You have the right to de disheartening about your favorite series. I was disappointed with nrs gameplay and story on mk1. My advice, reboot the story again. Refresh and make it a classic there were some elements of mk1 that was okay. Just made wrong
man ever since they took away the krypt and replace it with invasion I'm not having too munch fun. also everytime I play invasion and someone finds a great way for you to upgrade your characters levels faster they always make it harder to do so next season and I think they should stop doing that so we can all finally reach level 35 with the kombat characters and level 15 with kameos

MK1 NEEDS: Friendships, more brutalities, stage fatalities, more intro/outros, more cameo brutalities, more costumes not just different shaders, pretty much…MORE. Stop nerfing people and buff lower tier characters and cameos.

Also, I agree Friendships & Stage Fatalities should be added in MK 1. If there is anything I hate about MK1 is the DLC release schedule and the cash grabs for skins.

It is weird not being there. It's been a staple of the franchise and the "Shrine" system they put in the game is a joke.
MK11's 3rd person krypt was the blueprint for a new konquest mode where we could've traveled all the realms. Big missed opportunity.

Game is still better even when it wasn’t In it’s prime. Game had so much like secret fights (that where literally secret) secret towers, events, moves, brutality’s, stage fatalities, friendships, mercy’s, extreme amount of customisation like intros, outtros, skins, gear, move sets, ability’s, etc. and the krypt was fun Bec they put effort and time into the game

Yeah sadly I've not had fun since mk9 I know people love X but i just couldnt get into it mainly because i felt the butchered kung lao he was still good but he was too different from mk9 so i just didnt bother, I also really hate the way they change everything in every game I mean they've even chaged alot of signiture moves in the past few games just doesnt feel like mk anymore besides the fatalitites, and im not not even gonna get into the MTX.

I'm 43, and the same exact thing happened to me. First MK I ever stopped playing. I completed the campaign and completed a tower with Scorpion. Haven't played it since. I was so disappointed.

I miss stage fatalities, those have been a Mortal Kombat feature since the beginning.
Too be fair they were originally not in Mortal Kombat X or Mortal Kombat 11 and we’re added later. I agree these feature should be in the game from the get go though. Why NRS wants to completely scrap their game and start all over wasting all their development time and resources instead of building upon what they have like other fighting games is beyond me

I want AI versus AI online multiplayer I loved that in mk 11 bring back fractions but the DLCs are way too far in between I get burned out faster in MK 1 then I do call of duty

Lack of single-player options and lack of content. Same as you I played all MKs, MKX came out ditched MK9 for sometime, when MK11ditched MKX too, MK1 came out and somehow I find myself going back to all the past games and this new addition while playing MK11. It's weird. I just wished they had more options for single players and less monetization(unlocking skins feels weird because the skins are just garbage and the good ones require money). I wish that we had more options for certain character moves and gameplay and just want this game to live up to the hype promised as well as release multiple parts or multiple new modes to bring it back to life.
I literally played the story and then finished the first season against scorpion then literally deleted it off my console🤣

It might have been slower however, there were counters to this and that and this is what does this and this is what does that. I loved it. The game was really tight gameplay wise. And even then, you can you can do some crazy stuff. God I miss that game.

I've gone back to MKX, I2, and even MK11 to have fun before playing MK1.
I've recently tried to play MK1 and bro I just can't... Game feels soulless.
I've watched countless amounts of SF6 and Tekken 8 tourneys before even thinking about watching a MK1 event. I've gone back and watched Supers old MKX and I2 videos before even thinking about watching BRAND NEW MK1 DLC character videos...

As long as I have mk9, 2 controllers, and my ps3 I'm fine. That still remains my favorite NRS game by a huge margin. A remaster of that game with good online and minor rebalances/bug fixes would be the perfect MK for me
mk9 meta is unparalleled. i know the remaster will eventually come out, I just dont know when. Hopefully before I have grandkids

They need to fix krossplay, add KOTH, add another game mode other then boring invasions maybe some fun mini game, 1v1 mode, proper buffs for kameos, speed up the DLC and Story expansion

Also buff all the bad and mid characters like crazy so they can function well in a 1 v 1 mode
@@TheSpeedfoeverthey shouldn't rush the story mode, I agree. but with the delay of peacemaker that happened, we will wait a pretty long time for the rest of the characters. especially since there may be more characters coming due to aftermath 2. just feels like they didn't really do the math or didn't expect the player base to fall off.

