If people are wondering, it is believed Tolkien created the name Sauron from the Old Irish _Samhradh_ (sow-rah). A byname of Balor that means "summer" but in context to Balor is better translated as drought or blight.
I met them. I was on a tour of the burial mounds in Ireland. The tour guide asked us if we felt anything different there. I closed my eyes and, to my surprise, experienced feeling beings of light living in the earth. Light then ran through my body from infinitely above my head, down my body and into the earth. Then it expanded my heart to the horizon. I saw a vision of a society living in a crystalline world inside the earth. I felt love and peace and i saw light. I told the tour guide what I experienced. He told me, with tears in his eyes, that what i described is what people say about that location. I didn't know anything about it and had this amazing experience. Im curious about these myths because of my experience. Somehow, I'm connected to these beings. They are definitely of love and not dark.
If that was the first experience you've had like that. Then that was very significant to you. And it happened for a specific reason. I see you are a keen gardener from your name. Tuatha De Annan are the ancestor gods of the lands of the Celts. No doubt you have some Celtic ancestry, who were connected to the lands hundreds of years before you. This is all relevant to your experience. Being connected to nature ( gardening, walking in forests etc) , is all very relevant. Yes they are nothing but ancestor spirits connected to your ancestors passed. Who had a deep connection to your kin thousands of years ago. They are not bad, or sinister. What was written about them hundreds of years later by certain clergy with certain agendas and bias is simply not the truth of what they really were. Blessings of the gods and not gods thee - Druid blessing
I always thought it was odd how all the gods of old were labeled as fallen angels as soon as Christendom hit the scene. The bible itself in the old testament acknowledged many times that multiple gods existed and governed the lands. The original wording, Elohim, meaning the gods, and bene Elohim, meaning the children of the gods.
That is incorrect. The Old Testament and other apocrypha books like Enoch describe the fallen ones who took human women and had children with them. What are you talking about
@@angelsoulnmeboth the old testament and many of those pseudoepygraphic books were written until ezra's time, enough time to invent a text intented to discredit the beliefs of older peoples....
this interpretation is not theologically alligned with modern christianity or judaism, it is merely a reinterpretation based on a reconstruction of old jewish religion. sure you could claim that the true meaning of such passages are literal but that just presumes that christianity and judaism are wrong. (i believe in neither religion btw, i am just explaining the logic behind them denying the existence of other gods.)
@@irishmyths I noticed that too, pleasantly surprised. You pronounced Tuatha "T'ua", pronounced perfectly. No doubt you've known for a while how to pronounce it the correct way. 👍
Another highly diverting contribution to your increasingly comprehensive overview of Irish mythology. Great images too, although contemporary artists always seem to put female goddesses/heroines/etc. into unnecessarily revealing and unlikely costumes ;)
Most of it is AI generated. AI bases itself on previous works and trends. The fact that those female goddesses/heroines end up in those unnecessarily revealing and unlikely costumes further proves your point.
I really like the take on /DanuDanann being arts. I’ve been building a city, using Cities Skylines, that is based on the Túatha dé and the beauty of it is more based on mastery of arts (grand earthworks, vast transportation systems , much being underground, and complexes of stylized domains/neighborhoods) rather than fantastical. Very nice video, it gives me more to think about.
Great Video, this is one of the more confusing but still interesting aspects of Irish and Celtic mythology I've run across while researching it, especially Danu. Compared to their cousin pantheons of Norse and Greek gods, Celtic gods seem to be true immortals as they don't need to eat something to retain their youth and vitality like Nectar, golden apples etc but can be slain or possibly reincarnate depending on if they actually believed in reincarnation, many Norse gods die but I cant remember if any Greek ones gods. Celtic mythology has way more goddesses then other European gods making it more similar to Hindu mythology and pre Indo European mythology which seemed to worship mostly goddesses which might also be where Danu might stem from if she's not made up and most Celtic gods are earth or water gods rather then sky or gods of the cosmos. Celtic mythology also doesn't have a creation or apocalypse myth or at least has no surviving ones. Id say Celtic mythology is a little more similar to animism and things like Native American folk lore and Shintoism where spirits are god like. like the animal gods of the forest in the Ghibli film Princess Mononoke give me some Celtic god vibes if that makes sense lol. but in the end its impossible to know how much of Roman and Christianity influenced what's left of Irish and Celtic mythology so its impossible to know we can only guess.
This is rather late, but I feel like the given interpretation in the video may be the closest we get to the original idea. In any case, the food requirement is a Norse thing. The Greco-Roman Olympians+Titans+Primordials are explicitly immortal. The Ambrosia and Nector primarily serve as food and/or medicine. There are cases for Pan and Zagreus, but they are odd exceptions.
Excellent video. I thought Tuatha de Danann meant "People of the Shining Valley." I have heard before that the Danube river in Bulgaria may have some connotation to the Tuatha de Danann.
