. So I've added H-Pipe in the area inspired by CCSR exhaust and straightened some of the bends to make it smoother. Rasp is completely gone up until around 5000rpm. Tone is still very muscly, particularly interesting around 2000-3000rpm area, but... It lost the true dual growl from idle to 2000rpm and above 5000 when it rasps it still RASPS . So now I'm thinking about either adding secondary cats and removing H-Pipe or adding 2 small resonators. I've watched every single H&S ISF video probably a million times by now but every car is different so if you have a sound clip and pic of the system, that would be great!
@@code111japan good question it’s the loudest system they have, my friend owned the car I just bought it about 4 months ago..
That's a pretty expensive but great sounding exhaust. I know a 2012 owner who has one. My 2013 is stock with an HPS intake and an aFe drop in filter. Original owner too.
Normal was 2.9, right? 3.7 puts a lot of emphasis on acceleration♪
Yes, it's 2.9. I think 3.7 is best suited for Japan.

How do you mean? As you can see, it has Japanese license plate on the left, german one is fake. Some people do it for the "cool" factor.
@@code111japan Oh yeah I see it now. There is the sticker on the front missing that we get when registering a car. I thought it was some some guy who imported his car to Japan. Too bad. It would have been really cool if you could do that.
Hi my friend like your color Can you give me the code of the color
Sure, 8T7 Cobalt Blue (from Toyota Aqua and some other Toyotas)
Do you have to set everything to TDC before repair, or is that just in case you end up having to replace the time chain, tensioners and guides?
I believe I mentioned it in the video but it was a long while since I've actually watched it 😅. Yes, you should and it'd tricky to know if you're in TDC without access to cams or removing cyl#1 spark plug. It's 50-50 chance if you are doing it while guessing.