My sister and I love fighting games, we debated for so long between buying MK 1, Tekken 8 or SF 6.
We ultimately went with MK 1 Premium Edition… about 30-ish hours invested and we never touched it again.
We completed the main story and most of the character endings, the kameo system was fun since it reminded us of our favorite game Tekken Tag Tournament 2, but overall the game felt somewhat empty and even a bit unpolished. We still can’t quite figure out what it is, but something about MK1 feels wrong/missing.
Buy Tekken 8 or street fighter 6 much better games

Mk1 was that, just look at all the changes mk characters have that is unnecessary:
Rain having a staff, he was supposed to be Aquaman
Shao Kahn with ax was supposed to be Ares and so on......

Every game should feel like a step forward, and this one to me feels like they took 1 big step forward with gameplay.....then took like 10 steps back with everything else. Quality of life features, pinning your moves on screen (came late), crossplay (not fully in yet 6 months later), customization (less gear options, intros/outros), no new brutalities, no stage brutalities (mk11 had them), no stage fatalities (mkx had them), no friendships (mk11 added them a year later or so) loadouts for your outfits(mk11 had 5, mk1 has one and random), practice modes while online, lack of skins (kameos and DLC don't get seasonal skins), lacking and lazy skins (just color palette swaps), monetizing skins/fatalities are skummy. Even then, they're lazy with that. Very little skins in store, lots of cycling items.They have SO MANY options for skins from previous games, missed opportunities. Skins you grind for in Invasions/kombat league COME TO THE STORE. So why grind when you can buy it? Makes the skins not special. The shrine this season had HALF of the items from previous seasons. No one has mentions that, normally takes around 90k but this time it was like 45k. And there's more I just can't think of it....just TOO many. I also hope they're cooking some MAJOR changes or this game a goner.
Stage fatalities are boring,how many times are a pit of spikes,or the Dead Pool acid can be used over and over again?
To further add to my list. The gear pieces, brutalities, 2 types of taunts (end of round and during the match), and fatalities have labels on them COMMON. Implying that there are RARE, LEGENDARY, ETC. types of them right??? I'm excluding the gear since they add millions of color palettes of the same gear, but in 6 months ( Half of a YEAR) they have ONLY added 3 Fatalities..... No brutalities, no taunts, NOTHING. So HOW are we getting these new items? Not in invasions, not in towers, not in kombat league, not in the store (except for the 3 fatalities) SO WHERE??? They added this system and are doing NOTHING with it. If the next big update doesn't change this downward trajectory...like I said, this game is done. Ed Boon? More like Ed Doomed.

@@galvinstanley3235: Stage fatalities are not boring if they apply their creativity. They can provide stage fatality to any stage if they want. Repetition of dead pool, pit etc is not necessary.

Yes I have commented on some of these replies, but I have to. I figured it out. It really doesn’t matter what y’all want in the next installment or future games of Mortal Kombat. Yall will just cry and complain that they didn’t do this or didn’t do that. At this point, why even make mortal kombat anymore? Y’all are never happy no matter what they do and I’m honestly tired of responding to constant complainers. I truly believe that MK needs to be permanently gone because of the constant negativity. The continuity of 2D fighting games like 2K or COD same thing but in this case we have to wait YEARS. What’s wrong with saying what id prefer? @@MaddyKahn no it’s not. Walk speeds are the same dash block is in both games and the frame data shows it’s the same. Stand 1s are 7 and 8 frames for characters in both games so please explain how it’s faster

I feel like the move list is too small and limits the players to do the same combos with slight variations depending on what kameo you pick. But essentially your just doing the same combo string over and over again