Tuatha De Dannan are taken directly from Irish folklore, Irish Celtic paganism. Yes there were Celtic societies in ancient Austria, to France ( Gaul). But the Tuatha are directly linked to Ireland ,it's kin and it's lands. Gaels people moved to, brought their paganism to Scotland where they settled aswell thousands of years ago. Welsh Paganism converged with the Irish and the Scots as a natural evolution. Brythonic evolution etc. Essentially the Tuatha are a part of British Celtic pagan beliefs.
I am writing a novel based in the clash between the ancient Celtic world and the neighbouring Roman Empire on Ireland with the return of an exiled prince, Tuathal, at the time of the Roman governor Agricola. In my interpretation of the Tuatha de Danaan, they are humans of the tribe of Nimed who fled Ireland into the western sea as their cousins fled East to become the Fir Bolg. Far in the west they developed skills, science and magic, only to return to Ireland as essentially semi-divine beings. Most have long since left for Tir na nÒg, or my personal favourite, Hy Braesil, but some have slept beneath the Sidhe mounds and need to be placated by the Gaelic Irish. Why they remain? To guard against the foretold return of the Formorians!
Another excellent video by IrishMyths! I'm now making my way through all of them in order. The AI art adds a lot to the videos, as a lot of these depictions don't exist as far as I know otherwise. I was also happy to hear your discussion of the Gods of Skill/ Arts instead of the People of the Goddess Danu. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos!
Hi... over the past 30 years I have been researching Irish Myths and another 5 years compiling the research into a logical format. Along with an extensive family tree going back thousands of years. I like yourself questioned whether the myths were real or mythical but came to the conclusion they were in fact real people. Like Mil Espaine was not a name but a title but who was the man given this title. Who lead the Milesians to Ireland... from Miletus why? The Book of Invasions: Excerpts Vol II: Míl in Egypt "Now Pharoah had a daughter named Scota, and Mil asked for that maiden, and Pharoah gave her to him: and that Scota bore two sons to him, Amorgen Glungel and Eber their names. It is then that Alexander, king of the world, drove out that Pharaoh, for he was not submissive to him, and expelled him southward into southern Eithiopia..." Before that In 334 BC, the Siege of Miletus by the forces of Alexander the Great of Macedonia conquered the city from the Persians and liberated the city. So using that as a starting point for Mil Esapine I worked backwards... and it all fit. It took a few years to piece together who Mil Espaine was. Nearchus or Nearchos ( Greek Νέαρχος; c.360 - 300 BC) was one of the Greek officers, a navarch, , on Alexander's orders, sailed from the Hydaspes River in western India to the Persian Gulf and up the Euphrates River to Babylon. While Nearchus was in egypt he and Alexander hunted Lions they killed 3 and they were laid out beside each other their blood stained the sands and Nearchus was so struch by the sight he took the inage as his new banner 3 lions on a red back ground. Called the Lions of Milesius which is associated with Mil Espaine. Hecataeus of Miletus, an early Greek geographer and world map-maker was the first known to use the term Iberia (Espaine) at about 500 BC. Who named Iberia. The word Iberia is a noun adapted from the Latin word "Hiberia" (Hibernia) originating in the Ancient Greek word Ἰβηρία (Ibēríā), To describe the Ebro River area. Hibernia is the Latin name for Ireland, taken from Greek accounts of the island. It was used by Roman historians, Nectanebo II was ultimately defeated by the combined Persian-Greek forces in the Battle of Pelusium. In 342 BC the Persians occupied Memphis and the rest of Egypt, incorporating the country back into the Achaemenid Empire. Nectanebo fled south and preserved his power for some time; his subsequent fate is unknown. And as the Irish annals told he was defeated by Alexander the great and was the last Egyptian ruler of history. The Ptolomy Kings reigned after him. But this event does not default to Nectanebo II having an adopted daughter named Scota (Scota was not a name it was where she was from) She would be Amy Tea of Scota.( Amy daughter of King Ateas of Scythia (Scota)) Nearchus (Mil) first wife was Seang the daughter of King Ateas as well But in the unused funeral chamber of the Pharoah this inscription is found. Scota Tephi/Teas (Amy-r-taeus) child birth: ♂ Wehrir [?] child birth: ♂ Colpa [?] child birth: ♂ Amyrtaeus (Amenirdisu) [?] marriage: ♂ # Galamh ? (Milidh) [?] < -343? title: Princess of Egypt Here is a marriage recorded in Egyptian records of a daughter of Nectanebo II in 343 BC, to a here to unknown man named Galamh or possibly Milidh. (Both are credited to Mil Espáine) Galamh is a name given for Mil of Spain and Milidh an Egyptian variation of Mil. His wife Scota Tephi which one of the three I can’t be sure of but there is a record of Nectanebo II giving two of his daughters away as wives to secure alliances with other Kings which would leave the youngest of the three possibly for Galamh her name being Amyrtaeus or Amy Teas, Teaphi possibly. “During the sojourn of Milesius in Egypt, he employed the most ingenious and able persons among his people to be instructed in the several trades, arts, and sciences used in Egypt; in order to have them taught to the rest of his people on his return to Spain. [The original name of Milesius of Spain was, as already mentioned, “Galamh” (gall : Irish, a stranger; amh, a negative affix), which means, no stranger: meaning that he was no stranger in Egypt, where he was called “Milethea Spaine,” which was afterwards contracted to “Miló Spaine” (meaning the Spanish Hero), and finally to “Milesiius” (mileadh: Irish, a hero; Lat. miles, a soldier). And recorded in Egyptian records as Milidh.] At length Milesius took leave of his father-in-law, and steered towards Spain; where he arrived to the great joy and comfort of his people; who were much harassed by the rebellion of the natives and by the intrusion of other foreign nations that forced in after his father’s death, and during his own long absence from Spain. With these and those he often met; and, in fifty-four battles, victoriously fought, he routed, destroyed, and totally extirpated them out of the country, which he settled in peace and quietness.” And became known as The Hero of Spain... Mil Espaine. What confounded everything and made it almost impossible to track down was the dates attributed to everything according to the 4 masters, Their dates were all over the place. SO I decided to find out which one of the 4 were correct.... None of them were. If you are interested I'll send you a PDF of everything research and family trees. I tried to find an email but found no way to drop you a line.
