Hello Janice, I had a scary incident on a walk with my 95lb pit-bull so no longer do that with him and needed something to zap his energy, so decided to use a flirt pole. My problem is he loves it so much that when I'm done he won't let me put it away. So far when I start the training I make him sit and stay which he does a good job at. He just refuses to listen one he knows I'm done. I don't want to have a tug of war with him so I just drop it and leave. How can I teach him to stop that? BTW, I love this video and look forward to watching more of them.
Linda Rogieo - I know they really do love the flirt pole and rarely want the game to end! What I would do is when you are ready to finish the game, say "cookie trade" and drop a handful of treats, while he goes for the treats, get your flirt pole out of the way. Eventually you should just be able to say "cookie trade" and show him one treat in your hand (a yummy treat!) and he should drop the toy to take the treat. You may have to put the treat right at his nose, but it usually works quite well. Also when you are doing this make sure the toy goes "dead" and you are not pulling on it.
Janice Gunn hell my dog amazingly would rather have the toy than a treat!!! I have to sometimes use a break stick to unlock his jaws heheheheh I don't mind but it's hard to play Fetch with a dog that won't drop the tennis ball... I only get on average three throws before the tennis ball is destroyed. . ever seen a dog destroy a Kong ball in two hours lol !!!😣🐶
Great fun and exercise for your dog! And lol you're holding the treat in your mouth.

Have you tried roast beef, bacon or chicken as the trade treat?
Yeah thanks for the advice.. if I really need to get a toy from him I'll use that little trick
hi. My Pit Bull puppy loves this but starts to growl and aggressively chase, tug as hes growling. Should i be concerned or is this normal?
+dominionn09 Dogs growl when they play too, it doesn't always mean aggression. You have to look at the rest of the body language, and the context.
+TurkeyBurglar Jones - ditto that!
dominionn09 absolutely nothing wrong with that hun!!
