It always amazes me how much more work wolf trapping in comparison to beaver or coyote or other small critters. The patience and dedication to it is amazing. I hope you get a big one or two…👍👍

The snow conditions are crappy with the thaws and then cold. I covered mine with a thin layer of crust like that too. Will shatter when they step on it. Thanks for sharing Brother! Good video.

    Great job man,
My father was an amazing trapper in Northern Ontario Canada.
He taught me so much as a kid.
Today l have hunting and fishing camp in Northern Ontario Canada. We are over run with wolves, so l take 10 bow and gun hunters a season to keep the wolves under control.
We have 6 for 6 so far this year. We see wolves every day from our upstairs windows.
    Keep up the good work.
    Franklin Mullen.

@@lobopropredatorcontrol Yes l do, l am just south of Red Lake Ontario.
I have black bear, moose, small game, fishing and wolf hunting. My young friend that contacted you is kinda adopted by my wife and I. I'm passing on my knowledge of trapping and hunting to him. He just gobbles it up and never gets enough.
It is great to watch you beat the wolves at their own game. In one week here you would have a pickup truck full of wolves hahaha. We just laugh and say Lobo trapper would freak out up here lol.
Keep on keeping my friend. Trim the pack down to a healthy one.
      Good luck. Franklin.

I got tired of having to reset my steel traps all the time because of new snow or freezing rain etc. So, now I almost exclusively use snares. They are easy to adust if in fact it snows on them or if there is any freezing rain. My steel traps are MB 750's. I have trap setters but I like yours better. Can you post the contact information as to I can get some. Thank you.

    I hope you nail em!
My pack came through at 10:38am yesterday and went to the sets I just pulled 😂 (jeep guys driving around in there so I pulled a few sets that kept getting run over) (cell camera up told me the time)
I’ve work to do today. Get at em bud thanks for sharing what we do nobody knows but us that do it the work that goes into trap prep trap maintenance vehicles maintenance snowmobile maintenance trailer maintenance making wax dirt boiling traps walking to a spot where there are no humans what we carry as we walk then the fur put up job after a catch…. This is so lame hard enough trapping in the winter without folks following me. I hate living this close to Missoula. I even had a guy n gal from Spokane the other day on my snowmobile trail. I asked em what they’re doing they asked if the road is open (they wanted to go to the lookout) I said if you have a jeep yes lol 😆

Question? Why would you place ice on your trap pan? Wouldn't it be better to use powder snow? Do those Wolves step down with enough force to go thru that ice chunk?

    • @lobopropredatorcontrol
      @lobopropredatorcontrol  Рік тому

It's not ice it's the crust layer of the snow and it's very brittle, it will shatter when the trap goes of, the crystals in the snow have already setup in it and it doesn't get any harder, using soft snow can cause ice and then you are froze in

This is a tough time of year to keep stuff working. As much as I hate snares, that's what more than half my sets are now. I prefer footholds, but I know a snare will most likely still be working after a couple days of freeze/thaw, I hate seeing prints on unfired traps

    • @lobopropredatorcontrol

Hope you can get one or two. The wolves where I am trapping been gone now 12 days. Next check is tomorrow.