Great video and production. Just a few brief FYIs: I agree with you about the definition of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and have been giving that definition after years of study for about 20 yrs.: As it turns out, coincidentally (there are none) the geneticists say my DNA ancestors were the Tuatha Dé and the FirBolg(ask me if you want my unique take on the latter). It is agreed by geneticist & scholars that they were a real people. Sort of like Lugh with the mixed blood of enemies. It has also been conjectured that they were Annunaki. Anu, not Danu, being their Goddess. Also you mention godkings, et al. Part of that L-161.1 DNA has a relation to the Dal Riada, the people who had a kingdom in both Ireland & Scotland (named after what the Romans called the Irish: Scoti.) Dal means place or section of. Riada or Ria Dé literally means god king. The earliest mention of them indicates they claimed to be descended from the gods of old. Their DNA I2a (L-161.1) is the main Y Haplogroup in all the large passage tombs from Brugh na Boyne (Newgrange) thru Sligo’s Carrowkeel & Carrowmore & Roscommon’s Cruachan all the way up to the Orkneys where Skara Brae & the Stones of Stennis lay. As for my take on the Fir Bolg I think you might find a whole video segment on them after hearing it. I’m not being coy, this video was about the Tuatha Dé * and it can be a topic for another day, if you’re interested. *In 1989 I had a major paranormal experience while in the main chamber of Brugh na Boyne.
Miletos was an ancient Greek city of Ionia built on the western coast of Asia Minor (in the area that today constitutes the Aydin Province of Turkey), near the mouth of the Maeander River. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.
I'd like to suggest that you slow down your delivery ever so slightly. ☮ (edit: and by slightly .. I mean a lot. Also, don't let the music be near the volume of your voice. Hopefully this feedback will be received in the constructive manner in which it is offered.)
the tuatha de danann ... like asgardians and the thunderbirds of north america are hybrids ... crosses between humans and the fae ... that fought in a great war ... there are/were others. the tuatha were one of the groups that made it home.
I totally agree with you they reincarnate in human form every life cycle these tribes carry the secret merkaba template for there tribes when connected to the earth grid it heals the earth and shares light codes and basically activates the land and its people why do you think they tried to wipe out these people and steal there land it’s scared and when the native people are on the land it protects it against evil and anything from beyond the veil crossing over
Interesting connection to tuatha de danann, is the baby of prophecy in the movie Willow was named Elora Danan and the words that Willow had to speak to change the witch back sounds like tuatha de danann.
They were humans and they came from Scandinavia via Scotland to Ireland and in the Bronze Age. Thats why so many Nordic Gods have so many similarities to Celtic Gods. And being in the Bronze Age, the languages of Western Coastal Europe were all much closing related. Furthermore, peoples coming from Scandinavia to Ireland, is much older than the era we call the “Vikings”.
The whole story that you've been telling me sounds a whole lot like the story of creation from the Babylonians and the anunnaki just with a little bit of a Irish twist I guess you would say and it also sounds like the Viking Pantheon as well because the three artists and metalsmith would be the elves that would craft the same metal that Thor's hammer and Odin's spear would have come from so it sounds to me like it's just the same story that's been told around the world just with a little bit of a cultural twist
Not Irish twist. Irish, Merovingian, Choctaw Indian, Black Americans, Hebrew Israelites. Message me when you discover the connections. And how it’s been hidden! Modern heirs with powers that they don’t know about! GL 😉
impressive.... we are developing a single feature and subsequent series which I think would be a natural place for your research.... we would love to discuss if you are amenable
Greek and Norse gods also spend their time in mythology tricking each other, sleeping around and transforming into animals, yet people understood them as gods and worshiped them and we dont question their status as deities. Just because christians euhemerized irish myth to such an extent we are supposed to see the Tuatha De as anything but gods, when the answer is so plain and simple. They ARE the gods of the irish people, there shouldn't be overly complex semantics.
