If it means anything to yeah I’m proud of what you and the Holmes family have done so far this year. Great growth on this trip so far! Keep your head up and gas peddle down.
You rolled it onto the truck in one piece! Coming to Knoxville mid July up to the 410 Nationals week, your racing against some of the best drivers around for weekly racing. Keep your head up,you made the A main!
Count your blessings of getting to go racing across the country and being with the family and with time will bring those better results. I enjoy watching and cheering you on. Great results ahead.
All I saw was a smart driver out there doing homework in the Capital of the Sprint car world. There isn't anything wrong with that. You guys will get it in due time. Y'all keep your heads up, keep taking notes and getting better at what you do out there will come to you eventually. Once a P.E. told me that the quickest and easiest way to get better at something is to surround yourself with the best. It's almost as if there skills rub off on you. You guys aren't doing any worse than I thought you would. I am still glad that you are still sharing these videos with us thank you for that. May y'all continue to have a good one out there. Have fun take care. P.s. if they sould care please pass on a Hi from me to your crew. Thx have fun take care
You’re wise beyond your years Tanner. Perfect perspective of the situation, on and off track. Everyone talks about how many home runs Babe Ruth hit, but never mention how many times he struck out. Yall don’t miss too often. Keep diggin, and cheers to you and your parents.
Some advice if your interested.. when I started racing it took me three years of full time driving at one track to figure out how to race and where I was making mistakes.. your a very talented driver, you will figure out what not to do, and what the car needs when..
Tanner - you are learning at such a rapid rate. Just keep on the grind and its all going to come together. Running the bottom with a clear goal of learning it is a good move. Have a goal each night that you can attain no matter what else goes on and you will have success.
School is in session Kiddo. Every driver or crew chief started slowly. If it were that easy, loads would do it. Just keep working at it. You're a good driver with a good car. You'll get it together eventually. 👍
That's competitive racing! Keep after it. I look up to you as a racecar driver. My vision as an outsider is to just stay clean and lay the car up in one piece. Top 20's are better than a damaged racecar. Head up and keep doing what you're doing. Respect!
Sometimes, a race turns into a test session. Can you lower the right front of your top wing. Wicker bill up on driver side and down on right. Gotta spill as much air drag as you can while keeping down-force where you need it. Try new stuff and keep digging. We are pulling for you and the family. God Bless.
You are doing what you have to so that you can learn. It's probably really difficult moving to such a large track to race on. There's definitely a balance between speed and having the right downforce. I also you think you (not you personally) have to learn how to driver a tighter car on big tracks. Any small slip and you kill all of your exit speed. You have to have the car on a rail. I would think as you get to feature time you'd want max downforce for when the track gets slick. I could see air pressures being different as well on the big track. There's a lot to be learned. But fighting through all that is going to make you a better driver. Especially when you do have a crew chief in the future.
Tanner, while watching the gopro ontrack it sounded to me like the motor wasn't getting up on the highspeed, the motor did not make that noise change it makes when it should transition onto the highspeed. Did you consider decreasing the highspeed fuel pressure down a little? I assume you have an air monitor that gives you "perceived elev, barometric pressure, etc." As you know air is so very different everywhere and is so dang important as it relates to your motor churning out the max horsepower and torque that it can. Keep up the awesome job both with the videos and your racing!!!
Hold your head up and keep digging your a good driver don't let Knoxville get the best of you. Race smart and keep your head in the game you'll do great 👍 from Minnesota 😎👍
I’ve always been told that the slider line is the best fastest way around the track. I’m sure that’s hard to do when you have a bunch of drivers around you. The 5th place finisher in your heat race was running the slider line and seem to catch you towards the end
Didnt honestly look bad in the feature when i caught glimpses. Can get lucky the first time out but will always be a learning expierience. Curious if you are following the all stars east. They hit selinsgrove the end of august. Its really the east coast knoxville. Big 1/2 mile that is semi banked. Not as high banked as port royal.
Tanner , Rome was NOT built in a day. You have made great strides and improved much. Knoxville is a difficult place to learn and an even more difficult place to earns wins. Do not be too hard on yourself. You and the team have done GREAT. You're there making laps and showing improvement. The better you get the harder it is to improve. There are some great divers there. You'll find your way. Keep on keepin' on.
Het tanner i ve been watching all your video i feel for you you have a lot on your plate like you said you have no crew chief you have to do alot yourself wit all that and other things you talked about i think you have been doing a great job keep up the good and hard work and it will all come your way good luck have fun and be careful . ted
I know Knoxville is known as the sprint car capitol of the world, if I could choose one track to go to I'd rather see Eldora, although am becoming a big fan of Kokomo
The big track, fast and furious competition. I would tend to believe everyone out there who has started at the back and eventually made it to the front, over time, will tell you, it takes time. There is many a driver and crew individual who probably comments on your page here. If something is mentioned that may seem a viable construct, note it for this paticular track then maybe slip it in, along with some of the feed you might get while there and your own setup for how you drive the car. You hit it early in the video when saying you wished you could have run the "B" as this would have given you more seat time. Laps, laps, laps. So long as you understand what doe not work, one can move forward. Maybe not in leaps and bounds, yet forward. I remember changing top wing height, front and back, lower. Front wing same. Because the track is huge, the aerodynamics come more into play. Lower the car height, ( center of gravity ), front axle offset, pan bar. It will over time come to you. Like many have said as well as myself, strap in and learn. You know that too many changes at one time may overload. Use a setup that is comfortable then maybe throw an added wrench into the mix and see what happens. From the footage, I think the recipe was there, just not quite sweet enough to come out done. There is a fellow out in Washington who used to wrench on the 600's up at Deming for some time. Retired now but was a staunch advocate for getting after it. Even if one convinces someone to do this midwest run with you might make the difference. Heck, make up a board, "Looking for Crewchief for Nationals", Might work. Tanner, it takes time. Every race is one to put into the books, Good, Bad or Ugly, it's your perception at the end of the run that excels you to the winners circle or keeps you at the back of the pack. Take it all with agrain of salt, bite the bullet, but just keep moving foraward. The spirit of the wind will always be on your back should you decide that's where it needs to be...... Your family absolutely "ROCKS", when it comes to supporting you and Carly. You just may have that crew chief in your mix already and don't even know it....."Carly"!
Damn, with that big of a track and high speeds, just breathing the throttle a tiny bit in the corners like you were costs a ton of speed/momentum. Seems if you don't run full throttle the whole race you get smoked
Don't be too hard on yourself. You're running against some of the best teams in the country. Also, not having a dedicated crew chief puts a lot of extra work on you. With a dedicated crew chief, that really can set up a car, you can go see what other drivers are doing on the track. Keep digging, your day will come!
@@lesbratton been around racing my whole life, just not too big into circle track. ive watched it off and on my whole life and always thought it was in tennesee not iowa.