Me and friends stopped ages ago as we couldn't join same online king of the hill. We want to fight others as well as each other.
I actually like mk1 invasions mode but I think what NRS should do to make mk1 better is fixing the connection when players try to online battle adding test your might and sight towers buffing the low tiers characters adding 2 vs 2 etc

Because NRS want to make a picture of “support” via added later. Same happened with 11 when stage fatalities were added year later after release

That's not usually how merchandising is handled by companies, normally they just license it out to other companies that they take on most of the costs and profits. It's usually just free money for the licensor. I think what might be happening is that WBD is charging way too much for the MK license and people aren't willing to pick it up.

this is the first mk game ive been around for where ive been really into mk. i’ve played mkx, mk11, seen gameplay of basically all the older mk’s, and mk1 genuinely is so so disappointing compared to the other games. i loved the story personally, im not even a pro player, nowhere as near, i don’t even fight online, i just enjoy the story mode and like collecting skins and doing invasions and even then it’s extremely frustrating, so many little things that could’ve been added or avoided that just make the game feel so bland compared to mk11. like the build-up to mk1 and the release felt so dry and lacklustre, breaks my heart because this has genuinely became my favourite game series, and my favourite character is in it ): really scared for the future of mk, genuinely clinging onto hope that it will be ok in the end.

A couple of problems with MK of late is that the music and stages are not memorable. It doesn't feel like MK. imho
The stages are far better than what we had in mk11, only a few of those I liked and even less in mkx. Tbh I really don’t about the music since I listen to my own when playing
I find the stages in this game to be overly complicated and overloaded with details. It would seem that this is good, but in reality it turns out that it is not. The characters get lost and seem insignificant against such a complex background. It seems to me that this is partly why many people complain that the game has no soul and that something doesn’t touch people in this game.

No stage fatalities, no Mercy, no friendships, no babalities, nothing to do outside of ranked, and the worst part is there's no lobbies so I can't tell what KOTH sessions have the best connection until after I get put in one
idk if it's just me but i literally have so much difficulty finding a game. it's always an error has caused you to disconnect from the session or the game session has ended. it's actually so fucking frustrating

Hey UnCaged, I'm a huge MK guy and found your content because of it. Since then, I've watched your stuff and really enjoyed your content. I just wanted to say thanks for posting this vid, I'm someone who's pretty disappointed with MK1 and how it's been handled, most notably, the micro transactions and how shady it feels. It's great to have someone influential in the MK community post about this and be the voice of the fans because hopefully, in that way, they'll listen. Mk9 and MkX are still the best modern MK games overall imo.
what i really disliked and made me not play the game so much was the amount of time you had to put in and play just for kosmetics for a single character, i get that you need to learn and play with them but the little amount of xp you get for both your character and the kameo. just really exhausting and it’s really what demotivated me for playing the game so much now
Shoutout to you for speaking up about all this! I personally feel that the game just doesn’t connect with players the way that other games have. There is SO MUCH grinding that the game has for SO LITTLE rewards. Everything that would be worth grinding for is locked behind a micro transaction. Almost everything you can unlock is just a shader for a skin you probably already have and the grind itself isn’t very fun. Overall I definitely feel that’s there’s WB greed and the game puts all the focus into the things that matter the least

@@walterwhite1 in my opinion, Deception was the high point in terms of story telling. MK9 was a great reboot also. The potential only being ruined by 11's release. My favorite just so happens to not be canon: Shaolin Monks.

I'm having a hard time relating with the whole community. I think it's the best MK game so far, I'm having a lot of fun in idle gameplay against CPU, I loved everything and each character they've released so far and I don't mind if release dates get postponed and am looking forward to anything that's to come in the future.

@@woo_shynen8805 i kinda get that but also I struggle to relate. I'm almost at 200h playtime and I neither play pvp nor with friends. Just pve invasion and towers and I feel like I could do this forever. Every season I choose a new character to main, learn and master as good as I can and yeah idk, that's how I be chillin about an hour every evening. It's still more than MK was just some years ago and I don't know where all the expectations of the community come from and how they are not met with what we got.