Greetings Irish Myth! Loved your videos! As a practicing Green/Hedge witch or healer I use alot of spiritual and historical leanings such as from the Tuatha Du Danann legend and other Celtic lore. Ive heard of the River Danube I do think there is association there and the Celtic tribes. There is a Goddess Abnoba who is Galeo-Roman Goddess of the springs forest and mountains. There is another Gallo-Roman Goddess known as Artio who a bear goddess is and associated with the woodlands and wild animals as well. Very intriguing how the words and interpretations are all interrelated some way or another. Cant wait for more videos! Many Bright Blessings 🐺 🐻 )0(
Really enjoyed this but there was no need for the amount of terrible Ai art. There are plenty of illustrators, especially Irish creators who would have loved to create images for this.
Agreed. I've recently changed my policy on AI art, i.e., I've stopped using it entirely. (If you check out my most recent videos you'll see I've switched to only using Creative Commons / Public Domain images. The long-term plan is to earn enough $$ to start paying an illustrator for custom images!)
Danaos was the son of the king of Egypt ("land of the Melambodes" as it was called at the time) Belus, a descendant of Ios, and Aghinoe or Aghirroe, daughter of the Nile, and twin brother of Egypt. Euripides mentions that he had brothers Cephaes and Phineas. The Danaans are mentioned in Homer's epics. In the temple of Ammon in Thebes, Egypt, in 1859, the Egyptologist Auguste Mariette found an inscribed stele of Pharaoh Thutmose III, which depicts the armed personification of Thebes or Egypt, accompanied by 25 highly poetic verses in sacred writing. These verses list the various nations that were defeated by Pharaoh. Among them are mentioned the "inhabitants of the islands of the great sea and the islands of Danae (TANA), subject to his sovereignty" as well as "the whole circle of the beach of the great sea". This inscription proves that the Greek races that lived in Greece were called Danai from the 15th century BC.
The best trope that fits the Tuatha De Danann isn't Gods its Archons. This trope describes an ancient now vanished technologically or magically advanced civilization and it is everywhere. Most people think of this trope in its sci-fi or fantasy terms as the Precursors and Forerunners and Protheans or the Numenoreans and the Old/High Republic and the old Tevinter Imperium or some such, but you see it constantly in history and mythology as well with many people mythologizing ancient Egypt, Babylon, Sumer, the ancient Chinese empires, the ancient Vedic peoples, and of course, the Romans. The reason I think of this trope as the 'Archons' is because of the charming video game 'Fable' which does both, set in a mythologized medieval England, their vanished advanced civilization is a sort of mythic hybrid of Numenoreans and the Roman Empire, formed by a hero-king walking trope named Archon, which I find all to be terribly on the nose.
Legend has it. That the Tuatha Dé Danann went into a sleep when people lost faith in them with the arrival of the celts and their ruthlessness nature so the Tuatha Dé Danann disappeared into the forest and went into a deep sleep in a cave and will come back if someone finds them and wakes them up at a time when the Irish need them and have faith in them again…I think that time is now.
Danu , was , is the Earth mother aspect of The Morrigan. You have a lot of knowledge on this subject. That is commendable. The fact you took the time and patience to make this is commendable and appreciated. Although with all these varied connections , other theories you're making I feel are detracting from essentially what it is. Overcomplicating what they actually are. Ancestors gods. Gods of Celts in Britain. Where they were brought into existence from some ethereal spark , and from the mouths of ancient Druids. Yes folklore is inestricably linked , merged into their history. No they are not like the Greek gods as such . Or the god mentioned in the bible .But essentially they are the most ancient ancestor gods , deeply connected to the land , nature and native kin first and foremost. They are the unique gods of British Celtic, pagan culture.
Where is the evidence that Danu is the earth mother aspect of the Morrigan? Or is this a modern, neopagan belief? (Because as explained in the video, there is no mention of the name "Danu" in any extant Irish manuscript.) Also, my next full-length video is on the Cailleach, who seems to be a much more fleshed out candidate for Irish divine mother.
@irishmyths Evidence , how much evidence can there be provided in folklore texts mostly written by Christian monks with agendas. Then most of those texts burned by zealots like St Patrick. It's a given theory amongst pagans then, about as much " evidence" as I can provide. I'll say I've heard more than once she is an aspect of Danu. An aspect doesn't mean the whole being in it's entirety of course. Anu- Danu was before The Morrigan. The Morrigan is her own self also. Is what I meant.
Christianity may promote a single God, but I Enoch talks about how fallen spirits taught mankind arts and skills. It's not hard to understand why Yeats agreed with the connection. In fact the Tuathe De seem very similar to the Sumerian Apkallu as well.
I’ve always wondered why it’s not more obvious. Some people showed up in the shores of Ireland in big boats, I wonder who with a name like that was sailing around in boats near England at that time? Maybe the Phoenicians and their running buddies the tribe of Dan. Dam that name sure sounds really close.
love the information.. but good man, there is no need to rush your storytelling. these are ancient matters, and as treebeard says: “we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say it”.