Stay positive, learn ,learn, learn , you are right there!!! GOD BLESS !!!
Successful night as far as making the A and running some learning laps. Loaded a car without damage. Good work.
If it means anything to yeah I’m proud of what you and the Holmes family have done so far this year. Great growth on this trip so far! Keep your head up and gas peddle down.
The Holmes family are fighters with passion... I know that for sure... this is just round 1... looking forward to the next one
Keep at it Tanner! Major learning curve bro. Was great to meet you and your awesome family. Look forward to seeing where you go in the future.

Good luck brother. You and your family are doing a great job this year. Can't wait to see how you do in Knoxville..

The first lap looked so good I can't believe your time was that much slower in qualifying. Beyond smooth. Maybe a gearing difference.
way to focus on the positive... keep digging, no excuses, you'll get better!
At least you still ran the race and tried to learn from it! Good for you
Keep grinding. It only takes 1 amazing night to win the big one.
Those tough nights make those good nights that much better!

Take a second and look where you are; regroup and push off!!
Come down under to aus, tanner! Would love to see you ripping up eastern creek raceway
keep your head up buddy you guys are doing great you are racing against some of the best there is stay safe
At least you got some good videos for UA-cam of your family vacation.
I don't know a lot sbout set up but the motor wasn't singing like it should. The gearing might need to be adjusted, Keep pushing on.

Have some suggestion's put 2 pounds of air in your tires maybe ad timing like 2 degrees that would help for a little more speed at Knoxville
It sounds like the motor is maxed out before you need to enter the corner.
cant wait to see you at the nationals
Cure for any new track. More laps. Good luck. Hang on. Enjoy. Learn. I'm sure your father will figure it out. He knows a lot.

Hire The Dude for a few nights. He knows the way around Knoxville as much as anybody. Keep working. You're on the upswing.
Not a fan of The Dude but no denying that no one in history ran the bottom at Knoxville better
Guy Foerbrook is the man when it comes to Knoxville as a crew chief I believe he has the most wins ever. Danny had him for a crew chief for awhile.
@@kevinkelly5430 Don't disagree at all but Guy has his own team to take care of. The last I knew Danny was floating around.
