I have cried many tears while listening to this song the past 25 years. Now that I see Frida's emotional performance, let's just say I have used a few more tissues today. Thank you for posting this heart wrenching song and video. And thank you Frida for delivering a performance that far exceeds anything Abba ever released.
This is so beautiful! What a fantastic voice she has. The true voice of Abba, just listen to their live stuff, and you can very easily say who carried them through each song. This was the leading lady. I love them all.
what a lady, what a voice, perfect version , I can hear it every day and every time I feel like is the first time.. hard these days to hear this kind of music lyircs and of course these artists like Frida. God bless you Frida
Anni-Frid's post ABBA work, while very different,is every bit as good as that she did with ABBA. In fact it is often better as she is able to showcase her voice and talents much more, even compared to the ballads where she sang solo lead. Frida has built a great legacy of song. I can barely wait for my copy of this CD to arrive. Thanks for posting this say3words.
What an achingly beautiful cover. Her vocal performance demonstrates how nuanced she is as a vocalist. That being said, I'm stunned that some adults still feel the need to go for the whole "Frida VS Agnetha" silly debate.
Did anyone know the song is actually a cover from the 1981 Phil Collins album Face Value? He wrote, played and sang it from behind the piano, with accompaniment of a string ensemble. I love that version, as I love the Frida one with the harp and strings. The whole 1982 album of Frida was made in a huge co-operation with Phil Collins, but I'm sure that's really old news for you dedicated Frida-fans. Anyway, great video!
Yeah, it is OLD news, sad to say so why's it keep being brought up. Drill-thru-the brain braying voice Collins would have made an awful version of this song, so thankfully Frida takes it over. Why the hell this has to be made a thing of I'll never know, Frida did not have a great time working on this album, typically that short-arse twat with little taste was a control freak and on her DVD she (and she's not the only one) mentions her 2nd 80s album "Shine"-the one that slaphead prick had no part of it was a far more comfortable experience and vocally she let rip more often than not. Anyway, a raft of people contributed songs to this album, writers like Jerry Rafferty, Bryan Ferry and Russ Ballard for a few, so actually, don't make out this pleb Collins orchestrated the whole thing and he only would have tried making it "a huge co-operation" as he wanted complete control but it's not his album it's her, he can sod off back to his own shit and keep quite about it. Only thing he ever got right was not pleased with his vocals on 'Here We'll Stay' and mercifully a Fossil-Phil free one was released as a single, but sadly only made the album when finally updated to CD in 1995. Dedicated Frida fans? Clearly the only fan you seem to be of here is Collins. Thank God she never worked with him again and that his ear-splitting bray is only WAY in the background in a few songs so much so I can tell myself he's not there and it's any other normal bloke, much like the guys Agnetha sang with in the 80s on her duets, excepting Peter Cetera who's clearly cut from the same annoying cloth, only sadly there's no substitute for him. Even Gary ponce barbie Barlow did better than that, and he's nauseating as hell.
Phil wrote this originally for Frida, along with others which he produced for her in the early 80’s, and released an album of her singing them all. I remember buying it purely on that fact and it was lovely 😊
@xxYOURBIJOUxx You're mistaken that Phil Collins wrote this song for Frida. He had already written and recorded this song for his solo album Face Value. When Frida asked Phil to produce her solo album, she picked this song of his to record.
I agree, Celina. Although I'm a Phil Collins fan too, the song benefits greatly both from Frida's beautiful voice and a much prettier arrangement, particularly the harp.
All groups leave behind a trail of feuds among their fans (often unwanted by the groupmembers themselves)(it started way back with Lennon vs. McCartney), and fans all too eager to pursue them. IMHO both singers are good and have performed good and moving songs in their later careers, but nothing otherworldly though if you know what I mean (no talk of Janis Joplin or Barbara Streisand or Joan Sutherland here).
Amazing version, but I have a question. I heard this song is composed by Phil Collins, and appeared in his "Face Value" album in 1981. So I'm a bit confused. This is a cover of the Phil Collins song?
wetlox, Whislt Frida may well have drawn on her personal feelings of the time to bring out the most in this song she has far too much personal and professional integrity to use her music to chastise Benny in public. He also certainly felt many losses from their divorce and I don't know of him ever saying anything derogatory about Frida in public.
This is not a real great song at all - in fact it´s pretty average. And as Frida never got any brilliant songs her career somehow ended with ABBA which is sad.
Anything after the monster success of ABBA would have been a comedown somewhat. But the album that this song comes from was very successful and the lead single from it was a worldwide hit, spending an impressive 6 months on the Billboard Hot 100. After 1984, she wound things down, happy to make occasional recordings and guesting with other artists, Deep Purple's Jon Lord for instance. Her native language, comeback album in 1996 was a number one in Sweden. She's just recorded a cover of an old ABBA song with Jazz legend, Arturo Sandoval for his duets album. She's still got a great voice.
I´m not talking about success - I´m talking about musical quality. ABBA was perfect pop and there was only one thing missing and that was ambition to go for something really new or adventurous etc. Frida was/is a good singer as well as Collins was a good drummer. Both had enormous success with a band and a lot of money. That could have enabled them not to care for money and to make something ambitious. But they didn´t and made the same pop over and over again. - You´re right, after ABBA none of them had a real chance for big success as their names were too connected with ABBA and the musical chemistry of ABBA was just unique.
Give her a break! After ABBA, she wanted to find a musical identity of her own. This woman has been the target of unrelentless criticism largely because she wasn't the blonde sex bomb of ABBA Some in the media even called this, one of the most beautiful women of her era, "ugly." (They should have taken a better look at themselves.) Indeed, not only was she beautiful, she was tremendously talented and the most professionally experienced of the group. What is the root of all this vindictiveness?
Frida at her best. A voice of an angel.
Every time I see Frida I combination of light, music and art, like river of light running through time and space. THANKS FOR THE MUSIC
And then by suprise I found this beautifull diamant. Frida makes this song really something special with her warm and unique voice!