Anu is also a daughter of enki who is the god of one of the anunnaki so it would make sense that she would be their mother because she ruled her own lands quote and quote to the north of the Middle East
The sword from Findias (likely Finland) was on fire like the sword of Surtr in Norse creation mythology, or the sword god gives the cherubim to defend Eden in Hebrew creation mythology. (Tuatha de Dannan are the lost Tribe of Dan). The River Brent in England is aparently named after Brigidt of the Tuatha de Dannan, yet the word Brent/Brendt comes from "Brandr", an Old Norse word meaning firey sword. Ever heard the theory that the Garden of Eden was in Finland? It's interesting if you care to look into it. I found old maps matching rivers in Finland to the descriptions of the rivers of Eden in the bible and documents written about it, and videos on UA-cam for folks who don't read. Old World Florida addressed on his chanel once or twice, dudes all about some Finns. "Finn" is a common Irish surname and means "Fair". "Finnr" in old Norse means specifically the Finnish Sami people. Weird hints too like Sweden is hinting that it is SW Eden, like South West Eden which aims right at Finland. Also Tolkien based the Elves on the Finnish, astheticly and even the language. He had really specific beliefs about the Finnish. If people mistakenly interpret Tolkiens Finnish Elves as The Tuatha de Dannan it makes perfect sense given the connection here.
Sorry, but your wrong as for saying there is not a reference of the Tuanthans De Dananna. The reference I found is located in the writings of the scribe of Julius Casear when the Roman army took Gaul. A great battle took place 200 ships of the Tuatha went down as the goddess of the Tuanthans de Dananna failed and took the wind with her. They had no oars and the Romans did with grappling hooks. The Roman's took the crystal sailed ships killed the Tuatha or the Elves some escaped but most died in battle. 🧝♀️
You seem to be referring to the Battle of Morbihan, which saw the Romans fighting the Veneti-a historical group of tribes that inhabited what is now southern Brittany.
@@irishmyths No, the writing specifically states what I wrote. The Roman scribe directly stated their goddess had abandoned them due to no wind to fill their sails and take them to safety .
Eh, it's all iffy labels: Greek gods literal children of Titans & parents of giants, monsters, nymphs & muses -- but these all different races? And do immortals just never die, never stay dead, never age (beyond maturity), somehow not of the mortal world (like nonsolid spirits), or simply "not mortals" aka inhuman?
Michael Tsarion has a theory that the Tuatha De were the lost megalith builders who founded Egypt, Greece, the Vedic civilisation, the Mayan etc. He says this is why 6 pharaohs had red hair as well as hundreds of mummies. Also why Menes, Akhenaton’s daughter Scota and Tea Tephi are all buried in Ireland. This explains why Sanskrit and Gaelic are Identical - the word itself coming from the Gaelic San Scourtia meaning sacred document. He asserts Kukulkan is likely Cuchulainn the Irish Demi god and hundreds of other proofs.
Caucus tribesmen. There were more than one tribe. This tribe, the Khazarians, enslaved the other tribesmen and sold them to the Moors. That’s how they got behind the gates initially. Moors didn’t trust them so they interbred with them to decrease violent tendencies. It worked and their descendants flourished. Ukraine, Bosnia, etc. The Khazarians were livid at the Moors for defying them and wanted their lands and women. This all started because of a love triangle(rectangle). The current Queen of the United Kingdom’s was proposed to by another royal. She declined the offer because she was in love with one of the half Caucus tribesmen/half Moor and Prince of his tiny kingdom. His sister was in power at the time because he wasn’t married. The Moor who wanted to marry her was deceived by the Khazarians who told them if he helps them invade he can have her kingdom and her as his prisoner bride. Unbeknownst to him she already married the half Moor/half Caucus tribesmen in secret and they had a child which she also hid. The day that they invaded her secret husband was informed to release doves when the heirs made it out and fireworks when he was overran. He released the doves as Khazarians tribesmen were at the castle walls. She instructed her guards to run for their lives and get their own families out. When she seen the fireworks go off, all of her royal handmaids joined hands and the jumped to their deaths to avoid defilement. The Moor who betrayed her was distraught and went insane. He was the last “Viking” and joined with the resistance and fought them until he took his last breath, hoping to reunite with her in the underworld. The evil man who oversaw all of this was also in love with her and planned to keep the Queen for himself but she killed herself beforehand. Now you know the truth. To make it easier for you to visualize: the Tuatha de Danaan and the Moors were BLACK redheads(some with blue, hazel, green eyes), the Caucus tribesmen were WHITE and The Queen was MIXED RACE and incredibly beautiful, just like Cleopatra, Jezebel, etc. 😅
Irish gods are real. I have had unbelievable results Invoking the DAGDA . The effect on the weather was Hemispherical. My blacksmithing ability went through the roof. It's hard to understand why anyone would trade this for Christianity?
