Region of Peel does a great job maintaining services such as water/waste water and many other services. I hope their employees will still serve these cities as they served in the past.

Those of us who remember when there was no Regional government also know the service they provided far exceeded the city/town service. This is Ford's move to get around the politics so his buddies can develop without controls on them.

No this is a good thing. Ive lived in Mississauga for 24 years and we’ve been trying to be our own jurisdiction for ages. We’ve been subsidizing the rest of peel for years even though they’ve become wealthy in their own right. Brampton is full of millionaire homes like Mississauga and has a better transit system. Our infrastructure is shit and our transit is worse, we’ll actually be able to use our own tax dollars for once to make meaningful changes. Hopefully 🙏

This was always Mississauga’s view for those that are new.
All our activity and business and ppl paying taxes went to develop brampton which was mostly farmland.
But the reality is these scum politicians who don’t work and live lavishly off our taxes will just take more for themselves and friends.

@@davidshaw1995 where? Not in most places you cant. If you live in a suburb it takes hours to get to the nearest grocery store by foot. Most places cant be walked to in 15 minutes which is the whole damn point of changing zoning to do this. You really wouldn’t want all of most conveniences in the same area as you? Parks, groceries stores, clothing, maybe even your job be a short walk or even shorter drive away?
Cities are built tight but separate, with industries and residential areas spread so far. It creates traffic problems on the highways and housing issues, not to mention the elderly who get basically stuck inside having to get everything brought to them. If you want the rural life live outside the city, by all means. But if you live in the city you probably dont want to go farther if you could help it
