I also have a 2008 1600. The blue and black pain scheme. 11k miles on it and i paid 3000 dollars for it. It's a lot of bike for little money. My only complaint is the clutch tends to slip the first 10 miles or so until engine is fully hot . It's a common issue on them. I've ridden Harley for 20 years so I'm not used to a combined engine and wet clutch system . In those the clutch is separate from the engine and you can run a gear oil in the trans. The Vulcan shares the engine oil with both the clutch and transmission gears. As a result the trans can be pretty clunky when you shift. 10w-40 motor oil isnt the best for lubing gears but you gotta deal with it. And for whatever reason the clutch will slip the first 10 miles until motor is fully hot . But it will go away once everything is at full temperature. I suspect full synthetic oil is a bit to slick for the Vulcan clutch even though it's approved for it . I'm going to continue using it anyway. But if you run into the clutch problem I would try a conventional oil and see if it helps . I decided to not worry about it and let it slip for awhile. But next oil change I may try different brand . Right now it has Valvoline full synthetic motorcycle oil 10w-40. I'm gonna use a 20w-50 next time to better lube the gears and may help the clutch out . And yes 20w 50 is fine as long as you aren't riding in zero degree weather

My only gripe with the metric cruisers...i have an 08 Vulcan 2000...is that the saddle bags do not look as good as the Harley one's. The metric ones are round where the Harley ones are square and hang a little lower.

agreed, they don't have that sharp angle that looks badass.

Came across your video and I have an 07 did you just do exhaust, or did you add a commander or a FI200 to your bike. I'm looking for same performance just louder and no catletic converter.

"Handles speed well" you have no idea buddy.... I've put so many Harleys to shame with my 1600 classic. From the Vulcan S using the same engine as the Ninja-6, to the nomad 2000.. the whole vulcan line was built to haul ass as comfortably as possible. Of course, they're great for easy cruising, but these are basically muscle bikes, and i love proving it.

Your full of shit too. The Vulcan has 65hp. I own one . I also have a Harley with 103. It smokes the Vulcan easily . If your smoking Harleys they must be a 883 or a old evo bike. Vulcan 1600 puts out about the same power the older Harley 88 and 96 motors made. The 103 and up will eat a Vulcan alive

The bar raisers? How tall are you and do they make much difference?
    Thank you,

I'm around 5'10 and they make a significant difference in riding. Went from feeling like I had to slouch forward to straight up and down when holding the bars.

Sounds good to me. Maybe your ears are just trashed out ? Just messin. Also remember this film was done inside a closed garage so that will effect the sound, as well as the mic used and the speakers you use to listen on. Lots of things effect sound in recording videos such as this.