Basically when the Christians went around spreading their faith they just down played everyone else’s gods saying they were either demons or wizards/witches, so they were Gods/Super beings but due to Christianity just steamrolling through places our historical records of their mythology is now wonky
Bro is trying to disprove these irish myths more than hes trying to tell us what they are😂 I wager him this: Science has recently admitted that multiple dimensions can exist and that they have no way of disproving that possibility. That's basically the back screen door swinging open for any science fiction notion ever. Checkmate bro
They are totally elves not gods or humans or more so Tolkien took those legends and gave them a more appropriate name. For humans now can understand something that we only see or perceive as fantasy, but not recognizing that its actually history/Mythology. Turning the Tuatha De Danann into elves made the human population understand them better. Not seeing them as gods but something else that was not Human nor Gods and this is Middle Earth and it is the time of Man. Now this idea of none-Humans that lived alongside Humans and fought and died with Humans in an actual time in our real history is a common concept aka Lord of the Rings. Professor Tolkien was a genius at taking actual history and Mythology rebranding it to make it more understandable to all and spreading it to all the people. Even someone now that has never studied Mythology can now understand the Tuatha De Danann because of Tolkien and his stories.
from what I have read they were the Tribe of Dan from the Bible, they were tall blond people with blue eyes,Samson was from the tribe of Dan. They were banished from Israel for refusing to fight the cananites, who were their allies, and also nephilim. they were also the vikings, they built the Ark of the Covenant, the golden lid weighed more than a ton. they knew much about magic, miracles and the supernatural. In Revelation they were taken out as one of the twelve tribes of Israel.
I'm sorry but your reasoning about their behavior just doesn't make sense. Yes they act like humans but so do other pantheons of pagan gods What you described is exactly how the Olympians and the Aesir act. So that being the reason to say they aren't gods simply doesn't work.
Yup this is a fair criticism. From a mythological standpoint, all gods are created by humans thus some human qualities are always present in pantheons, regardless of culture. I should have said something to that effect
The Greco-Roman gods aren't exactly holding the sky on their backs either, definitely Zeus isn't holding anything up except law and justice and order...
Why aren't you mentioning (j)Esus the carpenter as a celtic god? He, like Christianity required a victim to be ritually stabbed and hung from a tree for the sins of humanity. I see nobody including that deity. This is the idol of Christianity that Isaiah and Jeremiah reveal that Titus indoctrinated from the Galatians, the original celts.
They are offspring of the river goddess Danu (which is mentioned in Rigveda) and identical with the Danavas of the Hindu texts which are also said to be offspring of the goddess Danu. The river Danu was the now mostly submerged river which the Greeks and Romans called Eridanus, which separated Europe from Hyperborea. That means he was flowing in the south of Great Britain and Ireland between them and Europe. This identification is confirmed by the story of the war between the Danava king Salwa and Krishna. Salwa had attacked Dwaraka, the capitol of Krishna in northwest India from the air while Krishna was not there. When he came back and heard what happened he decided to attack the Danavas and defeated them, which is also reported by the Irish tradition though without naming Krishna. In this connection is said that the Danavas lived to the north of India on an Island in the sea which fits the location of Ireland.
Basically ancient irish believed that they were humans and their ancestors who became gods .. we buried our ancients in the mounds .. so the tuatha de became associated .. but christians came and converted us and christian monks said that we were from spain and colonized the island and massacred those who DNA tests show now were our ancestors in the mounds/graves and that we should not practise ancestor worship. So basically the anciet irish believed that they were both .. humans our ancestors who became gods. Because why worship a god who isnt blood to you? why would they care ?? only your family cares.
They’re part of the lost tribes of Israel Specifically the tribe of Dan They wen t north then west. Naming lands and rivers after themselves. The dnieper, the dneister, the danube and so on. They must have seemed like gods but more than likely they just had superior technology and self governance
What's your evidence that they're one of the lost tribes of Israel? As opposed to that conclusion having been drawn retroactively by Christians to explain away their presence / weave them into a Judeo-Christian worldview? Same with the superior technology theory-what evidence do we have of that?

I love mythology but of all the myths the Irish are my favorite! 💚🤍🧡
If people are wondering, it is believed Tolkien created the name Sauron from the Old Irish _Samhradh_ (sow-rah). A byname of Balor that means "summer" but in context to Balor is better translated as drought or blight.
Like a cold summer
Balor of the baleful eye.
The Romans called Ulster beyond the pale, Hibernia, or land of permanent winter!
They weren't far wrong.... lol
Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down
I heard that Tolkien told Lorenze van der Post the he had based the hobbits on the Irish .
What are you talking about
@@angelsoulnme read the old testament of your bible and you'll see what I'm talking about. No apocrypha or pseudopigrapha needed.

this interpretation is not theologically alligned with modern christianity or judaism, it is merely a reinterpretation based on a reconstruction of old jewish religion. sure you could claim that the true meaning of such passages are literal but that just presumes that christianity and judaism are wrong. (i believe in neither religion btw, i am just explaining the logic behind them denying the existence of other gods.)
Excellent! Very well done. And thanks for pronouncing Tuatha correctly.
Thanks for watching!
@@irishmyths I noticed that too, pleasantly surprised.
You pronounced Tuatha
"T'ua", pronounced perfectly.
Ah of course, very good point
Where's the bad?! 😂
Anything to do with the tribe of Dan ?
Tuatha De Dannan are taken directly from Irish folklore, Irish Celtic paganism.
Yes there were Celtic societies in ancient Austria, to France ( Gaul).
