I'm glad you like it. This is such a versatile toy and training tool, but I see so many having dogs leap, land, and twist using them. As a veterinary technician we see many knee injuries from those types of movements, so I made this video to share with clients on how to get started.
I was looking for a video to help a person who just rescued a 2-3 yr old dog -- "that won't play". I then thought of the Whip It Game -- Absolute Dogs. But so many people posting on YT really play the game incorrectly .. making dog jump high, etc. But, your video will be very helpful .. as one idea .. for this new dog owner. Thank you!
Brilliant infos, Monique. Thank you! Throw in a few commands like leave-it, sit and wait, and you'll also get a very effective way for the dog to learn impulse and excitement self-control!
Glad you enjoyed the video! And yes, this toy is a great tool for introducing high value reinforcement, and high level distractions. I really like how much versatility there is - I can make it quite plain or extremely arousing based on proximity, speed, nature of movement, and the dog's own preference. Also, the trainer won't accidentally lose the toy to the dog ;) My dogs have loved this toy for 20 years or so, and I always love hearing ideas from others about their favorite ways to play!
What do you suggest for a blind dog? My dog, who was born blind loves his tennis balls and we do play with them with him but I want to do more with him
Best demo video of flirt pole work I've been able to find. Thanks!!!!
