Terrific episode, thank you to you and your guest. I first got interested in the Thelma Todd case about 10 years ago after watching the documentary series "America's 60 greatest Unsolved mysteries and crimes", an absolutely fascinating mystery. More people should do podcasts about it, good stuff! 👏🏻😀
I remember when Loni Anderson portrayed her on television in a t.v. movie called Hot Toddy. So sad that she was horribly murdered and her killer was never brought to justice. What a travesty.
Thanks for the info, that's really surprising. I would have thought that the building would have changed in the past 80-85 years, crazy to think it still looks the same.
I read this book a few years ago and found it absolutely fascinating. The amount of detail was mind boggling but it never hindered the narrative. I’ve been interested in this case for a long time and the book put it all in perspective for me. I’ve come to the conclusion that Thelma’s death was a terrible accident, set in motion by Roland West’s jealousy and need to control her. Ultimately very sad. She was such a vivacious actor and, reading this book, a sweet and decent human being.
She wasn't in the driving seat, she was in the passenger seat, so if thats the case why did t she go out of the passenger side. And you don't get broken ribs by carbon monoxide.
So listening, was it police or sheriff? Easily checked. Yes, Malibu Outpost of the Los Angeles county Sheriff's was open in 1934. But 17531 Posetano Rd, Castellamarre (now more commonly known as Pacific Palisades) would be the West LA division of LAPD. Jornalists, or random rumor mongerers who would claim Sheriffs responded or investigated, didn't understand jurisdiction boundaries.
Why was the car not running, but there was petrol in the tank but with a flat battery. Doesn't make sense. If the car was started, it should have charged the battery, so why was it flat. And if the car was running then why didn't it run out of petrol.. the only way the battery would run flat if the car had been in start up mode before cranking the enginel.
@@MostNotorious you come across as being very respectful and truly interested in what your guests have to say, and I love the fact that you never talk over them, or try to steal their thunder as it were

Very interesting. Cleared a lot of rumors and misconceptions. Well done 👍
Sadly, Hot Toddy's demise may be one of those cases that is never solved. R.I.P. Thelma Todd.
Yes! That is usually bcuz the "authorities" are in on it!
@@mr.blackhawk142 What authorities? Enough with this crackpot paranoia.

Movie was tasteless ficiton.
All the buildings are still there the roadside cafe the garage looks like no time past the garage has the same door it's like it happened yesterday

Yeah! I checked Street View also! TBH, I was surprised that 'sidewalk cafe' building is still there, and almost exactly how it looked in the 30s!

"An 'accident', yeah that's it, that's the ticket, an 'accident'!" And these lamebrains are actually allowed to breed!
@camsnow, do you believe in Santa Claus too???
Speculation is all anyone has at this time
I read that she had a broken nose and some cracked ribs, and her throat was ruptured from an exhaust hose being forced down her throat.
So why then did he WEST admit it on his death bed??
I don't think Kenneth Anger wrote a true word in his life.
Anger was the most despicable liar in the entire field of documenting Hollywood history.
Sadly many still believe his stories. Kenneth Anger admitted later that he viciously lied for not making stardom in Hollywood and for being ridiculed.

Roland sounds like a real creep.
read up on her one forensic pathologist said her case seemed lil signs point to domestic violence covered if the rumors injury to her body is true

yes it is all explainable except for the fact that her face was bruised and a broken nose and she had broken ribs
She didn't if you read the autopsy. She had those injuries from a previous car accident but not when she died.
This dude laughs too much for my liking!!
You sound so uncomfortable interacting with your guests.
Wow, thank you! I try hard to be uncomfortable, so I appreciate you noticing.

It wasn't murder or suicide. Investigators concluded that her death was a tragic accident.

Roland West confessed to the murder
