Besides having a baby and our entire family visiting 😅 I just want to go to the beach, eat ice cream & watermelon, and read vintage nancy drew mystery novels!
I don’t really like summer 😅 the heat is killing me , the only thing I love is the peaches 🍑 and the laundry drying in a heartbeat. I’m not travelling this summer, living near Paris I’m looking forward to visiting or re visit museums ( Le Louvre, Carnavalet…ect) and eating ice cream 🍦😋
I also have to say Call Me By Your Name for summer book/movie. The peaches and apricots, the heat, the lazyness of the days, the focus on simple things.
Whether you like Cliff Richard or not, Summer Holiday, made in 1963, is a retro, fun watch, and features a red London bus! A must watch at least once in your life.
Exactly the opposite for me. Summer is super busy with so many garden planting weeding etc, house renovations, pottery making, winter wood chopping and stacking … just so busy and I don’t like heat or humidity! Winter is the best time - can always get warm but hard to get cool when outside chores to do but winter is calm and cosy and a time to rest and relax and read the books, watch movies etc. It’s my favourite time and I love winter woollen clothes much better than summer cotton and linens!
For me it is not enough that it is Swedish strawberrys, it has to be from a specific farmer - Lida. I can buy those from local stands by the road around here… 🍓🍓🍓
French fuzzy peaches and smooth nectarines. Walking around the flat with barely anything on. Crosswords in the garden shade. Outdoor screenings of romantic movies. ❤❤❤❤
Had a totally cool moment when I arrived by train at London St Pancras International, popped in to Hatchards, famous 18th century London bookstore that has an outlet there, and found Okay Days. Arrival, as ABBA said 😊
Good news!! TSUJIRI just moved to China Town; 33 Newport Ct, London WC2H 7PQ Definitely IMO the best soft serve. I'd also recommend in Victoria Park in East London; Pavilion cafe for the best vegan soft serve (depending on the flavour of the day
Hi Jenny! I have been a big fan for many years and after watching you all of this time… I was wondering if you would ever consider making a video about your hair care routine and or your products that you use? I know it’s not your normal type of video, but I am amazed at how fast your hair has grown and how healthy and gorgeous it looks long. Pus Pus! Have a great day.
I read Conversations with Friends. Very summery vibe and personalities you can hate. 🇦🇺 Another book is Looking for Albrandi. Summer, teenage angst and Italian vibes.
The lack of Astrid Lindgren in the Summer book list feels sacrilegious 😄 The Children of Noisy Village ("Wir Kinder aus Bullerbü" here in Germany) is the epitome of Summer for me
I also share this deep love for the Summer London, it’s the most charming place to be in summer months. I even intentionally don’t book any holidays during the warm season to enjoy this magical city. 🌇 By the way, a soft serve matcha ice cream place has opened in Spitafields market, but i was not impressed… 😄
My favourite summer books are the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome, mostly set in the Lake District in the 1920s. The first, Swallows and Amazons, and The Pigeon Post are the epitome of summer to me - the books are so innocent and adventurous and just capture the feeling of endless possibilities that summer held as a child. I love them so so much, words cannot express.
Watching "The Durrells in Corfu" is my summer must see! I love to water my flower gardens in the early morning and like you, I enjoy the ease of preparing easy summer dinners.
omg I love your home, your routine and your linen shirts! I also love the fact you and David enjoyed sticky Japanese summer so much 😂❤ I am from Japan and been living in London for 12yrs (19yrs UK all together) and I actually really like summer here, not too hot, not too cold, it's just comfortable😊 I used to live in a studio flat by myself and kept it simple and tidy. Then I moved in to my bf's one bed flat 8months ago, it's been tough 😅 I really miss my tidy simple home and miss having imy own space. He works from home everyday, and I will stop working soon to be home everyday too as we are expecting a baby next month ❤ I know you and D love spending time together but don't you crave your own space sometimes?? Any tips?? Btw, congrats on your books❤
Cannot agree with you more, simple pleasures of summer are the best! Having moved nearly 3000 miles into a home we bought 2019, the past three summers we’ve been content enjoying our new surroundings with views from our home and backyard of the snow capped Sierra, we feel like we’re already where we want to be. We’re only 23 miles from our favorite dog friendly beach on Lake Tahoe. So tending to our small vegetable and herb garden in early morning, a walk with our pup before it’s too hot and then about once a week, head to the beach. Having a stash of good books to reread or new ones to explore, cannot ask for a more enjoyable summer. But we did rent a cottage on the lake in September after the summer crowds are gone so we can enjoy the lake with our kayak. Plan on having some visiting family too to share our piece of summer in the mountains! Congratulations on your book! Can’t wait to read!