The formula peaked with variations in MKX. It made your one character in MK1 feel like three with distinct visual cues for which variation was utilized.
I think the game needs KL progression tied to characters not accounts, it would make the roster you see used in KL far more diverse as people wouldn't be afraid of deranking with their main. It also needs a whole bunch of QoL options added just to be on the same base line as other fighters.
This was basically my thoughts on the game as well, it pains me to see so much undercooked content when the gameplay is arguably the best in the series so far
I still have the itch to play it but wish there was a better reason to scratch it
If you asked me how I would improve invasions I would have less mesas maybe 3 instead of 5, make them shorter but with more variety in gameplay
I’d also have Survivor and TYM be separate modes and have unique unlocks depending on the character and difficulty
I’d also have more gear pieces per character and why not add some wacky modes, of Tekken can have Bowling and Volleyball then why can’t MK
I thought about a way to improve invasions one day lol. So basically instead of having all the mesas for one character and a bunch of palettes for everyone they could have each mesa have a skin for a specific character and palettes for that skin so 1 skins in each mesa per month for those specific characters along with plat for those skins. That way it gives everyone a break from the regular one month season for just one character to get a new skin. The mini modes I think could actually replace the practice mesa they have and then they could add more modes like motor kombat, maybe even have a hidden object one too (since the stages are pretty detailed), test your strike, test your sight. Those could all be in that one mesa and maybe you could get Krystal’s as rewards even if it’s only small amounts like 30-50 for every few rounds of the mode. I actually made a thread on Twitter on all the stuff they could use as customizable gear for each Character. A few were tricky though lol
Invasions needs to be longer not shorter but with better variety, it only took me 2 days each to complete the last 2 seasons and then it was nearly 4/5 months of nothing to do

I agree with literally everything you are saying.
For me the biggest red flag was that the DLC characters don’t even come with alternate costumes. Like that was a real wake-up call to me that just made all of these flaws really add up and I could no longer give it the benefit of the doubt.
Turning the franchise into the Chinese Avengers alienated a lot of the fan base.

I rather be optimist and think that they are actually working on the game to refresh it , add more content and give players what they ask for , but i don't know if they are , WB recently has been on a L streak we gonna have to wait 4 more months to see what they'll do with the game , i love this Frenchies i hope they save it .
This was the first MK game since MK 9 I have no interest in. I played the first 2 Way back in the day, played the reboot then 10 and 11. I hope Neatherealm can recover but they have really alienated a lot of their loyal fanbase

Mortal Kombat needs an Online Open World style ala WoW mechanics where you can create your own character as a human, ninja, sorcerer, tarkatan etc and travel and explore different realms and raise stats and enter tournaments all while participating in online battles. Thank me later

The survive parts in invasions bring the game to a grinding halt…get it “grinding” cause that’s what mk1 is
Sad part is that I have more retro MK merch from MK1 - MK trilogy than the NRS studios era. MK11 had lots of figurines and such but I have yet to seen something as basic as an MKX, MK11 or MK1 switch case or even a lanyard. I literally have to pirate MK merch from aliexpress.
The main reason it sucks is because invasion mode sucks, there is only stuff to do offline for 1/2 days max when they release a new season which was meant to be monthly, but now in the last 4/5 months we have had only 2 seasons with god awful skins as rewards, the overall costume design this season has been poor, so that gives little incentive to play, and now there is 30 days until the next update with absolutely nothing to do…
That and the long waiting time between getting dlc and kameos that no one really cares about, I mean congratulations to the 4 people who are excited for Janet cage but it’s tumbleweeds for most of us…
Also because the items in the premium store suck it gives no reason to spend time grinding and levelling up characters for the in game dragon crystals…
When the announcement trailer dropped and it said the game was dropping a few months later, to me, that was a red flag. It felt rushed.

I really enjoy Tekken 8. After grinding Peacemaker and Millena Season 4 skin, I returned to my Tekken 8 routine. The color palettes are more on Havik instead of Mileena.
Mortal Kombat always gets me hyped and I usually pre-order but once I play it and get through the story and train 1 character then I get bored and leave it