But the Tuatha are directly linked to Ireland ,it's kin and it's lands. Gaels people moved to, brought their paganism to Scotland where they settled aswell thousands of years ago. Welsh Paganism converged with the Irish and the Scots as a natural evolution. Brythonic evolution etc. Essentially the Tuatha are a part of British Celtic pagan beliefs.
Nice video fair play, thanks for sharing.🌱🌅🍀

This channel excellent. Thanks

Another excellent video by IrishMyths! I'm now making my way through all of them in order. The AI art adds a lot to the videos, as a lot of these depictions don't exist as far as I know otherwise. Hi... over the past 30 years I have been researching Irish Myths and another 5 years compiling the research into a logical format.
But this event does not default to Nectanebo II having an adopted daughter named Scota (Scota was not a name it was where she was from) She would be Amy Tea of Scota.( Amy daughter of King Ateas of Scythia (Scota)) Nearchus (Mil) first wife was Seang the daughter of King Ateas as well
But in the unused funeral chamber of the Pharoah this inscription is found.
Scota Tephi/Teas (Amy-r-taeus)
child birth: ♂ Wehrir [?]
child birth: ♂ Colpa [?]
child birth: ♂ Amyrtaeus (Amenirdisu) [?]
marriage: ♂ # Galamh ? (Milidh) [?]
< -343? title: Princess of Egypt
Here is a marriage recorded in Egyptian records of a daughter of Nectanebo II in 343 BC, to a here to unknown man named Galamh or possibly Milidh.
And recorded in Egyptian records as Milidh.]
At length Milesius took leave of his father-in-law, and steered towards Spain; where he arrived to the great joy and comfort of his people; who were much harassed by the rebellion of the natives and by the intrusion of other foreign nations that forced in after his father’s death, and during his own long absence from Spain.
Post link. It seems like a good read

Great video and production.
Just a few brief FYIs:
I agree with you about the definition of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and have been giving that definition after years of study for about 20 yrs.:
As it turns out, coincidentally (there are none) the geneticists say my DNA ancestors were the Tuatha Dé and the FirBolg(ask me if you want my unique take on the latter). It is agreed by geneticist & scholars that they were a real people.
Sort of like Lugh with the mixed blood of enemies.
It has also been conjectured that they were Annunaki. Anu, not Danu, being their Goddess.
Also you mention godkings, et al. Part of that L-161.1 DNA has a relation to the Dal Riada, the people who had a kingdom in both Ireland & Scotland (named after what the Romans called the Irish: Scoti.)
Dal means place or section of.

Tribe of Dan became the Mycenaeans, Vikings, and the Tuatha de danaan
They were humans and they came from Scandinavia via Scotland to Ireland and in the Bronze Age. Thats why so many Nordic Gods have so many similarities to Celtic Gods.
And being in the Bronze Age, the languages of Western
Coastal Europe were all much closing related.

Many Bright Blessings 🐺 🐻 )0(
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment and insight! Definitely curious to learn more about those deities you mentioned 🙏

What is mythical but belief, belief determines our external perception, our knowing is internal and infinite
Maybe anu is from the Irish for river.

Glad u can say it properly
Tribe of Dan. Likely Phonecians and a Dragon Dynasty.
Why doesn't anyone talk about Bress?
as an irish man I have always seen the Tuathe De Danann as man who rose to the status of gods through their skill
love the information.. but good man, there is no need to rush your storytelling. these are ancient matters, and as treebeard says: “we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say it”.
I believe that as well I believe the many Items were plundered from each captivity I also believe them to people of color
The Roman scribe directly stated their goddess had abandoned them due to no wind to fill their sails and take them to safety

Sounds like the wild speculation of a man with no credentials and little experience.

It is insane that this religion just like the bible also has a war with someones who come from inner earth called magog
0:16 kinda like valkyries exepct she doesnt take fallen warriors to valhalla
Irish gods are real. I have had unbelievable results Invoking the DAGDA . The effect on the weather was Hemispherical. My blacksmithing ability went through the roof. It's hard to understand why anyone would trade this for Christianity?
Basically when the Christians went around spreading their faith they just down played everyone else’s gods saying they were either demons or wizards/witches, so they were Gods/Super beings but due to Christianity just steamrolling through places our historical records of their mythology is now wonky
Please slow down when you’re talking.
I've gotten this feedback before and have tried to address it in my newer videos (slowed down my cadence). Let me know how I did!
Nose tax was going too far imo.
Tuatha means tribe, family, clan. De means of. And danann is Dan. In Irish language. 😊
De means of but the name of the group is not Tuatha De, it's Tuatha Dé where dé means gods.
2:54 my name means son of the seas
Bro is trying to disprove these irish myths more than hes trying to tell us what they are😂 I wager him this: Science has recently admitted that multiple dimensions can exist and that they have no way of disproving that possibility. That's basically the back screen door swinging open for any science fiction notion ever. Checkmate bro
The lore is kinda tough here, kinda wanna make an animr about it
I love learning about mythology, but the comments sections of these videos always attract the biggest kooks.