My summer working is busy as I’m an aviation security officer, so on my days off I will be making the most outside and love reading, as I’m expecting to receive Ok Days book this Thursday😊I’m so excited and can’t wait , my holidays it will be in October 3 weeks in Verona and Milan, wishing you and your husband a wonderful summer and please keep posting your videos as I love watching it, you’re very inspiring and I really like your style and ideas, keep well kiss kiss ❤️❤️
Last World by Christoph Ransmayr! Love it! Movies: als grande Belleza. And i agree on the strawberry thing. A colleague of mine always said: people who are not patient enough to wait for (german) strawberries, don‘t deserve summer.
For me it is strawberries, watermelon, baby new potatoes with dill (it is a must), linen dressess. I read your french book recommendation two summers ago and could not imagine reading it at a different time of the year. I have winter books as well. Cannot wait to come back from holidays to UK this Sat and hopefully my copy of OK Days will be waiting for me🍓🍉🧡 🌞📚
Strawberries - same here! only the Polish ones are the right ones! We get imported ones from Spain and they can be delish, but I always wait for my local ones, as they are king!
OMG your summer movie list overlaps with mine. I have to watch your Swedish recommendation. My favorite summer books are Prodigal Summer (Barbara Kingsolver) and Waltzing The Cat (Pam Houston). Favorite beverage is homemade kombucha… berries of some sort and lime.
The Magus. Yes, very strange book, but I loved it. Need to re-read. John Fowles...can't think of him without thinking of The Collector. His fIrst and most popular book, but beyond disturbing. Summer move recommendation - Enchanted April. Have you seen it? Two Englishwomen intent on escaping their drab lives rent a villa on the Italian Riviera. The surroundings are lush and green, sunlight glinting on the water.....as one of the characters says "the mind slips sideways in a place like this".....
The summer book is so nostalgic to me! Whenever I read it I feel like I am reading myself into my childhood, while always noticing new details and cute phrases 🥰
Summer is my season! I'm in my element! I live on an island in the Pacific Northwest (the USA) and this video gives me island vibes even though much of the imagery was in the city. A visual treat! Thank you for the reminder that summers should be spent lounging, lazing about, and eating strawberries. ❤
Still awaiting for "Okay Days" to be available in the states! My favorite films summer and year-round are: Pride and Prejudice, Amelie, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Shoplifters
Two books i always relate with summer are The Saylor from Gibraltar, by Marguerite Duras, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Perfect to read on the beach.
Summer is just too scorching in Taiwan 😅however, we have all kinds of mangoes and pineapples during summertime! Juicy, sweet, fragrant, mouthwatering fruits are must try here
London is such a handsome boy ( i used to live there so many years ago and you have just allowed me to reset my mindset in relation to city of London. ) Congratulations on seeing your book in brick n mortar . cant imagine the experience! wishing you tons of all you wish
I read Bonjour tristesse for the first time last summer; thanks to your hype about it! And I’m thinking I might also join you in rereading it this summer 🥰 Hello from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
🖤 your video, trips footage are awesome, also the David interventions, you are a great couple. The french vintage book 🗼📗Bonjour Tristesse is the best election for summer☀️. I have the same feeling about watermelon🍉, linen dresses 👗
Largely the same foods for me as a Finlandssvensk; (Finnish 😁) strawberries, (Finnish) new potatoes with dill, sill & gravlax, smörstekta mujkor, ice cream and fresh peas from the market.... Other summery things: rowing on the lake, water lilies (näckrosor!) and midsummer roses, picnics and bbq:s, swimming in the lake or the sea, cycling, reading in the hammock at the summer cottage 💕 I'm not a fan of hot weather tho so already looking forward to the crispy cool but sunny autumn days, mushroom/berry picking and colorful leaves lol 🍁
Ugh I LOVE Bonjour Tristesse! It's truly a perfect novel. I also love Ferrante's Neapolitan novels in summer, as well as Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises-summer truly is my favorite time for reading though since it's the one time of year I feel no pressure to do anything outside of enjoying the outdoors and curling up with a good book. It's funny how much the summer mentality is ingrained in us-I live in California now and rarely get time off work in the summer but this time of year always feels so special. Happy book launch and wishing you such a delightful summer!
It's summer here in Australia now 🎉 I read Bonjoir T on your recommendation last year, it was great. I love the Wind Up Bird Chronicle to read in summer x
I absolutely LIVE in linen or hemp, all year round, I have sensory processing issues and linen and hemp are the only fabric that doesn't bother me at all.