You haven’t heard shall I laugh or cry....
One of my favourite more mellow and gently sung Frida songs. Tinged with pathos from life.
this song literally tore me apart
this sing is beautiful and Frida's performance is flawless.
this song really shows what an amazing voice frida has.....knew she had a great voice but this song really showcases her stunning vocals!!!!
This is one of my favorite Phil Collins songs. It is simple but beautiful.
One of my favorite Phil Collins songs too
Frida is a very beautiful lady. I wish you all the best, Anni-Frid Lyngstad. You are one of the best EVER.
This is so beautiful! What a fantastic voice she has. The true voice of Abba, just listen to their live stuff, and you can very easily say who carried them through each song. This was the leading lady. I love them all.

Dear Frida
I hereby proclaim you as The Voice of Sweden
Beautiful what a great singer and a beautiful rendition of a classic
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard her sing!!!!
Such a beautiful song!!! One of my favorite all time vocalists
i love you frida. What a voice.
Jesus this takes all,the way back to when I first heard this.
You could tell that Frida really felt these words as she sang them.
She and Phil basically lived it.
Anni-Frid's post ABBA work, while very different,is every bit as good as that she did with ABBA. Just as I thought I would make it, Frida s voice killed me with its perfection !
SHE CAPTURED PHIL'S HEART ON THIS VERSION ... GREAT PERFORMANCE.....
what a great song from an amazing singer
FRIDA you are the best
Oh Frida, you divine, talented and out of reach.
Phil and Frida, what a combo!
Frida found a great affinity with Phil Collins lyrics. Both of them had deep emotional breakups with the one they truly loved.
This will always be Phil's song. Something about his voice in the particular song can't be replaced.
She pulled a good performance, but Phil's versione is...harrowing...haunting.Nothing can beat it.
Yep, fridas great but Phils original version tears the emotion from you when you listen.
firstmusic00
Phil actually wrote it for Frida along with other songs and produced it. The album was then released in 82.
I agree. Only Phil can sing this song
@@xxYOURBIJOUxx he did not! It was on his first album, released 18 months earlier
Buenísima 😘😘
Bella canzone il tuo talento non mente. Buona fortuna.
Thank you for uploading. One of the best songs from one of the best voices. Somethings going on is kult !!!!!

I really enjoy each time i listen this song..
Recorded during Feb/Mar 1982 for her album Something’s Going on released in September 1982
such a perfect song for Frida... I was shocked when I heard Phil Collins' original version!

Thought of the Moment
Those who wish to sing always find a song. -Swedish proverb
This song was originally on the Phill Collins album "Face Value" 1981. This one is a...cover.
I prefer Phil's version for the piano, but this is still incredibly beautiful especially with Fridas voice.

this song is perfekt for frida, she sings wonderful. Agnethas voice is perfekt and wonderful too,
Anni-Frid better!!! She is the best!!!
Excellent! Thanks
@jobvink yes, this is a diff version but just as great. not many people know this album but its fantastic, spin it quite frequently myself.
5 people don't know what she means. Or have a heart of stone. Probably both.

That was beautiful 😍 ❤ but sad. I love her voice❤❤❤ Was she referring to Benny in the lyrics????
I agree, Celina. Although I'm a Phil Collins fan too, the song benefits greatly both from Frida's beautiful voice and a much prettier arrangement, particularly the harp.
that Voice ... :) .... 85 845 knows what I mean ... ! ;)
Thanks fot the info!
What can you say? eh! Frida ahhhhhhhhhhh!
Phil Collins song, EXCELLANT !!! !!!!
Phil produced and played drums on I know there's something going on...
Pourquoi la vidéo est trouble ?
Frida is trustful clean up with your lovers before i come back to you.
thats very gud ..
Can anyone send this song to me like mp3 file?? pleasee
This song reminds me of The carpenters, the sound, the melody, especially Frida's Vocal here oddly resembles Karen Carpenters.

yes, it is cover of his song.
No offense but Frida was one of the top performers of the 70s/80s while PC was still a balding drummer in a Progrock outfit, geddit?
