  • In this video, I show you how to install a probe port on a pre 2014 Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker using a hole saw. These grommet can also be easily installed on a Pit Barrel Cooker, Weber Kettle or any offset that is 1/8" in thick or less.

Much appreciated that’s my next mod. Now I’m off to Lowe’s to get the holesaw bit.

Thanks RaleighSmoke! I have a new WSM but couldn't figure out how to get the port on the smoker. The suggestion to use a dab of dish liquid did the trick.

Nicely done. I have always used a step bit - might have to try a holesaw next time

Thanks! The hole saw is definitely way easier. Cheaper than buying a step bit too!

I just did this to my wsm and my 22" kettle and it went pretty ok. That holesaw still took a while to cut through.

Super helpful! Where do you buy the grommet?

The link might be in the information section. If not, you can find the pair on Amazon for $10-12

Does this work only for wires or a probe thermometer would fit in the grommet?

Is that a wood or a metal bit?

    • @RaleighSmoke

Both, but pobably not meant for heavy use.

@@RaleighSmoke I'll get a name & model # of the stuff we use for boiler flues in case the RTV craps out on the offset.

@@joeselfridge1205 - Cool! I put some on and it seems to be holding for now. I’ll put my update and first cook out when I get a chance

@@RaleighSmoke Talked to the guys and they steered me away from the boiler stuff. This is what we use in kitchens, it is safe around food.