My go to Summer beach read is The Garden of Eden by Ernest Hemingway. Set in the French Riviera. The descriptions of the breezes, the beaches, the fishing and the food the characters eat is mesmerizing. 😊
Summer Crossing is a great book. The Proof of Love by Catherine Hall is my favourite summer book, partly because it’s set in a heatwave. Hoping to get to your book this summer 💚📚
I haven't seen Fried Green Tomatoes in over a decade and totally need to again. So good. I have never heard of The Magus. I shall look into it. Your handwriting is lovely. I probably said that before. Bonjour Tristesse. . another thing I need to look into.
The vibes of this video are just impeccable, and I love watching the videos in your new apartment. It just looks so you! I know you shared a few summer book recs in this video, but could you share more? I'm dying for those atmospheric reads.
In Scotland local produce is important but when it comes to strawberries people can be very competitive. Everyone believes the strawberries from their region are the tastiest. But I know the strawberries from my region are definitely the tastiest! Summer for me means dodging hoards of tourists and when I can't, giving them local knowledge to make their visit even better. I live on the coast surrounded by beautiful countryside and I know how lucky I am to live here
I've just read A perfect Vintage, by Chelsea Fagan and I feel like it might be right up your alley. Other than that I like Le Petits Chevaux de Tarquinia by Margueritte Duras, it's summer, it's french, it's long hot days and drinks, and waves and lovers.
I'm so excited for Okay Days to be out in the world at large and for novelist Jenny to be officially born! Have you/would you ever publish novels in Swedish?
Thanks for another enjoyable video. I also really liked your Tokyo video and it is a shame that some of your old uploads are not available to watch again.
Hi Jenny, I just ordered your book as a way to say thank you for all of your excellent videos. Your work has truly inspired me toward a more minimal, simpler, and more stylish lifestyle, and I appreciate it very much. The shipping to NY/USA cost as much as the book, but I'm not bitter. :) Looking forward to reading it! xoxo Melissa
Every day I’ve been checking the tracking number on my preorder of your book! 😁 It should be delivered any day now! So excited to read it; congratulations again! 👏😊❤️
For me, the most summery movie/book is Call me by your name, but this year, I've been (finally!) reading some travelling books and I've ordered Eat Pray Love, I'm looking forward for it so much❤
I've been wanting to read your book since it's come out but I'm looking on kindle and I don't see it? And do you know if your book will be in barns and noble?💕💕
If you enjoy 35 degrees and humidity, you should visit Israel in the summer. For us, it's usually too hot and we hide inside during the hot hours. As for strawberries, here it is actually a winter fruit 😊
It's so interesting how the Northern hemisphere, specifically Europe, the UK and Scandi countries romanticize summer. Here on the mid east coast of Australia it's summer for like 6 months of the year. I wouldn't be caught dead in a long sleeve shirt, linen or not. It's way too hot for that. I live in tiny shorts and crop tops only. Everyone complains constantly. To be fair, I also hate the winter. Right now I need to leave for work and it's like 3 degrees out there. Gross. If it could be Autumn all year round that'd be perfect.
If you want good weather almost all year round minus only about 3 months a year...come to Cape Town where Autumn and Spring are as green and warm as most European cities in summer 😂🎉🤩
As a pole living in Spain for a decade I just want to complain officially that spanish strawberries have no taste 😅 Spanish people just add basic plain sugar or a sweetener to them, otherwise they themselves don't eat them.
Besides having a baby and our entire family visiting 😅 I just want to go to the beach, eat ice cream & watermelon, and read vintage nancy drew mystery novels!
“Nobody puts Baby in a corner”…. My fave line from my fave film of all time. You and David have great taste in films.
LA PISCINE with Romy Schneider and Alain Delon is a good summer movie to me
I don’t really like summer 😅 the heat is killing me , the only thing I love is the peaches 🍑 and the laundry drying in a heartbeat. I’m not travelling this summer, living near Paris I’m looking forward to visiting or re visit museums ( Le Louvre, Carnavalet…ect) and eating ice cream 🍦😋
You should travel to Australia during your winter as its summer here and very warm - plenty of 35°C + days 😁
I also have to say Call Me By Your Name for summer book/movie. The peaches and apricots, the heat, the lazyness of the days, the focus on simple things.
oh yesss
Whether you like Cliff Richard or not, Summer Holiday, made in 1963, is a retro, fun watch, and features a red London bus! A must watch at least once in your life.
I love oversized clothes all year round... Now my husband's wardrobe is 80% mine! 😊
This time I planned only working ( next time hope to have a couple of weeks free time
I like apricots in June, tomatoes, watermelon at picnics.

