Fabulous reaction! This is reminescent of 80´s synthesizers, 80´s bass players (Abe Laboriel) 80´s vocals (Toto) and all of a sudden I hear Michael Jackson vocal influence! I am so proud of this group! (Swede here). Three boys in Stockholm played music together in highschool, went on to study music together at the Royal Academy of Music, got discovered by Q in 2012, who sent them on a tour with David Foster to Asia and has produced and managed them since then!. We love Dirty Loops! I am now a subscriber. You know your stuff!
@@BeN-bn5yb Oh, they are a band alright, just not a pop band (distantly relative). I agree with Javier, they are in another league....today. Back in the 80´s you could hear bands like this. Elements of jazz, rock and pop....fusion fest! We are literally bursting at the seams over here in Sweden...so proud!💙💛
Thanks for your detailed reaction to this band, which was similar to my first listen of them. It's obvious that each of them is a supremely talented musician. That coupled with the exceptional vocal ability of the keyboardist, and if that's not enough, they have the vision and ability to combine (arrange) several different genres (pop, funk, classical and gospel) into one song and have you craving for more at the end.
Finally it's back! Of all the different reaction videos to this song, this is by far my favourite. You're bringing up more of the musical part of it, the song structure and influences, makes it so much more interesting. And yes, they are THAT good. Would love it if you made a reaction to their music video of "Work Shit Out", it is just as amazing.
Good review! Like you are informed and specific. It makes it interesting. I am proud of these guys living close to my location hete in Stockholm. They all have deep knowledge in music theory since studying music here in Stockholm. Thank you!
Thank you thank you, Dave, for such an amazing reaction video. This is one of my favorite songs, but so many react videos just make exclamatory statements without substance. I'm impressed that you can just throw in a comment here and there and still save substance for your paused analysis. Great job!
Nice reaction video. Most people who do this song are so blown away they have no words. You made sense of it and I can relate to what you're saying...nice! BTW, I'd love to see your wife's reaction to this song!
Dave, you have analyzed this song better than anyone! These guys are from outer space with their influences and creativity! I'm not a religious man, but I want to attend some Black churches and hear the passion of the gospel singers. I hired 3 amazing gospel singers for my "Yuppie Rap" video chorus in 1989.
This is a really great insightful reaction and I love seeing the input other musicians offer! Very entertaining and smart. That being said, this video def has big “I can’t wake up the baby” energy 😂
Great reaction video to a great band and song. Loved your observations and comments. Every aspect of this effort excelled. Musicianship, incredible energy, dynamite arrangement and production. The singing, drums, the bass what can I say. One of the highest energy best music videos I've seen in years.
Your face bro, at 3.40, gets me every time 😅🤣 yes, I’ve watched this vid more than once…. Love your comments too, super interesting and eye/ear opening! 🔥 That song is just pure greatness! 🔥 And I’d love some more DL reactions, -unless you’ve listened already to all of their stuff, that is…. :D
I talked to Aron almost on a daily basis a few years ago and I remeber he was into Toto and Sting. I wasn't, we had no common ground in music but I admired him and still do.
It's not that strange that this song has a gospel choir in the backround cause one of the guys has his roots/background in the church. These guys are uber musical!!!
I agree, Dave. Great review. Thank you. Polystylism, blending all of those contemporary elements, but never losing the energy with that brilliant bottom sound holding it all together. I'd bet that Quincy Jones is a strong influence in the arrangement, particularly the voices. Bit of Manhattan Transfer. George Duke and Billy Cobham, also?
You got it so good in a short time and your happiness of this song made me happy too. Would be nice if you wife would to a reaction too. In the masterpiece you have so much going on of genres blended so perfect. The band is too tight, Henric on base and Aron on drums makes 75% of this band on the icing of the cake is Jonahs singing and keyboard. Thanks for your reaction.
lol I was thinking your "Computer Love" rendition was NOTHING like the Kraftwerk song.....had to go check...theres a Zapp & Roger song of the same name!
First this time 😎 🤘 also my first time listening to theses guys. I have to give credit where credit is due - they are talented and creative. I mostly enjoyed it, some elements I didn't enjoy so much ( just my opinion )... but I did enjoy it mostly... your reaction is what I appreciated 😏
@@tosvus Hey, Max Martin "makes the music life a little better" for a LOT of people. Just not you (or me, by the way). You sound like the progressive snobs back in the 70´s who literally hated Abba...and look how that turned out! ;)
@@tosvus No worries...no comment could ruin my life. Good that you love Abba, so do I. But here in Sweden it took them a decade to get respect and admiration, but I guess the expression "you are never a prophet in your own land" applies to them. Now they are legendary.
Love your reaction, even if you're music theory analysis was totally wrong, well not totally, but it's real close. Take it from me, a composer who gets pissed off when people act they know theory, but they don't, they really don't...and it's sad...
My background is in Jazz. I wouldn’t say I’m completely ignorant. In the end, it’s what the user takes from the song, and that can differ for many people.
Hey composer, it's modern Pop music performed by some very talented musicians. I'm pretty sure Charles Ives wasn't totally fluant in music theory, but he was an artist and got it done! I thought Dave's reaction was sincere and I'm cool with that. By the way, did you like the song?