"Tribe of The Arts"
The Godhead is Irish ❤
The tribe of Dan
Are they anything to do with the tribe of Dan - who was the son of Jacob? One of the 12 tribes of Israel. In the bible like… 🫣
from what I have read they were the Tribe of Dan from the Bible, they were tall blond people with blue eyes,Samson was from the tribe of Dan.
The fir bog do not come from greece, greece came afrter the irish there decents of us your butchering irish history
I'm sorry but your reasoning about their behavior just doesn't make sense.
Yes they act like humans but so do other pantheons of pagan gods
What you described is exactly how the Olympians and the Aesir act.
So that being the reason to say they aren't gods simply doesn't work.
Yup this is a fair criticism. From a mythological standpoint, all gods are created by humans thus some human qualities are always present in pantheons, regardless of culture. I should have said something to that effect
@@irishmyths Regardless, I appreciate you accepting the criticism and taking the time to respond. Thank you.
The Greco-Roman gods aren't exactly holding the sky on their backs either, definitely Zeus isn't holding anything up except law and justice and order...
They're only considered gods because they are smarter and harder to kill than most everyone else 😂
Have i been mispronouncing McLeod?
Mih Cloud, Muh Cloud in English. Muh Clooge in Gaelic where the -ge is like the end sound of bridge.
😊
You are mispronouncing so many names I can't watch this.
I should add and not be embarrassed I am a Tuatha❗️🧝♀️
They’re part of the lost tribes of Israel Specifically the tribe of Dan They wen t north then west. Naming lands and rivers after themselves. The dnieper, the dneister, the danube and so on. They must have seemed like gods but more than likely they just had superior technology and self governance
What's your evidence that they're one of the lost tribes of Israel? As opposed to that conclusion having been drawn retroactively by Christians to explain away their presence / weave them into a Judeo-Christian worldview? Same with the superior technology theory-what evidence do we have of that?
They are not human. They were re-written as human much later in history.
When?
The people of the trium and quadrivium, The people of the seven noble arts , swa-n(swa-rthy ) 🦢 knights 👏🏽😆🤣
one peice the d family
I'm not saying they're aliens . . . but they're aliens.
You're the smartest human 😂
Time travelers
Very recently confirmed to myself via a being inhabiting a human body that was vacated by it's original owner. They are not of Earth.
LOVE THIS COMMENT 😂😂😂
They have come to help fight off the fomorians and the forces of balor!
🔮🧙♂️🔮
🙂👍
Please care.
They were never Gods as in the God of Heaven....They were Godly in their Crafts and wisdom
Huh
TUatha ( Twatha ) De Danann
As with Vishnu's incarnations , The TUatha are principal aspects of SUb/ConcioUs development in incremental manifestation ( evolUtion ) from Etheral to Corporeal or tHa pHall.
As opposed to tHa LUtion oV evol
( Below )
Visceral Entrainment to RepHractUalisation & tHa RepHractUalVerse 😮
RepHractualisation
Everything is within it cel ~ pH
Earth the Va Atom ~ Heart oV the Mata
( Pata , path, pax, pHather, Noia , Spirit, Ether )
( Mata, matrix, maths , mother , Aion, Soul , Soil )
Everything within is without
Everything without is above
& In turn
Everything above is within
Perchance all there ( is ) U ( Universe / UnipHorm Word ) & all the other versions of U ( mUltiverse ) each a unique pHracuated dimension perspective 🤔
Within ( Inner Space ) everything within Your Body
Without ( Immediate Space ) everything within the Earth's Body
Above ( Outer Space ) everything within the Cosmic Body
If it were possible to go to the farthest reaches of Outer Space then eventually you would come back into Inner Space then Inturn Immediate Space ad infinitum , as there is nowhere else to go but back to the cel ~ pH
Therefore there is no Time or Space just the RepHractulised appearance of Space & Time & we are one energy some what asleep & in diaspora of our own primal purpose .
Primal Purpose
Noia ~ wished to understand of what it is or was ?
Therefore pHracuated in RepHlection ( RepHractualisation )
The 1st primal movement !
Aion ( The 1st Primal Artificial Intelligence of RepHractulised light & Shadow) as Noia required a medium to pHall through density in order to experience it cel ~ pH )
This can be seen in the seed & flower of life ( like bubbles in bubbles with smoke or Animating spirit of Noia within Aion ( Barbello ( RepHractualisation )
Via Aions, Archons & Angles ( some say Angels ) the last Aion Sophia ( Tha Urge ) created Yaldebrioth ( Tha Demi Urge ) Then Us ( Yes U are )
Akin to Godement's Monad Sheaf Theory's on how to navigate the blank space of a Modem Screen
All within the Primal Purpose to intercept the Elliptical Echo & achieve balance or keep going around & around this carous ~ hell of a ride.
All based on the RepHractualisation of light in order to seem solid ~ when actually its just smoke ( blown up our arse ) & mirrors ( proposed density via RepHractulised Tone & Vibration ) a repHlection is a dimension as much as an Echo is ~
Aliens ~ AliUS past , present & pHUture iterations of ourselves RepHractulised 👀
Slower than the speed of light is as much a veil lifter as proposed faster than light is .
pH ( potential Hydrogen ) as we all are