- Ray Bradbury, Dandelion Wine

I love reading «a sky painted gold» and «under a dancing star» by Laura Wood in the summer ☀️.
French fuzzy peaches and smooth nectarines. Walking around the flat with barely anything on. Crosswords in the garden shade. Outdoor screenings of romantic movies. ❤❤❤❤
Fried Green Tomatoes! Oh my friend, I’m sooo heart-warmed to hear you and David love this. #filmfriendsforever

I would love a video about that! 🥹🫶
We have such similar taste in books!!! Would love you to do a book blog soon :)
I read Conversations with Friends. Very summery vibe and personalities you can hate.
🇦🇺 Another book is Looking for Albrandi. Summer, teenage angst and Italian vibes.
Crinkly linen shirt 🤩 My summer vibe buddy
I love lemon meringue pie, gyros, horchata, summer chicken tacos, watermelon, beautiful music, and flowy dresses.
Oatly is coming out with soft serve!

highly recommend the book Call me by your name. it’s about a summer romance and set in Italy - can’t get any more summery 😊

I've ordered Okay Days in a cute little book shop in Belgium, and I'm looking forward to this perfect summer read.
Strawberries - same here! only the Polish ones are the right ones! We get imported ones from Spain and they can be delish, but I always wait for my local ones, as they are king!
What takes me to my childhood in Pakistan and summers there are mangoes! Delicious.

Congratulations on your book Okay Days. It is an excellent story , very well written, I really felt I got to know these two people. Well done.

From Francoise Sagan you should read The Heart-keeper , set un Hollywood
Love everything about this! The best summer is one where I devour a delicious book so deeply that the memories and feelings are forever intertwined.
Hello, never heard somebody talk about Herbamare, i love it and it is from my home country. Can’t wait to read your novel soon😊
I would live in a white oversized linen shirt the whole summer if I could!
I read Bonjour tristesse for the first time last summer; thanks to your hype about it! And I’m thinking I might also join you in rereading it this summer 🥰

I grew up with the movie ❤ very Nastalgic and definitely keen to read the book now too 😊
Yes, and it's the absolute best and even better than the film! Have you read it, @jennymustard?
You always blow me away with the content of your videos, I really enjoy listening to you and to all your ideas ❤️

Watching this in Aussie Winter haha. Banking these for the hot summer months! I read a Jane Austen every Summer. Persuasion is my favourite.
Summer Crossing is a great book. The Proof of Love by Catherine Hall is my favourite summer book, partly because it’s set in a heatwave. Hoping to get to your book this summer 💚📚
Love the cold tea or coffee, but yeah I cold brew/infuse. Too bitter otherwise, but I'm very sensitive to bitterness.
I haven't seen Fried Green Tomatoes in over a decade and totally need to again. So good.
I have never heard of The Magus. I shall look into it.

Thanks Jenny Mustard!

I'm really looking forward to your book. I pre-ordered the eBook and the hardcover. When the German edition comes out later, I'll buy that too.
Every day I’ve been checking the tracking number on my preorder of your book! 😁 It should be delivered any day now! So excited to read it; congratulations again! 👏😊❤️

Where did you watch the movie The Magus? I've been searching for it for a long time!
wow! you have eyebrows!
Beautiful video, a pure pleasure to watch. Thank you Jenny&David!

If you want good weather almost all year round minus only about 3 months a year...come to Cape Town where Autumn and Spring are as green and warm as most European cities in summer 😂🎉🤩
We have all our down time in winter after 9 months of festivals, beaches, hiking and events almost throughout the year 🎉
